Poverty is a major problem for countries in the world, especially in developing countries. The government has implemented various programs to overcome the problem of poverty, one of which is by forming an economic institution that is based on the principles of kinship and democracy which is also called cooperatives. School cooperatives provide real lessons that can not only be found in the classroom, but are also able to lead students to become entrepreneurs. The purpose of this study is to find out whether school cooperatives can foster an entrepreneurial spirit in students. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review method. The number of relevant articles was found as many as 20 studies relevant to the topic raised. The result of this study is that school cooperatives are involved in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit in students.

Abstract

South Africa’s youth unemployment remains high and many young people struggle to move from first opportunities into stable work. This article offers a conceptual synthesis and proposes a Youth Employability Pathways Model, which explains outcomes as the interaction of three pillars: Human capital, institutional intermediation and market absorption. Drawing on recent South African evidence and theory, the paper argues that each pillar is individually insufficient yet jointly necessary and mutually reinforcing. The model treats equity as a structural parameter and emphasises feedback loops to raise conversion from placement to progression. The study contribution to literature is a testable, system-level account that reframes goals from short-term access to durable progression. Policy and practice implications include bundling credible signals with coordinated intermediation and sectoral absorption mechanisms, supported by transport, childcare, mentoring and health services. The paper sets an agenda for empirical testing using linked administrative and platform data to estimate the added value of integrated bundles over single-channel interventions.

Abstract

This study explores the strategies to enhance entrepreneurship education at the University of Venda in South Africa, with the aim of promoting student entrepreneurship and contribute to economic growth and job creation. The research adopted a qualitative research approach; phenomenological design grounded in the constructivist paradigm to gain in-depth insights of students’ experiences in entrepreneurship education. The targeted population comprised University of Venda student-entrepreneurs who participate in entrepreneurship education programmes, and those who are registered for entrepreneurship courses. A convenience sampling technique was used to select 10 students and data was collected through semi-structured face-to-face and telephone interviews according to the research objectives. The collected data was analysed thematically using Atlas.ti version 8.4. the study findings revealed that while entrepreneurship education is present at the university, its effectiveness is hindered by limited practical experience, insufficient institutional support, and outdared curriculum, among other things.  The recommendations made include the suggestion that the University of Venda should collaborate with private companies and government to create internship opportunities for entrepreneurship students to gain hands-on experience. This study is among the first to have managed to identify the strategies to enhance entrepreneurship education. This study was conducted at the University of Venda which means the results may not be generalised in other universities. The researcher, however, further recommends that similar studies can be conducted in other universities to find out any similarities or differences in the conclusions, thereby enlarging the literature on the topic.

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to determine the method of fraud detection. The method used in this research is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with PRISMA Protocol. The steps taken include identification, screening, feasibility testing, and finalization of relevant studies from various leading databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, Emerald, and IEEE Xplore. The results of the study identified eight main methods of fraud detection, namely big data analysis, machine learning algorithms, Natural Language Processing (NLP); Accounting Information Systems, Extremely Randomized Trees (ERT), rule-based systems, blockchain technology, Asexual Reproduction Optimization (ARO), Bayesian A/B testing, and authentication systems. These methods show varying degrees of effectiveness in detecting suspicious transactions and reducing the risk of digital fraud. The research findings not only discuss fraud detection methods, but also analyze the weaknesses and advantages of each method. The findings can be used as a practical reference source in preventing fraud by conducting fraud detection based on the right method.

Student engagement has become a recurring issue in universities across the globe.  This may be due to due to the geometric increase in student enrolment in the universities and the desire of the universities to meet their demands on campus.  As a result, this study investigated the level of student engagement and the influence of salary on student engagement in public universities in southwestern Nigeria. The population of the study comprised all lecturers in the seven federal government owned universities in southwest states of Nigeria with a sample size of 1,250 calculated and derived using Research Advisor’s Table at 95% degree of confidence with 5% error margin. Questionnaire was used to elicit information from respondents.  The study found that, the level of students’ engagement is low and teachers’ salary has significant influence on student engagement in public universities in southwestern Nigeria.  It was recommended that students should be more engaged by lecturers, and that government should increase salary of lecturers in Nigerian Universities.

Abstract

Sustainable development requires preparing the younger generation to engage in agriculture as a backbone of the national economy. This study examines the utilization of Women Farmers’ Groups (Kelompok Wanita Tani, KWT) as a contextual learning resource in the Community Economy course at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The research objectives are: (1) to identify the use of KWT as a learning resource, (2) to classify the obstacles faced in its utilization, and (3) to analyze students’ character strengths in agriculture. A descriptive quantitative method was employed with 178 students as respondents. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The research instrument was validated (83 valid items out of 84, Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.978). Results indicate that KWT significantly improves students’ understanding of agrarian-based Community economy, with increased interest in agribusiness and sustainability awareness. The main obstacles encountered were technical limitations (data access) and psychological barriers (lack of confidence). Student participation in KWT strengthened their character strengths, particularly courage, teamwork, gratitude, and empathy. The findings highlight the relevance of integrating community-based resources in higher education to bridge theory and practice while empowering local agricultural communities.

Abstract

Halal tourism is a rapidly growing segment of the global travel industry, presenting both opportunities and challenges for destinations targeting Muslim travelers. Solo City holds strong potential to become one of Indonesia’s leading halal tourism destinations due to its rich Islamic heritage and multicultural environment. This study integrates collaborative governance, destination branding, and tourist behavior theories, considering the moderating role of sociocultural context and the facilitating effect of policy support. Using data from 463 respondents, including tourists, MSMEs, policymakers, and community leaders, analysis was conducted through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. Findings reveal that visitor behavior, destination branding, and cooperative governance significantly influence the growth of halal tourism in Solo City, with visitor behavior emerging as the strongest predictor, emphasizing service experience, satisfaction, and loyalty. Sociocultural context negatively moderates the impact of branding but positively moderates governance effects, reflecting tensions between local identity and top-down branding. Policy support enhances the influence of both branding and governance through incentives, certification, and regulation. The study concludes that Solo City’s halal tourism development should emphasize stakeholder collaboration, authentic branding, tourist-centered services, culturally sensitive strategies, and supportive policies. Theoretically, this research integrates multiple perspectives in halal tourism studies and provides practical insights for policymakers and tourism stakeholders to strengthen Solo City’s competitiveness in the halal tourism market.
