Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reinterpretation of Nasi Gulung Wonocolo as an effort to preserve intangible cultural heritage in the midst of modernization and changing tastes within the community. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach that includes participatory observation methods, in-depth interviews, and documentation conducted in Wonocolo Village, Bojonegoro Regency. The results of the study show that reinterpretation through innovation in taste, packaging, and promotional strategies is able to maintain traditional values while adapting them to the needs of modern society. Nasi Guroll's integration into the edutourism concept of the Wonocolo Geopark effectively strengthens local cultural identity, increases community participation, and encourages the growth of a culinary-based creative economy. This research contributes to the development of ethnoculinary studies and adaptive cultural preservation, as well as provides practical recommendations for tourism managers and local governments in optimizing the potential of traditional culinary as a sustainable tourism attraction. Further research is suggested to review aspects of digital marketing and cross-sector collaboration to expand the reach of local culinary promotion

Abstract

This narrative review explores the emerging concept of Zillennials, a microgeneration situated between Millennials and Generation Z, by synthesizing existing literature on their defining traits, values, and sociocultural behaviors. The study aims to clarify the characteristics that distinguish Zillennials from their parent generations, addressing the ambiguity surrounding generational boundaries. Using Google Scholar as the primary database, 434 initial sources were screened, resulting in 22 relevant studies. Text Data Mining and thematic analysis were employed to extract recurring themes and construct a coherent generational profile. Findings reveal that Zillennials exhibit hybrid traits, such as being digitally fluent yet cautious adopters of new technologies, valuing work-life balance and flexible arrangements, and demonstrating strong social awareness and ethical consumer behavior. Their communication style favors structured feedback and digital interaction, while their learning preferences lean toward independent, tech-supported methods. As a generational bridge, Zillennials blend the pragmatism of Millennials with the innovation of Gen Z, making them uniquely positioned to mediate cultural and technological shifts. By synthesizing fragmented insights across disciplines, this study provides a consolidated generational profile that advances our understanding of microgenerational identity and its implications. The study concludes that Zillennials should be recognized as a distinct cohort in educational, organizational, and societal contexts. Future researchers are recommended to explore their experiences across diverse settings and examine their responses to rapid digital and economic changes

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the transformation of Malay traditional values in Hikayat Bayan Budiman through an analysis of excerpts or text passages that reflect moral and cultural teachings. Excerpts are used as a basis for tracing how values such as loyalty, honor, wisdom, and respect for family are represented and undergo meaning processing in accordance with the social context of Malay society. The study employs a qualitative approach that includes content analysis and hermeneutics methods. Each excerpt is analyzed to see the process of transformation from traditional customs to a more dynamic and contextual meaning. The results show that the transformation of values in Hikayat Bayan Budiman is found in six excerpts that appear through the delivery of advice, character dialogues, and moral events that emphasize the importance of positive character and local wisdom. The use of excerpts strengthens clear textual evidence regarding the role of hikayat as a medium for both preserving and renewing values, so the results can be optimized for strengthening Malay culture today.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns and functions of Arabic–English code-mixing in Bayou’s song “Call Her Right Now” and to examine its social meanings using Michael Silverstein’s framework of indexical order. The research employs a qualitative approach, drawing on a literature review and textual analysis of the lyrics. The primary data consist of a lyric transcript verified against the audio recording, annotated for types of switching (e.g., insertion, alternation), and analyzed descriptively and interpretively based on principles of indexicality. The results show that the verses are mostly in English, which gives them a cosmopolitan style and serves narrative purposes. The chorus and post-chorus, on the other hand, are mostly in Arabic, which gives them emotional power and shows that they are authentic to the area. The inserted English phrase “call her right now” functions as a cohesive bridge and a marker of prestige. This study contributes by linking micro-linguistic findings on code-mixing in Arabic popular music to indexical order theory, thereby clarifying how linguistic elements construct hybrid identities. Further research is recommended using multimodal and ethnographic approaches (e.g., listener interviews, music video analysis, or corpus-based studies) to empirically test social reception and language-ideological dynamics

Abstract

The investigation of general criminal offenses exhibits several implementation-related phenomena, including wrongful arrests and an overreliance on eliciting confessions from examinees. This study focuses on the investigative process as reflected in the verbaal van verhoor (interrogation record). Within investigative interactions, the object of analysis is the investigator’s MOOD system. MOOD is selected because, as a linguistic resource within the interpersonal meaning domain of Systemic Functional Linguistics, it constitutes the lexicogrammatical basis through which investigators organize meaning exchange in investigative conversations in accordance with particular aims or interests. This research adopts a critical qualitative approach, employed to critically and emancipatorily uncover the realities of investigators’ language use. The study is designed as a case study, examining a general criminal case at the investigation stage within the police institution. The findings indicate that investigative conversations in this case contain 25 instances of MOOD usage by the investigator. The investigator's dominant status and the pursuit of confession drive the interaction, as shown by these results. This study makes two concrete contributions: (1) serving as a reference for the development of emancipatory investigative questioning instruments, and (2) informing the development of teaching materials for forensic linguistics courses using a Systemic Functional Linguistics approach. Future research may employ comparative units drawn from other criminal cases or specific contexts, such as doctor-patient interactions

Abstract

Religious conflict between KH. Shinwani Adra’i and Aswaja ulama in Madura reflects tensions between a text-based orientation toward ritual purification and socio-religious practices that have long been embedded in local culture, particularly devotional traditions such as tahlil and maulid. This study aims to uncover the roots of these tensions and to explain how discourses of difference can be transformed into narratives of peace. The research employs a qualitative approach using Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis model. Data were collected through a literature-based study of YouTube sermons, responses from local kiai, and relevant academic references, then analyzed across three dimensions: text, discursive practice, and social practice. The findings indicate that the conflict arises not only from theological differences but also from competition over the legitimacy of religious authority in digital spaces, which amplifies the conflict’s resonance. However, scholarly clarification and pesantren-based mediation are able to reconstruct the meaning of “difference” as a potential resource for social learning. This study contributes to scholarship on local religious authority and proposes a discourse-based framework for reconciliation.

Abstract

The ability to write free verse poetry among junior high school students remains relatively low due to the limited variety of instructional models that can stimulate creativity and meaningful learning experiences. This condition indicates the urgency of applying more active and contextual learning models. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the experiential learning model assisted by picture media in improving the free verse writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMPN Satu Atap Cikawao, Sumedang. The research employed a pretest–posttest control group design by comparing the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups. The results show that the experimental group experienced a more significant improvement than the control group. The writing scores of students in the experimental group increased from 5.6435 to 7.7739 (an improvement of 2.1304), whereas the control group increased from 5.4533 to 7.0200 (an improvement of 1.5667). In addition, students responded positively to the use of picture media as a stimulus for creativity. These findings confirm that the experiential learning model assisted by picture media is effective in enhancing skills for writing free verse poetry. This study contributes to enriching instructional strategies in Indonesian language learning, particularly in developing creative writing skills. Further studies are recommended to apply this model at different grade levels or school contexts and to examine the integration of other visual media to obtain more comprehensive results.
