Abstract

Mathematics plays a significant role in developing science and technology (also known as IPTEK in Indonesian). However, students' understanding of the contribution of mathematics to the progress of IPTEK still needs to be improved. This study examines the knowledge of senior high school students (also known as SMA in Indonesian) regarding the role of mathematics in developing IPTEK. The method used is a quantitative survey, and questionnaires were distributed to SMA PGRI Cicalengka students. The data obtained were analyzed to determine the level of students' understanding of the relationship between mathematics and its applications in various fields of science, such as physics, biology, and technology. The study results showed that although most students understand mathematics is important in IPTEK, most still need to learn its specific applications in modern technology and scientific innovation. This study suggests the need for more contextual and applicable learning about the role of mathematics in the development of IPTEK so that students can better appreciate and understand the contribution of mathematics in everyday life.

Abstract

The primary product made in Candikusuma Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, Bali, is cocoa. In order to boost community empowerment based on cocoa plantations, including cocoa cultivation and cocoa post-harvest technology, the PM-UPUD initiative seeks to support the growth of farmer groups and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. The operational techniques that are employed include direct practice, monitoring, assessment, surveys, and consultations. The Kusuma Sari Women's Farming Group, a farmer group affiliated with PM-UPUD (Community Service for Regional Superior Product Businesses), is situated in Candikusuma Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, Bali. Partners encounter issues with the caliber of the cocoa beans they produce as well as insufficient knowledge about planting and caring for cocoa trees following harvest. The Kusuma Sari Women's Farmers Group now has the ability to grow cocoa and manage it post-harvest in an integrated and thorough way thanks to PM-UPUD initiatives. The application of cocoa bean fermentation technology and cocoa planting technology are among the talents that the PM-UPUD program partner group will use in 2024. Farming communities now have the ability to create fermented cocoa beans, which are more valuable to consumers. PM-UPUD initiatives have the potential to boost community welfare and revenue, particularly for those in the cocoa producer group.

Abstract

Rapid technological and economic advancement has resulted in the proliferation of environmentally detrimental products and consumption patterns, significantly impacting the environment. Plastic pollution has emerged as a critical environmental concern, with Indonesia ranking fifth among the world's largest plastic waste producers. Annually, Indonesia generates approximately 7.8 million tons of plastic waste, of which 4.9 million tons are inadequately managed. For an extended period, Indonesia relied on a linear economic model characterized by a "take-use-dispose" approach. However, a transition towards a circular economic model is currently underway. In response to the significant environmental challenge posed by plastic waste pollution in Indonesia, the government has strategically introduced the Green Economy initiative. This innovative framework, an integral component of Indonesias 2025-2045 Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN), is founded upon a robust and balanced approach that prioritizes three core pillars: economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental sustainability. In response to these challenges, the researchers devised the "Get Points" program, an acronym for Green Economy, Technology, People, and Industrial Tourism. This program was implemented at Ekowisata Cimenteng, located in Cipageran, North Cimahi District. The primary objective of this initiative is to address plastic waste management concerns while simultaneously fostering economic growth within local communities and among stakeholders. The program was executed through an outreach methodology, accompanied by pre- and post-tests for evaluation purposes. Comparative analysis of the pre- and post-test results revealed a notable increase in participant comprehension of plastic waste management issues. This enhancement was achieved through the integration of financial management seminars, digital marketing workshops, and 3D printing workshops, thereby facilitating economic growth for Ekowisata Cimenteng, local communities and stakeholders.

Abstract

Circular economy literacy efforts are important considering that the waste awareness index in Indonesia is still worrying. If we look at the data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN), food waste dominates the composition of waste based on waste type, namely 40.2 percent. When looking at the source, it is known that households are the largest source of waste (38.3 percent). Considering these data and facts, preventive efforts need to be carried out at the household level, especially regarding food waste. This activity aims to provide education for mothers regarding the circular economy and food waste behavior to minimize food waste, especially in its preparation or better known as food preparation. It is also believed that this effort will have a positive impact on the family's economy. This activity is carried out through the outreach method, and is also accompanied by a pre-test and post-test as a form of evaluation. The locus of the activity will be carried out in Batuan Village, Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency, targeting the local village PKK (family welfare empowerment) team. The aim is that information and activity materials can be distributed and implemented widely. After comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test, it was discovered that there had been an increase in service participants' understanding of the circular economy and food preparation. It is certainly important to continue this activity, one of which is through assistance in preparing circular economy programs through the PKK.
