Abstract

This study explores a sustainable human resource development management model for Generation Z by integrating Islamic pedagogy and vocational skills within the context of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). The increasing demand for balancing spiritual and professional competencies in Islamic educational institutions necessitates structured management strategies. This research employs a qualitative approach using case studies and in-depth interviews with pesantren administrators and students. The findings reveal that structured curriculum design, digital-based training, and direct involvement in various professional sectors significantly enhance students' employability while maintaining their religious commitment. The integration of vocational training with Islamic education fosters holistic personal development, equipping students with the necessary competencies to navigate the modern workforce. This study contributes to the discourse on transformative Islamic education by demonstrating how structured management can effectively prepare Generation Z for both spiritual and professional success.

Abstract

Environmental conservation issues have become a central concern in the discourse of Islamic education, particularly in efforts to internalize sustainability values into Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in higher education. This article aims to analyze the representation of ecological conservation values in two commonly used IRE textbooks, employing a qualitative analysis approach grounded in Islamic ecotheology. Data were obtained through document analysis of the IRE textbook published by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) and the textbook authored by Dr. Nurhasanah, as well as through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with five IRE lecturers from four universities. The findings indicate that conservation values are more dominantly presented implicitly, with the category of "Khalīfah and Trust (Khalīfah and Amānah)" emerging as the most prominent narrative, while "Ecological Spirituality" receives minimal explicit attention. These differences in presentation style yield important pedagogical implications, especially regarding the lecturer's role in interpreting implicit values. The contribution of this article lies in offering the Islamic ecotheology framework as both an analytical and pedagogical approach to strengthening value-based sustainability education within the Islamic tradition. These findings underscore the importance of transforming the IRE curriculum from a normative narrative to a more contextual and reflective, transformative approach.

Abstract

Moral decadence among madrasah students is increasingly alarming in the era of globalization and digitalization, as indicated by behaviors such as bullying, truancy, and a lack of courtesy. This phenomenon reflects the weak internalization of moral values despite the religious-based educational setting. MTs Nurwahid Gunung Sari has responded to this issue by implementing 21st-century manners education integrated into its curriculum. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of 21st-century manners education in shaping students’ character to become morally upright individuals. The main hypothesis states that integrating manners values can reduce deviant behaviors and strengthen students’ moral resilience amid globalization. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving ninth-grade students, teachers, the principal, and the vice principal of curriculum affairs. Data collection techniques included observations, in-depth interviews, and document studies, analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ civility, exemplary behavior, and tolerance. Approximately 87% of students successfully applied manners values in daily life, although some still required further guidance. These results confirm that 21st-century manners education is effective as a preventive strategy against moral decadence. Further discussion highlights the need for content diversification and strengthening of the learning environment to optimize character formation and enable students to face global challenges with dignity.

Abstract

The Society 5.0 era demands experts in STEM fields, but interest in STEM study programs is declining. In West Sumatra, only 1.5% of new students choose STEM study programs. There is a gap between the vast opportunities available and the low interest of students in STEM. Based on literature analysis, it was found that family is an important factor in career choice. Therefore, it is considered necessary to review this based on family support. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive comparative method on 331 high school students in West Sumatra, then measured using the chi-square test to examine the difference in the proportion of family support for STEM program choices. This study employs Lent's Social Cognitive Career Theory to illustrate the ideal state of alignment between students' talents and interests in their career choices. This study aims to prove the hypothesis that there are differences in program choices among high school students in West Sumatra when viewed from the perspective of father and mother support. From the hypothesis analysis, the following novelties were found: (1) parents do not agree on their children's program choices, (2) father support influences students to choose STEM programs, while mother support does not. This study has implications as a comparison with previous studies and has the potential to assist high school students in making appropriate program choices and enhancing fatherly support through the optimization of information, career, and family services.

Abstract

Education in pesantren is structurally dynamic, both as a medium and as a result of the daily interactions between kiai and santri. However, this duality of structure is rarely studied in depth, giving the impression that education in pesantren is merely a finished product. This research is intended to describe the development of pesantren education in the dual social change perspective of Anthony Giddens. This research uses a qualitative approach to the literature review type, which is complemented by field research. Data was obtained using documentation and observation techniques and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research show that education at the Bahrul Ulum Pesantren is experiencing very dynamic and complex developments. Formal education units have developed in a highly diverse manner. Likewise, pesantren units, as non-formal institutions and as places for students to live, are growing increasingly complex. This development combines preservation efforts with promoting social change. In line with Anthony Giddens' perspective, this development occurred because of the duality between the creativity of the kiai and the bunyai, as agents, and the needs and development of society, as the structure. However, this study also found something different. The existence of the pesantren as a kind of holding institution means that kiai and bunyai are not merely individual agents but are always connected to other agents interactively in determining the development of their education.

Abstract

The role of Baitul Mal in financing Dayah education in Aceh Singkil Regency and Subulussalam City faces several problems, including the limited and uneven allocation of ZIS funds for Dayah, especially in remote areas, the lack of coordination and transparency in fund distribution hampers the effectiveness of distribution, and low public awareness of ZIS contributions to Dayah education reduces the potential for fundraising. This study uses a library research method. The main data sources in this study are reference books that discuss Baitul Mal, zakat, infaq, sedekah (ZIS), and Dayah education. The findings underscore that (1) Baitul Mal in Aceh Singkil and Subulussalam channels ZIS contributions through mosques, zakat agencies, and digital platforms, yet dedicates only 20–30 percent to Dayah, resulting in uneven distribution and limited transparency; (2) further optimization is impeded by weak coordination with Dayah administrators, opaque distribution processes, limited public awareness of ZIS’s impact on Dayah education, and constrained administrative capacity; and (3) the allocated funds have fostered meaningful improvements—upgrading facilities, empowering teachers through professional development, refining curricula, and awarding scholarships to deserving students.

Abstract

This article aims to obtain information related to the integration model, the implementation of integration, and the process of strengthening the values of wasathiyah Islam based on the integration of the National and Local curriculum (Pesantren) at SMA Syubbanul Wathon located in Secang, Magelang, Central Java. Through a qualitative approach, Case study data were collected using observation techniques, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and several informants. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the formal educational institution, SMA Syubbanul Wathon, is closely tied to the Pesantren API foundation as its principal manager; therefore, the integration Concept in place is an institutional integration between the School and the Pesantren within one area. Second, the process of integrating the School and Pesantren curricula in terms of learning is carried out through the Sift model, which involves dividing the day into morning and afternoon sessions. Third, the process of strengthening the values of Wasathiyah Islam is integrated between the two institutions, implemented through a multi-strategy approach that includes habituation, learning, and integrated religious studies within the school and pesantren/complex environment, covering various Aswaja study materials, the Yellow Book Aqidatul Awam, Minhajul Abidin, Fatkhul Qorib, Fathul Mu’in, Ta’limul Muta’alim, and several other classical Yellow Books.

Abstract

The problem of violence and bullying in the educational environment, especially madrasas, is still a serious challenge that has an impact on the comfort and safety of students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of synergy between parents and madrassas in preventing violence with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. Through mentoring at MI Qomarul Wathon Lamongan, this research involves problem mapping, the preparation of anti-violence SOPs, education for students and parents, and the implementation of parenting programs as a form of strategic collaboration. The study's results demonstrate that a strong and structured partnership can create a safe learning environment, increase awareness of the dangers of violence, and cultivate an empathetic and moral character in children. These findings confirm that the synergy between parents and madrassas is crucial in building a violence-free generation and can serve as a model for replication in other madrassas.

Abstract

Changes in the form of higher education are not only about departmental restructuring, but also about the university's role in managing human resources, organizational culture, and its openness to new experiences and methods. This study examines the effect of organizational change on lecturers' learning innovation, with a focus on the moderating role of openness to experience, in three private universities in East Java Province. The survey design used in this study is quantitative and non-experimental.  Purposive sampling was used to choose 151 academics in total to take part in this survey study. The collected data were then analysed using the SmartPLS 4.0 application and the IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 for descriptive analysis of the frequency of respondents' answers. The results of the SMART-PLS 4.0 research showed that 1) organizational change had a 77.3% impact on openness to experience.  2) Learning innovation was 48.0% impacted by organizational change.  3) Learning innovation is impacted by openness to experience by 40.6%.  Organizational change increases receptivity to experience, which has a 13.5% impact on learning innovation. The study's findings should motivate instructors to share more information, thereby enhancing their own capacity for innovation and positively impacting student achievement in higher education.
