Abstract

The advancement of digital technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era presents major challenges in the world of education, especially related to moral decline among students, such as identity crises and weakened empathy. Character education is a strategic necessity to overcome these problems. This article examines the importance of character education in building student moral resilience in the digital era through a literature review with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The synthesis of the literature review reveals that effective character education must be implemented in stages according to the student's developmental phase. This staged approach includes value habituation at the Elementary School (SD) level, moral strengthening and critical thinking through discussions and social projects at the Junior High School (SMP) level, and the formation of moral resilience and transcendental valuesthrough reflection and contextual learning at the Senior High School (SMA) level. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role as value facilitators, and collaboration among schools, families, and communities is essential to create a supportive educational ecosystem. This staged and integrated model offers a clear pedagogical framework for educational institutions to cultivate a generation that is not only technologically proficient but also possesses strong ethical and moral resilience in the face of modern value crises

Abstract

The character of cooperative is an important aspect that must be possessed by individuals in everyday life. Therefore, the learning carried out should facilitate the development of students' cooperative character. The problem in this study is that students' cooperative character is still relatively low. This study aims to improve students' cooperative character through the implementation of a deep learning approach based on the batobo tradition in science learning for fourth-grade students of SDN 105 Pekanbaru through collaboration with the principles of mindful, meaningful and joyful learning. The batobo tradition is one of the local wisdoms found in the Riau Province community in the agricultural sector that emphasizes cooperative, communication, and shared responsibility. The research method used is a one-group design pretest-posttest experiment with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the implementation of deep learning based on the batobo tradition in science learning can improve the cooperative character of fourth-grade students of SDN 105 Pekanbaru which was previously medium with a percentage of 57,15% increasing to 81,83% with a high category. This can be seen from studentshelping each other complete assignments in groups, being responsible for individual assignments, respecting the opinions of others, sharing with each other, and being open in expressing opinions. It can be concluded that the implementation of deep learning based on the batobo tradition can be used as an innovative learning method to improve the cooperative character of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of early bedtime habits as a form of disciplined character development on elementary school students' academic achievement. The background of this study stems from the phenomenon of declining student learning quality due to late sleeping habits, which impacts concentration, motivation, and readiness to learn at school. Early sleeping not only affectsphysiological and cognitive aspects but also reflects the formation of discipline as part of character education in elementary schools. This study used a quantitative correlational approach involving 22 fourth-grade students of Kramatwatu 2 Elementary School as the research sample. Data were collected through a questionnaire on student sleep habits and documentation of report card grades as an indicator of academic achievement. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson correlation test using SPSS version 29. The results showed a positive but insignificant relationship between early sleep habits and students' academic achievement (r = 0.095; p > 0.05). This indicates that although early sleep habits contribute to learning readiness and the formation of disciplined character, other factors such as learning motivation, parental support, and the learning environment also influence students' academic achievement. This study emphasizes the importance of implementing early sleep habits as part of character education in elementary schools to support the balance between physical health, mental readiness, and students' academic success.

Abstract

Character education and the development of positive habits, such as waking up early, are crucial for fostering self-discipline and ensuring students' readiness to learn, aligning with the global focus on Non-Cognitive Skills (NCS). This study aims to quantitatively measure and analyze the significant effect of the morning wake-up habit intervention on increasing the learning readiness of fifthgrade students at SDN Blokang. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving 32 students in a single class (total sampling) at SDN Blokang. Data were collected via pre-test and posttest questionnaires using a 4-point Likert scale following a two-week intervention period focused on positive morning routines. Analysis showed a substantial positive effect: student learning readiness increased from a mean of 18.75 to 23.10, with the percentage of students in the high category rising from 31.25% to 93.75%. The Pearson correlation coefficient was highly significant at r=0.877 (p<0.05), and the Effect Size was calculated as d=1.36, indicating a very large impact. The consistent, disciplined morning wake-up habit functions as a highly effective behavioral intervention that significantly enhancesstudents' physical, mental, and emotional learning readiness. This provides strong empirical evidence supporting the integration of morning routines as a primary strategy in character education programs

Abstract

Character education is a crucial foundation for building a well-rounded generation, encompassing responsibility, consistency, and order alongside discipline. These attributes are vital for future-ready learners, aligning directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Quality Education. This study addresses the issue of indiscipline in elementary schools by examining its link to morning waking habits, framed within the principles of Self-Regulation Theory. The main objective was to investigate the influence of morning waking habits on the discipline level of 5th-grade students at SDN Batucina and highlight its academic contribution. A quantitative descriptive correlational design was used with a total sample of 30 fifth-grade students. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The findings indicate a very strong and positive correlation was found between morning waking habits and student discipline (r=0.752; p=0.000), with an effect size of 56.5%. In conclusion, the habit of waking up early is an effective strategy to develop self-regulation skills in young students, fostering consistency and responsibility that directly enhance their discipline. This finding provides crucial implications for designing sustainable character programs and 21st-century education by prioritizing consistent positive habits

Abstract

The low level of social ethics among elementary school students, reflected in rude behavior and a lack of respect for teachers and peers, underscores the urgency of instilling social values through a positive school culture. This study aimed to analyze the influence of the 5S Culture (Smile, Greet, Say Hello, Be Polite, and Be Courteous) on the social ethics of elementary school students. The research used a qualitative descriptive method involving 28 fourth-grade students from one public elementary school in Bandung City, Indonesia, where the 5S Culture had been systematically implemented for more than six months. Data were collected through questionnaires, field observations, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, coding, and interpretation. The findings revealed that approximately 60% of students demonstrated noticeable improvement in social ethics indicators such as politeness, honesty, cooperation, and empathy after the consistent implementation of the 5S Culture. Students became more respectful and responsible in their interactions, particularly toward teachers and senior peers. These results confirm that the 5S Culture effectively strengthens students’ social behavior and supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by fostering inclusive, respectful, and value-based learning environments.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in education has triggered a moral crisis characterized by rising intolerance, cyberbullying, and a decline in digital ethics. While technology offers educational benefits, it often lacks the moral scaffolding necessary for character development. This study aims to bridge the gap between local cultural values and digital education by examining the Gapura Pancawaluya model. It seeks to formulate how Sundanese local wisdom can be operationalized as a pedagogical framework for fostering digital citizenship. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a systematic literature review design. Data were collected from academic documents published between 2015–2025, selected through purposive sampling based on keywords related to ethnopedagogy and digital ethics. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques: reduction, display, and verification. The findings demonstrate that Gapura Pancawaluya transforms abstract cultural values into five applicable digital competencies: Cageur (Digital Wellbeing), Bageur (Digital Ethics), Bener (Information Literacy), Pinter (Critical Thinking), and Singer (Digital Resilience). This integration supports the realization of Manusa Waluya—a holistic human being aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. The study concludes that Gapura Pancawaluya is not merely a traditional artifact but an adaptive framework essential for strengthening character education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of shaping and modeling techniques in differentiated learning for fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is based on the need for a learning approach that not only builds positive learning behaviors but also adapts to the diverse characteristics, interests, and abilities of students, as emphasized in theMerdeka Curriculum. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the shaping technique, implemented through gradual task assignments from easy to difficult, enhances students’ learning motivation. Meanwhile, the modeling technique, in which the teacher demonstrates examples, effectively supports students in understanding the learning material. Moreover, students expressed awareness of diverse learning styles and felt that the teacher's instructional methods suited their individual learning needs. Thus, the implementation of these two behaviorist techniques supports adaptive, engaging, and responsive differentiated learning in elementary education.
