Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Think Pair Share (TPS) models in improving students' learning outcomes in social studies subjects viewed from the level of learning interest. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest type. The sample consisted of 60 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banguntapan, divided into two experimental groups. The research instruments included a learning outcome test, a learning interest questionnaire, and an observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using an independent t-test, gain score test, and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results of the study showed that both learning models were effective in improving learning outcomes; however, their effectiveness was affected by students’ level of learning interest. The PjBL model was more effective for students with a high level of learning interest, while the TPS model was more suitable for students with moderate to low learning interest. These findings emphasize the importance of selecting learning models that are adaptive to students’ characteristics to optimize learning achievement

Abstract

eval___uation of learning in secondary schools is still dominated by test items that only measure memorization skills, thus failing to encourage students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), as evidenced by research findings showing that students’ achievement in the ecosystem topic remains relatively low, with 65% of 30 students failing to reach the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). This study aims to develop and eval___uate the feasibility of HOTS assessment instruments based on expert validation and empirical testing. The study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Plomp model, involving 115 Grade X students from two senior high schools in Labuapi District. The expert validation results indicated an instrument feasibility level of 86.39%, which falls into the very feasible category. Empirical testing showed that all test items were valid and showed high reliability (α = 0.959). The analysis of item difficulty levels varied, with a distribution of test items categorized as easy (12%), moderate (64%), and difficult (24%), while the item discrimination index showed that the majority of test items were in the very good category (64%). The results obtained indicate that the developed HOTS assessment instrument is feasible and can be used to stimulate and enhance students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills on the ecosystem topic

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the exemplary values of Prophet Muhammad SAW in the moral development of santri through the learning of Sīrah Nabawiyyah, which is integrated into the education system at the Merapi Merbabu Community Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School). This Islamic boarding school adopts Sīrah Nabawiyyah as the foundation for character education based on the “Panca Jiwa” concept, which comprises scholarship, da'wah, volunteerism, community engagement, and entrepreneurship. This study used a qualitative phenomenological approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the exemplary values of Prophet Muhammad SAW, such as trustworthiness (amanah), honesty, patience, responsibility, and intelligence, are systematically internalized through the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) approach. Santri are guided through the habituation of moral behavior, involvement in da'wah within the community, and direct modeling from ustadz and musyrif. The success of the program is supported by a curriculum based on Sīrah texts and a synergistic relationship with the surrounding community. Challenges encountered include inconsistency in the moral conduct of santri outside the boarding school environment and the absence of a standardized administrative curriculum. This study provides a significant contribution to the development of a contextual and applicable model of Islamic character education based on exemplary conduct

Abstract

This study explores the implementation and actualization of human resource development (HRD) programs aimed at enhancing teacher professionalism in junior high schools within Batam’s hinterland. The research is driven by the need to address educational disparities in remote areas, particularly concerning teacher competence. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, and local education officials. The findings reveal that while HRD initiatives such as training and workshops have been introduced, their implementation faces constraints, including limited funding, inadequate access to training facilities, and minimal post-training support. The actualization of these programs remains suboptimal, with few practical applications in classroom contexts. Teachers often encounter difficulties in applying theoretical knowledge due to insufficient institutional backing. This study concludes that improving teacher professionalism in hinterland areas requires increased access to practical, context-relevant training, enhanced institutional support, and greater stakeholder involvement. The results underscore the importance of aligning HRD strategies with local conditions to foster meaningful and sustainable professional growth among educators. Implications suggest the need for policy reforms and targeted investment to optimize HRD outcomes in remote educational settings

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of chemical concepts and digital literacy through Hybrid On-Site E-Learning (HoSEL) with a focus on the structure, nomenclature, and applications of organic compounds. This type of research is mixed methods. The participants consisted of 38 eleventh-grade science students from MA DDI Jayapura, divided into control and experimental groups. The participants consisted of 38 students of grade XI IPA MA DDI Jayapura who were divided into control and experimental groups. The control group followed a conventional teaching model (without HoSEL), while the experimental group was taught using the HoSEL model. The research instrument used a test given at the beginning and end of learning. The analysis of the research data used inferential statistics and the N-Gain test. The results of the analysis showed that before the implementation of HoSEL, students' understanding of chemical concepts was already at a very good level, but their digital literacy achievements were still very low (0.12). After the implementation of HoSEL, there was a significant increase in both conceptual understanding and digital literacy (p <0.001), which showed the effectiveness of the model, especially with high N-Gain on digital literacy (0.79). In addition, 85.5% of students responded positively to the use of the HoSEL model, making it a recommended approach for chemistry education, especially in the Papua region

Abstract

This study investigates science learning outcomes on the topic Matter and Its Changes among seventh-grade students at MTs, with a focus on gender differences. Using a descriptive survey method, the entire population of 77 students (two male classes and two female classes) was involved. Data were collected through post-tests, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and analyzed quantitatively using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that female students had significantly higher average learning outcomes (64.04) compared to male students (45.50). Further analysis revealed that female students performed better at cognitive levels C3, C4, and C5, as well as across all subtopics. Qualitative findings from teacher interviews suggest that this difference is consistent and may be attributed to female students’ ambition and logical reasoning, as observed in class. However, questionnaire data indicate that male students report higher self-confidence. The study concludes that gender differences significantly influence science learning outcomes, with implications for instructional strategies and gender-responsive teaching practice

Abstract

Fire is a disaster that cannot be predicted and often has a significant impact on human life, both materially and non-materially. Fires are usually detected only after they have grown large, resulting in unavoidable losses. Various factors, such as short circuits in electrical networks, LPG gas leaks, and human negligence, are the main causes of fires. In this situation, an early detection system that provides real-time information is needed to minimize the impact of the fire. This study aims to design a prototype of a Multisensor Fire Detection System Based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that integrates a flame sensor, MQ-2 gas sensor, and DHT22 temperature sensor with the Blynk application to provide real-time notifications. This system is also equipped with an LCD for warning display and a buzzer as an alarm. The prototype has been tested in a controlled environment that simulates fire conditions, including gas leaks and high temperatures, with several trials conducted to verify its reliability. The results showed that the system could detect fire at a maximum distance of 100 cm, hazardous gas concentrations starting from 600 ppm, and temperatures exceeding 35°C as the threshold for fire detection. However, its performance may be affected in environments with high humidity levels or areas with poor network connectivity. With effective integration of hardware and software, this prototype helps users detect potential fires at an early stage and minimize the risk of fire-related losses
