Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited understanding of how digital poetry with mental health themes can serve as a medium for character education in the era of digital literacy. The aim of this research is to synthesize interdisciplinary findings that examine the role, effectiveness, and pedagogical implications of digital poetry in fostering students’ character and emotional well-being. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was applied by analyzing 50 qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies published between 2015 and 2025. Data were collected from major academic databases such as Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar, then analyzed using thematic synthesis and conceptual mapping. The findings indicate that digital poetry effectively enhances emotional awareness, empathy, and psychological resilience through interactive narratives that support mental health. It also contributes to the development of character values such as responsibility, tolerance, and moral reflection through affective and technology-based pedagogical strategies. Pedagogically, integrating digital poetry requires curriculum support, teacher readiness, and equitable digital literacy. The study concludes that digital poetry represents an innovative medium for strengthening holistic character formation and developing emotional intelligence in 21st-century education. Abstract

This study aims to explore the pedagogic competence of an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher in teaching English, focusing on three main aspects: learning activities, classroom communication, and assessment practices. The research was conducted as a qualitative case study in Grade VIII Junior High School, with one English teacher as the subject. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques, including data reduction, display, and interpretation. The findings indicate that the teacher demonstrated strong pedagogic competence by designing engaging, technology-based learning activities that utilized tools such as Quizizz, Kahoot, Canva, and educational videos. The use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) encouraged students to think critically and work collaboratively. The teacher also maintained positive classroom communication and used varied assessment methods, including formative, summative, authentic, and performance-based evaluations. In conclusion, the teacher’s pedagogic competence reflects a student-centered and technology-integrated approach that effectively supports English learning.

Abstract

Higher-order thinking is a crucial skill for students to master in the digital age. However, various findings indicate that student achievement in this aspect is very low. PBL, as a learning model believed to improve these skills, in practice, still draws criticism. In many studies, it is known that PBL is effective only when students have a good mastery of basic concepts. To bridge the research gap, Chemsite was used to strengthen these basic concepts. This study used an experimental method with 28 high school students as the research sample. Class selection was carried out randomly. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the integration of the PBL model with Chemsite in training higher-order thinking skills. Based on three parameters, namely: 1) the Wilcoxon test, indicating a significant difference in pre-test and post-test scores; 2) N-Gain analysis, indicating that 60.72% of students reached the high category and the rest were in the medium category; and 3) analysis of student responses, indicating a positive response between 79% and 100%. These findings prove that the Chemsite-PBL integration is effective in training HOTS and is an answer to the classic practice of PBL. Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between literature, ecology, and Indonesian culture through an ecocritical approach. Literature is understood not only as an aesthetic work but also as a representation of the relationship between humans, nature, and their social environment. The ecological approach to literature views literary texts as reflections of ecological awareness and cultural values that shape how humans perceive and treat nature. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literature review technique. The data were obtained from Indonesian literary works with ecological themes, such as Orang-Orang Proyek by Ahmad Tohari and Nyanyian Rimba by Triyanto Triwikromo, as well as relevant references on literary ecology and Indonesian cultural studies. The analysis focuses on identifying the representation of ecological values in the literary texts, emphasizing the interconnections among humans, culture, and the environment. The results indicate that Indonesian literary works convey ecological values such as harmony between humans and nature, local wisdom, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), simplicity, and environmental responsibility. Literature functions as a cultural archive that records the ecological worldview of traditional communities while also serving as a medium for reflection and critique of environmental crises caused by modernization. Furthermore, literature holds significant potential in fostering ecological awareness and sustainability ethics through the promotion of cultural values. Thus, literary ecology plays a vital role in understanding and revitalizing cultural practices to be more in harmony with nature and in strengthening the function of literature as a medium for cultivating ecological consciousness among students at MA Arifah Gowa.

Abstract

Sexual education is a crucial aspect in shaping the character and awareness of university students regarding ethics and moral responsibility in personal and social life. However, the implementation of sexual education in higher education institutions often failas to meet the diverse needs of students, who come from different backgrounds, levels of understanding, and learning needs. Thus tudy aims to anakyze the need for differentiated instructional materials in sexual education for university students, focusing on differentiation in terms of learning readiness, interests, learning styles, levels of understanding. The research method used is a needs survey involving 46 students from the PGMI study programs, using a questionnaire to collect data. The results show that although most students have previously studied the material, their understanding remains at varying level – some high, some moderate, and most low. On the other hand, the majority of students expressed a high level of interest in sexual education from an Islamic prespective, yet demonstrated diverse preferences in strategies, media, and types of learning tasks. These findings highlight the importance of developing instructional materials that can accommodate students diverse characteristic through a differentiated approach, in term of content, procces, and product. Thus, the development of differentiated instructional materials will not only enhance the effectiveness of learning, but also encourage active student engagement and strengtrhen their understanding of Islamic values related to sexual issues in a reflective, responsible, and applicable manner.

Abstract

The widespread use of social media has transformed the way students interact with each other, both online and offline. This study explores the influence of social media on students' social interactions, focusing on its impact on their communication patterns, relationships, and social skills. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining survey data from 200 students from two universities in Indonesia with in-depth interviews from a subset of participants. The results show that social media has both positive and negative effects on students' social interactions. On the one hand, social media enables students to connect with peers globally, access information, and participate in online discussions. On the other hand, excessive social media use can lead to social isolation, decreased face-to-face communication, and reduced empathy. The study highlights the need for educators and parents to be aware of the potential risks and benefits of social media and to promote healthy social media habits among students. Keywords: social media, social interaction, students, communication, relationships, social skills
