Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sanguine personality traits of the main character in the novel 2nd Miracle In Cell No. 7 by Goebahan R and Alfian N. Budiarto. The analysis addresses the research question by describing the sanguine personality traits, specifically the aspects of warmth, friendliness, and cheerfulness. The study illustrates how the main character's sanguine personality creates a realistic impression and fosters strong emotional connections within the literary work. A descriptive qualitative research method was employed, allowing the researcher to describe the sanguine personality traits based on the three examined aspects. Data collection was conducted using the "read-and-note" technique, while data analysis utilized content analysis. This approach enabled the researcher to depict how the main character manifests warmth, friendliness, and cheerfulness throughout the novel. The results indicate that the main character's sanguine personality is reflected through these three aspects, creating a realistic impression within the story. This is evidenced by the excerpts identified for each aspect: 130 excerpts for warmth, 43 for friendliness, and 72 for cheerfulness, resulting in a total of 245 excerpts analyzed in the study.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of interactive media as a strategy to improve classroom conditions in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research was conducted by identifying, selecting, and analyzing various relevant scientific articles from 2012 to 2025. Literature collection was done through several academic databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, Scopus, and national journal portals using keywords related to interactive media, Indonesian language learning, and elementary education. The research procedure followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, which include identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of articles. Based on the selection process, 8 articles met the inclusion criteria for further analysis. The results show that the use of interactive media, such as interactive multimedia, learning videos, digital learning applications, and technology-based educational games, can increase student engagement, learning motivation, and create a more active and conducive classroom atmosphere. Additionally, interactive media also helps teachers manage the learning process more effectively and attractively. However, the success of implementing interactive media is influenced by several supporting factors, such as teacher digital competence, availability of technology facilities, and school environment support. Therefore, the use of interactive media in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools needs to be continuously developed as part of learning innovation that is relevant to technological developments and educational demands in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the comparison of conventional implicatures and politeness strategies in the speeches of Prabowo Subianto across two different contexts, namely state speeches and public policy speeches. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and is analyzed from a pragmatic perspective based on Grice’s implicature theory and Brown and Levinson’s politeness strategies. The data consist of utterances found in the state speech delivered at the Annual Session of the MPR on August 15, 2025, and the public policy speech presented at the Cabinet Plenary Meeting on October 23, 2024, obtained from official sources. Data were collected through documentation and note-taking techniques and analyzed using a contrastive approach. The findings reveal that state speeches tend to contain implicatures oriented toward political legitimacy, characterized by a reflective and normative style, with limited use of politeness strategies, mainly positive and negative politeness. In contrast, public policy speeches demonstrate a tendency toward technocratic persuasion, with a more direct, critical, and instructive style, accompanied by a wider range of politeness strategies, including bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. These results indicate differences in communicative orientation influenced by the speech context, where state speeches function to establish symbolic legitimacy, while public policy speeches serve as instruments for instruction and bureaucratic control.

Abstract

This study examines code-mixing and code-switching in the speech of first- and second-generation Javanese communities in Wonomulyo, Polewali Mandar Regency, from a sociolinguistic perspective. The research focuses on identifying the forms of code-mixing and code-switching as well as exploring differences in language use patterns between generations within a multilingual social environment. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of naturally occurring speech among selected informants from first- and second-generation Javanese speakers. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that code-mixing is more dominant than code-switching in daily interactions, particularly in informal communication settings. Code-mixing appears in the forms of words, phrases, expressions, and clauses involving Javanese, Indonesian, and Mandar elements. Meanwhile, code-switching occurs due to changes in communicative situations, interlocutors, and speech purposes. The study also indicates generational differences in language behavior. First-generation speakers tend to maintain Javanese as their primary language, whereas second-generation speakers more frequently incorporate Indonesian and other local linguistic elements in their speech. These findings demonstrate that code-mixing and code-switching function not only as communication strategies but also as reflections of linguistic adaptation and intergenerational language shift in multilingual communities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the directive speech acts found in videos from the "Radio Horor" YouTube channel. The analysis addresses the research questions by identifying directive speech acts—specifically requests, commands, and prohibitions—within the videos. Data were collected through transcription and annotation, and subsequently analyzed using the pragmatic equivalent method. This approach allowed the researcher to characterize how requests, commands, and prohibitions are employed by the narrator. A total of 106 instances of directive speech acts were identified: 18 requests, 15 commands, and 73 prohibitions. The prevalence of prohibitions indicates that the narrator frequently uses them to control audience behavior and prevent actions that could lead to negative consequences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character education values contained in the children's story entitled "The Mimic Wolf and the Goat Family" published by the Language Development and Fostering Agency. As part of efforts to strengthen national literacy, this fable story is a strategic instrument in the moral formation of children in elementary school age (golden age). The method used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques on the intrinsic elements of the story that are linked to the character education parameters in the curriculum. The results of the analysis indicate the existence of four main character values: (1) intelligence and critical thinking, which train children to be alert to false information; (2) courage and resilience, which are reflected through the character of Mother Goat; (3) obedience and responsibility; and (4) social awareness and compassion. These findings are in line with the theory in the Basicedu Journal and Patria Educational Journal which emphasize that fable media is effective in helping students know, understand, and apply character values in everyday life. The conclusion of this analysis is that the story "The Mimic Wolf and the Goat Family" is suitable for use as Indonesian language teaching material to build moral intelligence and early alertness in children. The character education values contained in the children's story entitled "The Copycat Wolf and the Goat Family." Children's stories are a strategic medium for instilling ethics and morality from an early age. Using qualitative descriptive methods, this analysis dissects the intrinsic elements of the story that represent the main character's values such as honesty, alertness (intelligence), and politeness in language. The results of the analysis indicate that this story functions not only as entertainment, but also as a pedagogical instrument for shaping children's personalities so they are able to distinguish between good and evil, as well as the importance of listening to parental advice. The integration of these values is in line with the concept of character education which emphasizes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in the educational and family environment. This paper explores the values of character education in the children's story "The Copycat Wolf and the Goat Family" amidst the digitalization of information. Using descriptive qualitative methods and literature studies, this analysis connects the story's narrative with theories of child character formation. The findings indicate that this story contains crucial values such as intelligence in sorting information (literacy), independence, and honesty. In the digital era, the Wolf character is identified as a symbol of information manipulation (hoaxes), while the goat family represents cognitive readiness and strong character in facing external threats. This article concludes that children's literature remains a relevant pedagogical medium for instilling ethics in both school and family environments. Abstract

This study aims to analyse socio-historical irony and the contestation of hegemony in a short story by Putu Wijaya using the perspective of Antonio Gramsci. A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through close reading and note-taking of textual excerpts indicating hegemonic practices and irony. The findings reveal that capitalist hegemony isconstructed through state discourse and reproduced within the family, shaping the characters’consciousness. The attempt at counter-hegemony by the main character does not fully succeed, as it is ultimately absorbed into the same system. Socio-historical irony emerges when the idealism initially upheld leads to success within capitalist logic, while simultaneously redefining the notion of “teacher” into a symbolic role aligned with dominant values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the elements of literary ecology in Jariman's poetry anthology "Wounds on the Earth's Skin" and examine its relevance in literature teaching materials in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The research is motivated by the deepening environmental crisis in Indonesia and the low ecological awareness among vocational high school students, who tend to be more oriented towards vocational education and practical skills. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods. The primary theory employed is Lawrence Buell's concept of ecocriticism. The research object is all the poems in the anthology "Wounds on the Earth's Skin." Data collection was conducted through a note-taking technique, which includes repeated in-depth reading, recording, classification, and data reduction. The results show that the poetry anthology contains four elements of literary ecology according to Lawrence Buell's perspective: (1) the historicity of non-human elements, which depicts changes in natural conditions from the past to the present; (2) the legitimacy of the interests of non-human elements, which is shown through the personification of nature as an entity with feelings, rights, and interests; (3) human responsibility towards nature, which serves as a primary critique of human greed and negligence. and (4) the dynamics of nature, which depicts the negative impacts of human intervention on the environment. Jariman predominantly uses personification, "past-present" contrasts, and strong metaphors to depict the earth's suffering. This poetry anthology is considered highly relevant as literature teaching materials in vocational schools because it uses simple, easy-to-understand language and its themes directly address current environmental issues. In keeping with the pragmatic characteristics of vocational students, learning with this material is expected to foster ecological awareness, moral responsibility for the environment, and increase student sensitivity and productivity in literature learning.
