Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the influence of the Integrated Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model incorporating Tri Hita Karana, a Balinese local wisdom, in enhancing collaborative skills in elementary school social studies learning.Method – This research employs an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a post-test control group design. The study population comprises students from SD Gugus Kapten Japa, Denpasar City, Bali Province. The sample was selected using a random sampling technique, with SD N 22 Dauh Puri serving as the control group and SD N 17 Dauh Puri as the experimental group. Data were collected using a collaboration skills questionnaire based on a four-point scale. Findings – The study results, based on a t-test analysis, indicate a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), suggesting a significant influence of the Tri Hita Karana-integrated PjBL model on students' collaborative skills. This confirms that integrating local wisdom into PjBL enhances students' ability to collaborate effectively. Research Implications – By incorporating Tri Hita Karana into the PjBL model, learning activities become more engaging and foster harmony despite differences, ultimately improving students' collaborative skills while preserving local wisdom. Future research is encouraged to explore other innovative learning models that integrate local wisdom to further enhance 21st-century skills and cultural responsiveness.

Abstract

Purpose – Hidayatullah Boarding School in Bengkulu integrates multicultural Islamic education to address globalization challenges and preserve local culture. This study examines the incorporation of multicultural values into its curriculum and their impact on local traditions.Method – This qualitative case study involves school leaders, teachers, students, and community figures, selected for their roles in implementing multicultural education. The selection process aimed for diverse representation, though further refinement could provide a more comprehensive understanding. Findings – The school combines Islamic teachings with local traditions, such as regional dance, handicrafts, and the Tabot festival, to promote cultural awareness. While students actively engage in cultural activities, the study’s limitations include focusing on one institution and a small sample size. Future research should include multiple schools and use mixed methods for broader applicability. Research Implications – The integration of multicultural values through local cultural practices strengthens students' connection to their heritage, fostering inclusivity and tolerance. The study promotes respect for cultural diversity and appreciation for local traditions amidst globalizations.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to explore the role of Madurese ethnoparenting in shaping young children's social skills. By highlighting core values such as solidarity, cooperation, independence, and politeness, it examines how culturally rooted parenting practices contribute to early social development and their integration into early childhood education.Method – This study employs a qualitative case study approach conducted at TK Muslimat NU Darunnajah Kamal, Bangkalan. Data sources include relevant literature and field data from teachers and parents. Data collection involves in-depth interviews with parents, teachers, and school management, followed by data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing.Findings – The study found that Madurese parenting culture plays a significant role in shaping the social skills of young children. Values inherent in Madurese culture, such as solidarity, cooperation, independence, sociability, friendliness, and good manners, provide a strong foundation for children to learn positive social interactions. Furthermore, integrating Madurese parenting culture into early childhood education practices can create an environment that optimally supports children's social development. This culture helps children understand the importance of positive social relationships while nurturing a sense of responsibility, empathy, and collaboration. Research Implications – This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of ethnoparenting by demonstrating its practical application in early childhood education. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and educators on integrating local cultural values into curricula, thereby creating more inclusive and effective educational models.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the effectiveness of the Mimicry Memorization (Mim-Mem) method in improving Arabic vocabulary (mufradat) mastery among fourth-grade students at MIN 4 Jombang. The research aims to address vocabulary acquisition challenges by exploring how repetition and imitation in Mim-Mem enhance mastery and student engagement.Method – This study employs a quantitative approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. A total of 58 students were divided into experimental (28 students) and control (30 students) groups. Pre-test and post-test assessments measured oral performance in pronunciation, confidence, word choice, and response speed. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Student t-tests. Findings – The experimental group using Mim-Mem achieved an average score of 91.43, significantly higher than the control group’s 70.33 (p < 0.001). The method effectively improved pronunciation, confidence, word selection, and response speed, with a strong effect size (Cohen’s d = 4.755). These improvements indicate that Mim-Mem facilitates deeper retention and faster recall of vocabulary through structured repetition and active engagement. Additionally, students in the experimental group showed increased enthusiasm and participation in learning activities, suggesting that the method not only enhances cognitive retention but also fosters a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment. Research Implications – The study confirms the effectiveness of Mim-Mem in enhancing vocabulary mastery among elementary students. While limited to a specific context, the findings highlight the benefits of repetition-based learning with immediate feedback. Educators are encouraged to adopt and refine this method, while future research should explore its long-term impact and application in other languages and curricula.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates the effectiveness of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual) learning model combined with mind mapping media in enhancing elementary students' interest in science learning. The research addresses common challenges in science education, including limited teaching model variations and students' perceptions of science as a difficult subject.Method – A quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach was employed. Data was collected through questionnaires and documentation from fourth-grade students at MI Miftahul Huda. Findings – The implementation of the SAVI-mind mapping integration yielded significant positive results. Student responses to the learning model showed 83% positive engagement (strong category) and 43% for negative statements (moderately strong category). Learning interest questionnaires revealed 79% positive responses (strong category) and 55% for negative statements (moderately strong category). Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant influence of the SAVI-mind mapping model on science learning interest, with a sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the acceptance of Ha and rejection of H0. Research Implications – This study provides empirical evidence for the effectiveness of combining kinesthetic, auditory, visual, and intellectual approaches in elementary science education. The findings offer educators a validated teaching model that can be easily implemented in elementary science classrooms. The study provides specific guidelines for integrating SAVI principles with mind mapping techniques, making it invaluable for teachers. This study provides a validated and ready-to-use learning model. They can confidently apply this approach because it is supported by strong empirical evidence. Furthermore, the flexibility of this method allows teachers to make adjustments according to the context and needs of their classrooms.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the impact of core training variations on balance and forehand drive abilities in male athletes of the Unimed Tennis Community in 2023. It addresses the issue of inadequate balance when chasing the ball, leading to hitting errors such as balls getting caught in the net, improper racket-ball contact, lack of control, and shots going out of bounds.Method – The research employed an experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The study was conducted at the Unimed tennis court, with a purposive sampling technique selecting six male athletes who met the study criteria. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments of balance and forehand drive performance, with the results analyzed using t-tests to determine the effectiveness of core training variations. Findings – The results showed a significant effect of core training variations on the athletes' balance and forehand drive abilities. The analysis revealed a t-value of 16.813 for balance and 13.636 for forehand drive, both exceeding the critical t-value of 2.015. These findings indicate that core training variations positively influenced both balance and forehand drive performance in male athletes of the Unimed Tennis Community. Research Implications – The study highlights the importance of incorporating core training variations in athletic training programs to improve balance and forehand drive skills. Coaches and sports trainers are encouraged to implement these exercises to enhance performance and reduce errors during play. Future research could explore the long-term effects of core training variations and their impact on other tennis skills or different athlete populations.

Abstract

Purpose – Globalization and the advancement of digital technology have transformed various aspects of life, including education and socialization among students. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media on students' cognitive and social aspects.Method – The study adopts a library research method, reviewing academic literature to explore phenomena such as digital addiction, reduced learning concentration, changes in interpersonal interaction, and challenges in character-building in the digital era. Findings – The findings reveal that social media offers benefits such as easy access to information and the development of online learning communities. However, it also poses negative impacts, including digital addiction, decreased learning concentration, plagiarism, reduced empathy, and social pressures that affect students' mental health. In the cognitive domain, social media addiction disrupts brain function, diminishes critical thinking skills, and weakens learning motivation. In the social domain, the shift to virtual interactions reduces emotional engagement, weakens interpersonal communication skills, and leads to social isolation and cyberbullying. Furthermore, exposure to idealized standards on social media triggers anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Research Implications – This study underscores the need for digital literacy programs to help students use social media wisely and integrate it into educational processes to maximize its benefits. Schools are encouraged to adopt a holistic approach to develop students' face-to-face communication skills, while collaboration among teachers, parents, and students is essential for managing social media use effectively. This study provides insights for educators, parents, and policymakers to understand the impacts of social media and optimize its potential in education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of FlipHoot media in enhancing learning outcomes in Pancasila Education among ten fifth-grade students at SD 3 Jojo. By utilizing a quantitative approach, this research seeks to measure the extent to which FlipHoot can improve students' comprehension and mastery of the subject matter.Method – A quantitative research design was employed, with a test instrument serving as the primary tool for data collection. The study utilized a pretest-posttest comparison to assess learning improvement, complemented by the N-Gain test to quantify the effectiveness of the intervention. Data analysis was conducted to determine whether the use of FlipHoot contributed significantly to students' academic performance.Findings – The results demonstrate a substantial improvement in student learning outcomes. The average pretest score of 44% increased to 86.5% in the posttest, reflecting a 42.5% enhancement in student comprehension. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 0.75 indicates a high level of effectiveness, confirming that FlipHoot media successfully aids in strengthening students' understanding and mastery of Pancasila Education concepts. This suggests that the integration of digital learning tools can facilitate better knowledge retention and engagement among students. Research Implications – The findings of this study highlight the potential of FlipHoot media as an effective educational tool that fosters interactive and engaging learning experiences. By simplifying complex concepts and making learning more dynamic, FlipHoot not only benefits students by improving their comprehension but also assists teachers in delivering materials more efficiently. Given its effectiveness, further research is recommended to explore its broader application across different subjects and educational levels to maximize its impact on learning outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose – The phenomenon of the degradation of the understanding of Pancasila by Generation Z needs to be followed up to foster a spirit of nationalism by internalizing the values of Pancasila. The researcher intends to determine Generation Z’s perception of the importance of Pancasila in realizing the spirit of nationalism in Islamic universities.Method – This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach implemented in the Islamic Religious Education study program of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. The selection of research subjects was carried out using a purposive sampling technique, namely the selection of informants based on the criteria of relevance and experience of informants on the research topic. The data analysis technique in this study uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes three stages: data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Findings – The results of the study show that Pancasila Education has an important influence on Generation Z students. By internalizing the values of Pancasila, Generation Z is expected to have intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual intelligence as well as a sense of love for the homeland and a responsible attitude that is able to play a role in community, national, and state life. Research Implications – This research needs to be conducted in order to foster a sense of nationalism for the young generation of Indonesian citizens through Pancasila and Citizenship education in elementary, middle, and college environments. Thus, the values of Pancasila and the spirit of nationalism will always be embedded in the souls of the young generation and their every behavior so that they will not be carried away by the current of globalization.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the effect of the Bamboozle game on students’ reading ability, aiming to enhance engagement and comprehension through innovative and interactive learning methods.Method – A pre-experimental research design was employed, involving one seventh-grade class at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Lubuklinggau in the 2024/2025 academic year. A total of 33 students participated, with purposive sampling selecting 10 students for detailed analysis. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests to measure improvements in reading comprehension. Findings – The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension, as reflected in the increase in the post-test mean score to 82.7. The calculation of Cohen’s effect size (d = 1.40) confirms a large effect, highlighting the effectiveness of the Bamboozle game in enhancing reading skills. The findings reveal that students showed notable progress in vocabulary acquisition, identifying main ideas, and making inferences from texts. Additionally, the interactive and competitive nature of the game increased students' motivation and engagement, fostering a more dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. The study also found that students exhibited greater confidence in interpreting complex passages and demonstrated improved retention of reading materials compared to traditional methods. Research Implications – The findings highlight the potential of game-based learning in improving reading comprehension and student motivation. Institutions should consider integrating digital tools like Bamboozle into reading instruction and provide teacher training on gamified learning strategies. However, this study's small sample size and short intervention period limit generalizability. Future research should explore long-term effects and application to other language skills.
