Abstract

Objective: To analyze the business model of culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Gresik Regency using nine elements of the Business Model Canvas (BMC). Research Methodology: This study was conducted in Sidayu District and involved four specific culinary MSME brands: Iwan Degan & Es Teler, Kebab Bintang, Pentol Gresik, and Wakul Tengah Sawah. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research type. Data were collected through interviews and observations, using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) as the primary analytical framework. Results: The study found that the most prominent business model elements are customer segments (dominated by students, workers, and local residents), value proposition (affordable prices, quality, and taste), revenue streams (core product sales), key resources (experience, workforce, skills), and core activities (production, sales, promotion). However, the channel and customer relationship elements are not optimally utilized; marketing is limited to simple digital media (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, GoFood), and relationships rely on direct communication without a structured loyalty program. Conclusion: Although the business model currently implemented by culinary MSMEs supports business sustainability, there is a significant need to strengthen channel elements and customer relationships to increase competitiveness and facilitate business development in the digital era. Limitations: This study is limited by its small sample size, focusing only on four culinary MSMEs in one district (Sidayu), which may affect the generalizability of the findings to a wider population of MSMEs. Contribution: This study contributes to the disciplines of business management and entrepreneurship by providing empirical evidence on the application of the Business Model Canvas in the culinary sector. It offers practical guidance for MSME owners in optimizing digital marketing channels and customer relationship management to ensure long-term sustainability

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of Digital Accounting System Effectiveness (DASE) and Digital Accounting System Success (DASS) on Corporate Governance (CG) in the hospitality industry in Indonesia. Research Methodology: This research was conducted in the hospitality industry (hotels) in Indonesia using a quantitative approach. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 200 respondents consisting of hotel managers, accounting/finance staff, and operational employees who use Digital Accounting Systems (DAS). The study employed a cross-sectional survey design. Data analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM. Results: The results show that budgeting system, system quality, information quality, and service quality have a positive and significant effect on corporate governance. Among these variables, service quality is the most dominant factor in improving corporate governance. In contrast, bookkeeping system, AIS security, and IFRS adoption do not have a significant effect on corporate governance in the hospitality context. Conclusions: The study concludes that improvements in corporate governance are more strongly driven by system performance aspects, information quality, service quality, and budgeting practices rather than formal accounting compliance factors. Limitations: The limitations of this study include its focus on the Indonesian hospitality industry and the use of a cross-sectional design, which does not capture changes over time. In addition, the use of self-reported questionnaire data may introduce subjective bias. Contributions: This research contributes to the literature on digital accounting systems and corporate governance by integrating DASE and DASS in the hospitality context. It provides practical implications for hotel managers and policymakers in enhancing corporate governance through improved system quality, information quality, service quality, and budgeting practices.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the role of Attractiveness of Alternatives (AoA) in driving Gen-AI platform switching intention among Indonesian university students. TAM is widely used to explain technology adoption but lacks the ability to account for competitive pull factors in multi-platform environments. Integrating TAM with Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) theory, this study tests the effects of Perceived Usefulness (PUS), Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), and AoA on switching intention, along with the moderating role of AoA. Research Methodology: Data were collected from 444 Indonesian university students who had experience using Gen-AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) through an online questionnaire with purposive sampling. The structural model was analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS 4. Results: PUS and PEU did not significantly predict switching intention, while AoA had a strong positive effect (β = 0.475, p < 0.001, f² = 0.272). The moderating effects of AoA were not supported. Conclusions: In low-switching-cost digital environments, the attractiveness of alternative platforms is the dominant driver of switching intention, while current platform evaluations lose their explanatory power. Limitations: The cross-sectional design and reliance on a student sample limit causal inference and generalizability to other user populations. Contributions: This study identifies boundary conditions under which TAM constructs lose predictive power for switching behavior and empirically validates AoA as the dominant pull factor in Gen-AI platform contexts, supporting the integration of PPM mechanisms into TAM-based switching research. The findings also offer practical insights for Gen-AI providers, emphasizing that competitive positioning matters more than incremental usability improvements.
