Abstract

The study of Islamic education theory has so far prioritized the thinking of educational scholars from the Arab world. However, the study of Islamic educational thought of Nusantara scholars still needs to be encouraged. One of the Nusantara scholars who was very instrumental in the Indonesian Islamic intellectualism tradition was Sheikh Abd Shamad al-Palimbani (1704-1789). This article aims to explain al-Palimbani's educational thoughts, especially on the ethical aspects of a student and teacher, as well as its relevance to the educational practices today. The main data source of this article is al-Palimbani's work entitled Sair as-Salikin. The content analysis is used to analyze and explain the work. This article finds that in al-Palimbani's view, a student must have ethics both relating to himself and relating to his teacher. Some of the ethics are a student must be clean of his heart from despicable nature, focus on study, redempted, respect knowledge, intention because of God, respect the teacher, and not feel smarter than his teacher. Meanwhile, a teacher should be patient, affectionate with students, humble, accept the truth of other opinions, not expect rewards, resuscitate students and others. It some points of al-Palimbani's educational thought that are still very relevant to the characteristics of 21st century education. Among them are the importance of mutual respect between students and teachers, honesty in communicating, openness in accepting the truth, and lifelong learning. At least, al-Palimbani's educational thougths are relevant to the characteristics of 21st century education, in expecting rewards from teaching activities and excessive restrictions on students when in the presence of teachers

Abstract

Early childhood, or in specific, the period of age zero to six, is the golden period in which many major developments in children take place. Families are considered to be the first and the most important support system to facilitate those developments. However, amidst the overwhelming information regarding parenting over the globe, parents can be left indecisive in choosing the most appropriate strategies to nurture and support their children's development. This qualitative study explores the prophetic ways to stimulate children development, including 5 (five) development areas, including: (1) cognitive development, (2) language development, (3) motor and physical development, (4) socio-emotional development, and (5) moral development. It was found that there are several similarities between the prophetic ways in stimulating children with those founded by scholars in early childhood education or child psychology. Parents can follow Rasulullah’s steps in nurturing young children, such as by breastfeeding babies until the age of two and weaning them afterwards, inviting children to discussions, telling stories about Rasulullah s.a.w. and his companions, communicating effectively with children, playing with young children, showing affection to them, and teaching them that Rasulullah s.a.w. is the main role model in life.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the items used to measure students' mathematical abilities in a private elementary school in Pekalongan. There were 22 fifth-grade students involved in the study. The test items consisted of 15 multiple-choice questions related to the topics of spatial calculations and data presentation. The Rasch model was used to determine the fitness of these test items. The analysis was carried out using the Winsteps software. Test items were considered fit for the model in the Winsteps program if the Outfit MNSQ value ranged from 0.5 to 1.5, the Outfit ZSTD value was between -2 and 2, and the Pt-measure Corr value was positive, indicating that the item was a good fit for the model (Sumintono & Widiharso, 2015:98). The Winsteps program's output revealed that 15 test items were in accordance with the Rasch model, with an Outfit MNSQ value of 1.03. The Outfit ZSTD value was 0.0. Additionally, 11 test items had a positive Pt-measure Corr, while 4 test items had a negative Pt-measure Corr, indicating that these 4 items did not fit the model. Abstract

The teaching of science emphasizes that students should learn independently so that they can enhance their scientific attitude, thinking, working, and communication skills as life skills aspects. One of the fundamental problems found in education today is the low absorption capacity and critical thinking of students. One instructional model that can be used in science education is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This research is conducted using a literature review method by analyzing previous studies on the improvement of learning outcomes and the critical thinking abilities of students through problem-based learning. The data sources for this research come from various previous research literature that has analyzed the use of problem-based learning models to enhance learning outcomes and the critical thinking abilities of students. Problem-based learning is intended, among other things, to help students develop thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
