Abstract

The condition of Nglele village shows that there is great potential in the yard land that has not been utilized optimally. So far, the fulfillment of community food needs still depends on agricultural products and markets for daily food needs. Food is a basic need for every human being. In addition, there is another problem, namely the lack of public awareness regarding good waste management among the community. The objectives of community service activities in the community partnership program through socialization and practice of making mini-scale aquaponics to optimize home yards for food supplies are as follows: (1) To increase the understanding and skills of the Nglele Village community regarding the use of home yard land, waste management, and basic aquaponic techniques. To encourage people to use yard land. (2) through independent fish and vegetable cultivation. (3) To teach about the management of used gallons to be processed into goods of economic value. To increase public awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and managing natural resources sustainably. The service method used in the implementation of this community service is the Participatory Action Research (PAR). Based on the results of the Community Service Program (KKN-PPM), several things can be identified as follows: This program successfully increased the understanding and skills of participants, especially PKK mothers, about aquaponics. Before the program, only 15% of participants knew the term aquaponics, but after the program, 90% of participants understood it. This activity successfully demonstrated how to convert used gallon waste into productive assets. By utilizing previously suboptimal home yards, participants can produce fish and vegetables to meet family nutritional needs and potentially open up new business opportunities. method.

Abstract

Rural farming in Gedangan Village, Sumobito District, relies on rice as the staple crop and faces rising labor costs, declining farm labor availability, and weather variability that disrupts timely crop establishment. This community service program addressed these constraints by introducing direct seeding of rice supported by a simple manual tool that delivers more uniform seed spacing. The objectives were to strengthen farmer knowledge, demonstrate a low-cost implement that can be fabricated locally, and reduce dependence on scarce labor while maintaining establishment quality. Using a participatory action research approach, the team coordinated with village leaders and farmer groups, conducted a rapid needs assessment, co-designed and built the tool from local materials, delivered classroom briefings, led a field demonstration with guided practice, and facilitated reflective discussion. Evaluation combined pre and post knowledge tests, observation checklists, and participant feedback. Twenty-three farmers completed the activities. Average knowledge scores increased from 48.7 to 79.4 (scale 0–100), and farmers reported faster planting, more uniform spacing, and reduced seed use. The village received a working prototype for continued use, and farmer leaders committed to replicate the tool and plan a direct-seeding schedule for the next season. The program provides a practical, replicable pathway for smallholders to adopt direct seeding that improves efficiency and supports resilience under labor constraints and variable weather.

Abstract

Dependence on inorganic fertilizers remains a global problem often faced by farmers. Inorganic fertilizers provide quick results but have a negative impact on the environment if used in the long term. Therefore, environmentally friendly fertilization alternatives are needed, one of which is the use of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) derived from natural materials that can be processed independently by farmers. In Mentoro Village, most farmers and local communities still have minimal knowledge about the use and production of POC. The community service team held a socialization and training session for villagers on how to make POC from kitchen waste, namely shallot skins. The community service activity was held on August 20, 2025, at the Menturo Village Hall. The activity successfully increased participants' understanding of the use of household organic waste to produce liquid organic fertilizer (POC). Participants were able to practice making POC directly, from selecting materials, fermenting, to applying it to plants. The use of household organic waste to produce liquid organic fertilizer (POC) makes it easier for the community to obtain environmentally friendly fertilizer at a more affordable cost.

Abstract

The majority of the population in Kedungpapar village work as farmers, as evidenced by the large amount of agricultural land available, but these rice fields have not been optimally utilized, as evidenced by production results that do not meet planned targets. One factor contributing to suboptimal rice or corn harvests is that the soil used has a pH that differs significantly from the optimum pH, which tends to be significantly different, making the fertilizer applied difficult for plants to absorb, thus disrupting plant growth. Therefore, researchers created a smartphone-based nutrient detector that can be accessed anytime and anywhere. The approach method for implementing community service activities in the KKN-PPM program uses a community-based research method, namely explanations from resource persons to partners. Through socialization and direct practice in the field, farmers gain new knowledge about the importance of soil pH, how to use digital pH measuring instruments, and steps to handle if the soil pH is not appropriate. This activity is expected to improve harvest quality, fertilizer use efficiency, and farmer welfare in a sustainable manner
