Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance understanding of legal protection for teachers in performing their professional duties. The implementation method includes preparation, problem identification, socialization, and monitoring and evaluation (Monev). Through this initiative, teachers gained comprehensive insights into their professional rights, obligations, and legal protection mechanisms as regulated by Law No. 14 of 2005 and Government Regulation No. 74 of 2008. The results showed a significant increase in participants' regulatory understanding, rising from 42% to 89%. The findings reveal that the primary obstacle to teacher protection is not a lack of regulation, but rather weak implementation and insufficient inter-institutional synergy. Consequently, systematic collaboration among local governments, education offices, professional organizations, and legal institutions is required, including the establishment of a Teacher Protection Task Force to ensure an effective and sustainable protection system.

Abstract

Optimizing agricultural by-products such as banana blossoms (Musa acuminata colla) is a crucial strategy to strengthen food security and rural economies. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of PKK members in Sambirejo Village to produce banana blossom-based vegan meat as a local flagship product. The implementation methods included socialization, demonstrations, and hands-on training covering raw material management and processing technology. Evaluation of 25 participants using pre-test and post-test instruments showed significant improvements across all indicators. Average conceptual understanding increased from a moderate level (2.77) to high (3.50), while technical skills in processing technology recorded the highest growth (Δ = 0.80). These findings demonstrate that disseminating plant-based food technology effectively transforms local commodities into high-value economic products. The program recommends developing village micro-enterprises to ensure product sustainability as a pillar of self-reliant food security.

Abstract

Cocoa pod husk waste in Kageroa Village, Poso, remains underutilized and poses environmental challenges. This community empowerment program aims to transform this waste into an innovative food product—cocoa husk crackers—to enhance the income and entrepreneurial skills of the Sukamaju Mohintuwo Women Farmer Group (KWT). The program employed a participatory approach, including food processing technology training, production mentoring, and evaluation. Results showed a significant increase in partners' capacity across knowledge (from 45.8 to 85.7), attitude (39.4 to 88.1), and skills (58.6 to 89.3). Furthermore, the group successfully produced crackers with competitive texture, taste, and shelf life. This initiative proved effective in shifting the community’s mindset regarding cocoa waste, creating new business opportunities, and strengthening women's roles in the local economy through regional commodity-based innovation.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem degradation due to land conversion and climate change threatens coastal resilience and community livelihoods in Kuala Simbur Village, Jambi. This community service program aims to enhance ecological awareness and strengthen institutional collaboration in mangrove conservation. Utilizing a participatory approach, the program engaged the village government, Village Consultative Body (BPD), and local community groups through environmental regulation education, participatory problem identification, and conservation action planning. Results indicated a significant increase in public understanding of environmental risks and the ecological functions of mangroves. The program's tangible impacts include the formation of community-based mangrove conservation groups and the strengthening of village regulatory frameworks for sustainable coastal management. Community participation increased in direct actions such as conservation area monitoring and land rehabilitation. This initiative demonstrates that the synergy between community awareness and village institutional support is a decisive factor in the successful preservation of blue carbon ecosystems in coastal regions.

Abstract

Low environmental awareness and a lack of ecological educational facilities in elementary schools necessitate nature-based innovative solutions. This program aims to enhance environmental stewardship among students at SDN Payungsari II through the development of green school gardens as outdoor learning media. The implementation methods included socialization, simple green technology training, and participatory mentoring. Evaluation results showed significant behavioral shifts: student engagement in plant care rose from 11% to 79%, while the habit of proper waste disposal increased from 35% to 87%. Qualitative data from teacher interviews confirmed an increase in students' responsibility and enthusiasm for environmental conservation. This program demonstrates that green school gardens effectively serve as living laboratories that transform theoretical awareness into sustainable practical habits, fostering ecological character from an early age.

Abstract

An increase in daily household waste volume to 771 kg in Tejorejo Village has disrupted irrigation functions and triggered flooding. This community service program aims to strengthen waste management and the local economy through the implementation of IoT-based Polystyrene Crusher technology. The methodology involved technical training, green economy management mentoring, and direct implementation of IoT-integrated recycling technology. Results demonstrated a significant increase in partner capacity in waste sorting (45%), equipment management (50%), and green marketing literacy (45%). The technology successfully shifted the business model from raw plastic sales to value-added processing, resulting in an initial gross income increase of 2.7%. The integration of IoT allows for precise monitoring of production efficiency while strengthening the resilience of community-based circular economies. This initiative proves that modernizing appropriate technology effectively mitigates environmental risks while creating sustainable economic opportunities at the rural level.
