Abstract

Background: Plasma spraying is a proven technique for applying ceramic coatings to enhance the mechanical and chemical resistance of components exposed to abrasive and corrosive environments. However, controlling coating porosity remains a critical factor that directly affects the coating's performance and lifespan. Contribution: This study contributes to the field by developing a predictive model that quantifies the influence of key plasma spraying parameters on the porosity of Al₂O₃–TiO₂ coatings. The model enables process optimization and quality control for applications requiring high-performance surface protection. Method: An orthogonal experimental design (N27) was implemented to systematically vary three process parameters: spray distance (Lp), plasma current intensity (Ip), and powder feed rate (Gp). A total of 27 coating samples were produced and analyzed. Results: The resulting porosity ranged from 5.96% to 14.52% depending on parameter combinations. The developed second-order polynomial regression model demonstrated good predictive accuracy, with deviation between measured and predicted values ranging from −8.67% to +13.96%, and typically within acceptable engineering limits. Conclusion: The findings confirm that process parameters significantly affect coating porosity, and that the proposed model is a useful tool for optimizing plasma spray operations.

Abstract

Background: Grass Jelly Village (Cincau) based Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya, Indonesia, has started digitalization by building a website profile to promote their products. However, they need help managing the website and selling their brands since they have lower digital literacy resources, and their website only has a single admin. Contribution: This community service program contributes to enhancing digital literacy in Grass Jelly Village by providing structured training in digital marketing and website management, aiming to empower local residents in utilizing digital platforms for economic and social development. Method: The course process involves three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation includes analyzing requirements and designing course materials, followed by practical implementation, and evaluation consists of evaluating the course through feedback and evaluation forms. Results: Based on the satisfaction survey on digital marketing training received a score of 89.33%, copywriting training received a score of 85%, website training received a score of 90.66%. Then there is a satisfaction survey on the speaker by getting a score of 92%. Conclusion: The digitalization training for Grass Jelly Village's MSMEs was highly effective, resulting in enhanced digital literacy and improved business practices. The program's long-term sustainability is supported by follow-up strategies, including forming a dedicated digital team and ongoing mentorship.

Abstract

Background: Many MSMEs in Indonesia struggle to comply with the packaging label standards from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM). The root of this problem is knowledge gaps among MSME owners about labeling standards. Contribution:  This community services program contributes to enhance awareness of BPOM-compliant food packaging among MSMEs through counseling programs.  This program differs from previous counseling programs by incorporating digital aids, specifically in redesigning packaging that complies with BPOM standards. Method: Thirty participants attended an interactive discussion and counseling session in Purwodiningratan Village, Surakarta. Using visual aids and digital packaging design examples to show compliance, the session discussed BPOM's standards. Semi-structured interviews and post-session assessments were done to assess influence; descriptive analysis was then used for interpretation. Results:  Showed that 80% of the participants engaged actively in conversations, and 70% desired to implement what they learned in the counseling session. Conclusion: The counseling session increased participants' understanding of standard food packaging regulations and shifted their perceptions. Early signs of behavioral change supported the efficiency of participatory counseling in improving MSMEs' compliance with regulations.
