Abstract

The need for technology progresses along with the widespread use of science and technology in various fields, especially in education, which is perceived as a solid foundation for the nation's progress. Increasingly tighter global competition also demands every government and country innovate and improve its nation's quality. Therefore, as educational instruments, educators always strive to create a quality education system for Indonesia's better future. Efforts to improve the quality of education in teaching English by adapting to technological advances can be one of the lights for this nation's future, especially in a global pandemic this year. For this reason, the authors initiated the training on the utilization of digital media in online English learning classes for students and alumni in Pontianak. It aims to positively and significantly impact online learning quality for students and alumni of universities in West Kalimantan. This Community Service was conducted by six English lecturers and one RELO trainer from New York, United States. It was held in three stages from July to November 2020. The first stage was training for teacher volunteers who were also graduates from three universities in Pontianak. This stage was carried out online and guided by a representative from the United States RELO, Yuta Otake. In the second stage, the teacher volunteers practiced teaching six classes at a partner school, SMA Santun Untan. The last step was the Virtual English Academic Camp, where students were invited to take part in exciting online academic activities and gameshows for three days. This Community Service has succeeded in providing adequate digital media utilization training in online English learning class to enhance understanding and English language skills for students and alumni of universities in Pontianak. Abstract

Entikong is one of the area of West Kalimantan, which is directly adjacent to neighboring Malaysia. Entikong has a significant degradation potential for the younger generation's character values, especially the value of nationalism. One of the efforts that can be made to strengthen nationalism's character is to instill the values of national character in students. However, on the other hand, many teachers do not comprehensively understand the implementation of school-based character education strengthening (PPK) as mandated by the government. Responding to this requires real effort from various parties, including universities, to participate in socializing this excellent program at the school and community levels. The activity was carried out through training to 22 teachers in the Entikong border area to deliver material related to school-based KDP. The implementation of activities is carried out online via zoom meetings. As a result of this activity, teachers can comprehensively know and understand the implementation of school-based KDP for the border area of Entikong, West Kalimantan.

Abstract

Regardless of the situation, even though there are no signs that the Covid 19 pandemic will end - education must continue to run in accordance with the mandate of the law on the applicable curriculum. As understood by various parties related to mathematics learning in schools, teachers must balance spiritual and social attitudes, knowledge and skills, and apply them in various situations in schools and communities. This mandate implied that the core competence of spiritual attitude KI-1 and KI-2 became the main pillar for KI-3 and KI-4 in all subjects. One of the reasons why these two core competencies were only the tasks of Religion and PPKn subjects, namely spiritual competence and too forced attitudes that interfered with scientific substance and cause confusion and excessive administrative burden for teachers (Kemendikbud, 2017). Assessment of the attitudes of KI-1 and KI-2 had been eliminated in every subject, except for religion and PPKn. However, IP was still included in the writing of the Lesson  Plan (RPP). With a background like this, it implied a problem that deserved to be handled through this PKM activity. The main problem was how to formulate KI-1 and KI-2 into lesson plans and how to measure them in SMP mathematics learning. Through workshops with action research, an implementative lesson plan was produced that fulfills the theoretical principles of planning mathematics learning.

Abstract

One of the important things in implementing 2013 curriculum is integrating 21st-century learning tools and applying them in classroom learning. Therefore, teachers are required to master 21st-century skills properly. The teacher's learning tools must refer to the mastery of 21st-century skills, namely 4C and HOTS. In general, teachers arrange learning tools based on their perceptions, not adjusting the curriculum's demands. Based on this, the socialization of 4C and HOTS-based learning tools was carried out to junior and senior high school science teachers in Paloh. The method used was lectures, discussions and tutorials on making 4C and HOTS-based learning device. Evaluation through filling out questionnaires was carried out after the socialization had been carried out. The observations indicated that the participants gave positive responses to the socialization that was carried out. It was evidenced by very high listening activity and enthusiasm for asking questions. It was supported by a questionnaire where 85% of participants stated that this activity was beneficial.
