Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Tadhad (antonym) method in acquiring Arabic vocabulary and analyze students' understanding of vocabulary acquired through the Tadhad method in Arabic language learning for 10th-grade students of Class A at SMA ISLAM 1 Surakarta. The study employs a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and document analysis to obtain in-depth data related to students' learning experiences and vocabulary acquisition progress through the antonym method. The findings indicate that the application of the Tadhad method in Arabic vocabulary learning is effective in enhancing students' understanding of new word meanings due to the logical associations between antonyms, improving vocabulary comprehension through semantic relationships and real-world contexts, and helping students gain confidence in speaking Arabic. However, the implementation of this method requires additional strategies, such as the use of contextual examples and repeated practice, to maximize learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of character education in Arabic language learning at MIM Al-Qomariyah Klego. Character education focuses on strengthening moral and ethical values relevant to daily life. In the context of religious education, character development is an integral part of learning, including Arabic language instruction, which teaches Islamic values. This qualitative case study employs observation, interviews, and documentation to explore character education implementation. The results show that character education integration, active-participatory learning methods, and supportive media characterize Arabic language learning at MIM Al-Qomariyah Klego. Supporting factors include teacher commitment and conducive classroom management, while challenges include limited resources and time constraints. This study informs strategies to enhance character education quality in madrasahs.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the interpretation of Qur'anic verses related to the basis of the teaching command for all mankind. Teaching obligations are included in the realm of educational studies. The interpretation of verses of the Qur'an related to the field of education is called the term tafsir tarbawi. Formulate the problems including a) what are the teaching vocabulary in the Qur'an, b) how the ulama interpret the verses about teaching, c) the implementation of the educational value of the verses. This research uses a qualitative method and is described in a descriptive manner (content analysis) in the form of library research. The results of the study concluded that the terms teaching in the Qur'an include 'allama (???????), rabbani (??????) and balligh (????). The verses of the obligation to teach are listed in Surah al-Baqarah verse 33 and Surah al-Maidah verse 67. The value of the implementation of education from these two verses makes people realize that teaching is not solely a professional realm but is actually a divine command, as Allah SWT., commanded the Prophet Adam (as), and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to teach.

Abstract

Purpose – Religious moderation in the digital era, especially in higher education, is critical to counter the spread of radicalism online and foster a tolerant, inclusive youth. This study aims to: (1) examine the use of cyberspace in promoting students’ religious moderation at Muhammadiyah Pacitan Islamic Study Institute, and (2) evaluate the effectiveness of cyberspace in achieving this goal.Method – A quantitative approach with an experimental method was employed, involving an experimental and a control group. Forty students were selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection utilized tests, observations, and interviews, with analysis conducted using N-Gain Scores and Independent Sample T-Tests.Findings – The study revealed that cyberspace is moderately effective in teaching religious moderation, with an average N-Gain Score of 57% in the experimental group, categorized as "Quite Effective." Platforms such as Zoom, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp facilitated interactive learning through videos, infographics, and discussions. The T-test results showed a significant difference between the groups (T-count 5.310 > T-table 2.023), demonstrating a positive impact of cyberspace on students’ understanding of religious moderation. Research Implications – Cyberspace tools like YouTube, Instagram, Zoom, and WhatsApp can effectively support learning in religious moderation. Educational institutions should leverage cyberspace for flexible and efficient material delivery to enhance student understanding.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to explore the essential role of lecturers in enhancing student motivation in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education at Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University (FT UNY).Method – This study employs a qualitative approach with a focus on literature review to examine the role of lecturers in motivating students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education at FT UNY. Interviews are conducted as a complement to provide additional perspectives. The results are expected to offer in-depth insights for developing more effective teaching strategies.Findings – This study found that the role of lecturers as facilitators fostering independent learning, feedback providers, and creators of positive learning environments significantly contributes to students' learning motivation in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education at UNY. Lecturers who provide targeted feedback help students improve their learning strategies, while strong interpersonal relationships increase their confidence and engagement. Additionally, relevant academic challenges and recognition of students' achievements drive learning motivation and prepare them for the professional world. These findings highlight the importance of lecturers' multidimensional roles in supporting students' academic growth. Research Implications – This study underscores the need for institutional support in enhancing lecturers’ roles to boost student motivation. Providing professional development, integrating technology, and adopting project-based learning can improve facilitation, feedback, and engagement, ultimately strengthening student autonomy and academic success.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to explore the implementation of clinical supervision in Islamic schools, with a particular focus on its contribution to improving teaching quality. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the factors influencing the success of clinical supervision within this context.Method – This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through structured interviews with school principals and teachers at MIS Trubus Iman, as well as field observations. Data analysis followed the stages of qualitative analysis, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The research findings indicate that face-to-face clinical supervision between school principals and teachers significantly enhances teachers' reflection on their teaching practices and provides constructive feedback. The structured supervision process, including preparation, observation, and feedback sessions, enables teachers to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their teaching methods. However, the study also identifies challenges such as time constraints and limited management support, which hinder the full effectiveness of the supervision process. Research Implications – This study emphasizes the need for continuous professional development through clinical supervision to enhance the quality of teachers' instruction. However, the research is limited to a single school's context, necessitating further studies in other Islamic schools to validate the findings and broaden the understanding of clinical supervision within this context.

Abstract

Purpose – Learning media innovation for basic plant physiology courses is needed in today's digital era, one of which is through e-modules based on Canva and Educandy Studio. Through this research, the effectiveness of e-module innovation based on the combination of Canva and Education Studio will be studied more deeply to find out how effective the development of a combination e-module is in improving student grades.Method – The study was conducted on 27 Agroecotechnology students, Universitas Andalas, who took the plant physiology course. E-modules and quizzes were created using Canva and Education Studio. The effectiveness of using e-modules is seen based on pre-test and post-test scores, which are analyzed by effect size analysis.Findings – The canva-based basic plant physiology e-module combined with game-based quizzes with Educandy studio can effectively increase student scores by 44.59%. The core material of the e-module is declared valid and feasible with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.84. This innovation succeeded in increasing learning effectiveness by 89%. Research Implications – The innovation of e-modules based on canva and educandy studio as a basic learning of plant physiology can improve student understanding in each physiological process, especially the bright reaction of photosynthesis. This e-module provides a more attractive learning media display and provides an opportunity for students to evaluate independently. The limited features of Canva and Education Studio resulted in not all physiology material being poured in the form of e-modules. However, overall e-module innovation has a significant effect on the level of student understanding.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effects of teacher communication behavior, professional competence, and work ethos on the quality of educational services in private MTs (Islamic junior high schools) within the Batang Barat district, Indonesia. The research addresses the extent to which these factors influence educational service quality, thereby contributing valuable insights into improving school standards to meet community expectations.Method – This quantitative study employed a survey approach, with data collected through validated questionnaires. The sample comprised 164 teachers from MTs Swasta Sub Rayon Batang Barat, selected through specific sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple regression analysis with SPSS version 26 to determine the individual and combined effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. Findings – The results indicate that each independent variable—teacher communication behavior, professional competence, and work ethos—significantly affects the quality of educational services. Furthermore, a combined effect of these variables demonstrates a substantial influence on overall service quality, highlighting the critical role of teacher competencies and interpersonal skills in educational settings. Research Implications – These findings underscore the importance of enhancing teacher training and development programs focused on communication, competence, and work ethic, as these are fundamental to achieving high-quality educational services. The study offers actionable insights for educational administrators and policymakers in formulating strategies and policies to enhance teacher performance, ultimately fostering an improved educational environment aligned with community standards.

Abstract

Purpose – This study explores the survival mechanisms employed by teachers at SDN Campaka, Margamukti Village, in overcoming challenges and utilizing social support to sustain their professional roles.Method – A qualitative research approach was used, incorporating one-session interviews, two-day observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using Creswell’s method, including data preparation, coding, narrative presentation, interpretation, and verification. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of two civil servant teachers (PNS), one government contract teacher (PPPK), and one honorary teacher. Findings – The findings reveal that teachers at SDN Campaka adopt multiple survival strategies to navigate professional challenges. They assume generalist roles beyond teaching, including administrative duties and extracurricular management. Social support, particularly from colleagues and the school community, plays a crucial role in strengthening their coping mechanisms, fostering resilience, and sustaining motivation. Research Implications – This study underscores the importance of psychological well-being and workplace recognition in enhancing teacher motivation and instructional quality. It highlights key strategies such as discipline, adaptability, and engagement in positive activities to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Addressing the unique needs of non-permanent teachers is essential to improving their professional satisfaction and overall effectiveness in the classroom. However, the study is limited to a small sample in one school, requiring further research for broader generalization.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop an instrument for assessing critical thinking skills that meets the criteria for validity, reliability, and good item quality.Method – Preliminary research identified challenges faced by mathematics teachers in designing valid and reliable assessment instruments for students' critical thinking skills. To address this, the study employed a literature review, expert validation, and both limited and expanded trials. Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s validity index, while construct validity and reliability were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Findings – The first-stage trial focused on assessing content validity through Aiken’s validity index. The results indicated that both the construction material and linguistic/readability aspects achieved validity values above 0.5, confirming the instrument’s suitability for high school mathematics learning. The subsequent expanded trial evaluated construct validity and reliability using CFA. The analysis demonstrated that all indicator factor loadings exceeded 0.5, confirming their validity, while construct reliability values exceeded 0.7, indicating reliability. Additionally, the model fit indices showed RMSEA < 0.08, p-value > 0.05, Chi-Square/df < 2, AGFI > 0.9, and GFI > 0.9, confirming that the developed model aligned well with the empirical data. Research Implications – The developed instrument effectively measures critical thinking skills in mathematics learning, meeting the criteria for a robust assessment tool with strong validity, reliability, and model fit. It is recommended for broader implementation in educational settings.
