Abstract

Stunting is a critical public health issue characterized by linear growth in children below the normal standard, typically resulting from chronic malnutrition from the prenatal period up to the first two years of life. This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge regarding stunting prevention through balanced nutrition guidelines. The intervention utilized a social marketing approach employing flipchart media in Kabba Village, Pangkep Regency. The activity involved 25 participants (homemakers and community leaders) who attended interactive lectures facilitated by the flipchart media. The results demonstrate a significant knowledge gain: the proportion of participants categorized as having "good" knowledge increased from 52% in the pre-test to 84% in the post-test. The Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.003 (<0.005), indicating a statistically significant difference in knowledge before and after the intervention. The flipchart medium proved effective in delivering balanced nutrition material in a visually appealing and interactive manner, successfully enhancing participant understanding and fostering positive attitudes toward stunting prevention. Therefore, a social marketing approach leveraging interactive visual media can serve as a sustainable strategy for community health education programs, particularly for stunting prevention at the grassroots level.

Abstract

This activity aims to empower fishermen’s wives through the management of agricultural products in Tanjung Saleh Village, Kubu Raya Regency. The village is located in a coastal area rich in marine and agricultural resources, but these resources have not been optimally utilized to improve the welfare of the community, especially fishermen's wives. Through training and mentoring, the activity focuses on enhancing skills in processing marine products (such as fish) and agricultural products (such as coconuts) into value-added products, specifically serundeng. This activity employs a participatory action research approach, complemented by a qualitative method in data collection. The results indicate an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in processing serundeng.

Abstract

The “UMKM Go Export” program is a community engagement initiative aimed at improving the export readiness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Komunitas Sukses Berjamaah Indonesia (KSBI). The one-day training was conducted using a participatory approach and adopted the “9 Steps to Enter Export Markets” curriculum, covering topics from business readiness, product standards, market mapping, international trade regulations, digital marketing, to export transactions and networking. Pre-test and post-test results showed a significant increase in knowledge, from 58.2 to 83.6. Around 80% of participants were able to draft a basic export plan, and 70% successfully created digital business accounts. Despite the short duration, participants' engagement in simulations, group discussions, and follow-up mentoring reinforced their readiness to compete globally. This program serves as a replicable model for empowering MSMEs in sustainable export development.

Abstract

Financial literacy remains a major challenge in Banjarejo Village, significantly impacting the way the community manages their finances. Residents’ understanding of formal financial services remains low. This situation encourages some residents to choose non-formal financial institutions, such as those that are easier to access but carry high interest rates. This community service activity was carried out at the Banjarejo Village Hall, Pakis District, Malang Regency, involving 30 members of the PKK (family welfare movement). The objective of this activity was to increase the community’s understanding of financial literacy and planning. The method used in this activity was direct outreach and counseling for the Banjarejo Village community. The series of community service activities included initial observation, outreach, counseling, and monitoring and evaluation processes. From this activity, the results obtained were that 75% of participants had sufficient understanding and 25% of participants had a high level of understanding of simple financial reporting so that it would affect the financial flow of families and businesses.

Abstract

Agriculture is a vital sector that plays a role in fulfilling food needs, economic development, and community welfare, particularly in rural areas. However, most farmers in Lebak Village, Grabag District, Magelang Regency, still rely on conventional methods that are inefficient and do not yet utilize modern agricultural technology. This community service activity aims to enhance farmers' understanding and skills related to appropriate technology, specifically a sensor-based automatic soil moisture irrigation system, a portable soil pH meter, and a circle model seed planting pattern. The method employed in this activity was the socialization of appropriate technology. The results show a significant improvement, with the average understanding score increasing by 91%, 85% of farmers being able to operate the pH meter, water use efficiency rising by 28%, and corn planting time becoming 44% faster. These outcomes prove that participatory socialization based on direct practice is effective in boosting farmers' capacity, both cognitively and technically. This activity is expected to serve as a model for strengthening the adoption of modern agriculture based on adaptive, productive, and sustainable precision technology at the village level.

Abstract

Adolescents are an age group that is increasingly vulnerable to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes. This is triggered by unhealthy lifestyles and low health literacy. This community service activity aims to increase students’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle as a preventive measure against NCDs. The intervention was carried out at SMK Muhammadiyah Bangunjiwo and involved 40 grade X students. The series of activities included a pre-test and post-test carried out using Quizizz, as well as a health education session with four main topics: physical health, nutrition, mental health and reproductive health. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in the average student score from 72.6 (pre-test) to 88.5 (post-test) (p = 0.000). This increase shows that an interactive and contextual educational approach can improve students’ understanding of a healthy lifestyle. This program emphasizes the importance of school-based health education as a preventive strategy to reduce the risk of NCDs early.

Abstract

The challenges faced by the PKK group include limited knowledge and skills in utilizing local natural resources for creative products, a lack of understanding regarding simple business management, and low utilization of digital marketing. To address these issues, the activity was conducted using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes leveraging local assets in the form of leaves and flowers, human resource capacity, and community social networks. The activity was carried out through several stages: coordination, socialization, technical ecoprint training on ceramic mug media using the steaming method, group practice, provision of business management knowledge, introduction to digital marketing, and evaluation. The results show that the participants successfully created natural-patterned ecoprint mug products, developed a better environmental awareness, and acquired basic entrepreneurial skills, including calculating the cost of goods sold and determining the selling price. The PKK women are now capable of producing approximately $\pm20$ ecoprint mugs per month with 3–5 variations of motifs. Thus, this activity not only enhances creative skills and entrepreneurial literacy but also opens up opportunities for women's economic empowerment based on local potential.

Abstract

Gembongan Village, located in Ponggok Sub-district, Blitar Regency, East Java Province, possesses significant potential in the agricultural sector, particularly in corn cultivation. Known for its abundant corn production, the local community is often seen drying corn in front of their houses. However, during the harvest season, the increase in yields gives rise to environmental issues due to the accumulation of unused corn cobs, with only a small portion being repurposed as fuel. This significant volume of agricultural waste necessitates proper management. One proposed solution is to utilize corn cobs as a growing medium for janggel mushrooms (a local variety of mushroom) to support the green economy, as well as a raw material for making organic fertilizer to produce high-quality products using the fermentation method. This community service aims to provide innovative solutions to the corn cob waste problem while building sustainable partnerships with Gembongan Village in line with SDGs 3 and 17. The community service methods applied include field observation for identifying potential and problems, socialization regarding agricultural waste management, hands-on training for making mushroom growing media and organic fertilizer, and continuous mentoring in the form of monitoring and evaluation. The results show that after the training, there was a significant increase in all aspects, with 100% of the participants knowing how to make the mushroom growing media and 92% knowing how to make solid organic fertilizer.
