Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile represents a concrete manifestation of the national education goals and serves as a fundamental reference in formulating educational policies, including religious literacy. This study aims to identify the noble values of local wisdom in South Sulawesi that contribute to the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5), and explore the patterns of integrating local wisdom values into the implementation of P5. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection methods included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with the researcher acting as the primary research instrument. The research findings confirm that local wisdom values have been incorporated into the learning process to strengthen the P5 program in schools. Each dimension of P5 includes elements of local wisdom: D1 incorporates the values of mallise ale and mabbokong; D2 integrates sipakatau, sipakainge, and sipakalebbi; D3 reflects asunpololo; D4 includes agettengeng; D5 emphasizes amaccang; and D6 upholds the value of reso. These values are embedded through intracurricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities. The intracurricular approach can also be implemented through project-based or problem-based learning models, encouraging students to think critically about local issues as a means of reinforcing national integration.

Abstract

The moral crisis and the rise of materialism among students indicate a gap in Islamic education, particularly in shaping spiritual character. This study aims to examine the internalization of Sufi (tasawuf) values in the teaching of Aqidah Akhlak at Madrasah Aliyah Normal Islam Putera Rasyidiyah Khalidiyah Amuntai. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and analysis of learning documents. The findings reveal that Sufi values such as sincerity (ikhlas), patience (sabar), trust in God (tawakal), and detachment from materialism (zuhud) are effectively integrated through reflective learning, teacher role modeling, and the strengthening of the school’s spiritual culture. The internalization process primarily occurs through the hidden curriculum, which is manifested in daily routines and the school's religious atmosphere, rather than through formal instruction. This study highlights the transformative potential of the Sufi approach in shaping students’ moral and spiritual character holistically. Through the application of Sufi values, the madrasah serves not only as an educational institution but also as a spiritual training ground that fosters self-awareness, sincerity, and closeness to Allah SWT within students.

Abstract

Character education based on Islamic values is a crucial aspect in the formation of students’ personalities, especially in vocational education environments with a semi-military system. The campus environment, encompassing physical, social, and cultural aspects, is believed to play a strategic role in the process of internalizing Islamic values. However, the extent to which these elements contribute to the Islamic behavior of students is still rarely studied in depth. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the impact of the campus environment on the internalization of Islamic educational values. The approach employed was qualitative descriptive, utilizing data collection techniques that included participatory observation and in-depth interviews with six final-year students, two lecturers, and two campus staff members. Data analysis was conducted thematically, through coding, categorization, and the identification of key themes that describe the relationship between the physical, social, and cultural aspects of the campus and the practice of Islamic values. The study’s results indicate a gap between the availability of worship facilities and religious programs, and the internalization of Islamic values in students’ daily behavior. Student participation tends to be formal and inconsistent, while semi-military discipline has not been fully integrated with the development of Islamic character. The social and cultural environment of the campus has not formed a collective culture that supports the practice of Islamic values as a whole. These findings confirm that strengthening Islamic educational values requires synergy between campus structure, social interaction, and culture, not just through the provision of formal facilities or programs. The implications of this research can serve as the basis for formulating a more effective Islamic character development strategy in semi-military vocational education.

Abstract

As one of the oldest forms of Islamic education in the archipelago, dayah has undergone significant transformations in response to the challenges of the times. This study examines the historical and curricular role of Dayah Modern Darul Ulum YPUI Banda Aceh as a pillar of adaptive and progressive contemporary Islamic education. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through historical methods and field studies, including interviews, observations, and institutional documentation. The results of the study show that the transformation of the education system in this dayah includes the integration of classical Islamic knowledge (kitab kuning) and the national curriculum, participatory collective leadership, and adaptation to formal education regulations such as Law No. 18 of 2019 and Qanun Aceh No. 9 of 2018. The curriculum is designed holistically with a thematic approach and the instilling of values of adab. The educational process takes place not only in the classroom but also through boarding school care, spiritual activities, and alumni involvement. The important findings of this study confirm that the integrative model applied not only preserves the authenticity of Islamic scholarly traditions, but also strengthens the competitiveness of graduates in facing the demands of the 21st century. The active participation of alumni and legal legitimacy through state policies show that modern dayahs are able to synergize with the national education system without losing their cultural identity.

Abstract

The transformation of traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in peripheral areas such as Aceh Singkil reflects an adaptive response to the demands of Islamic education modernization, social challenges, and the need to integrate Islamic values within contemporary society. Pesantren are no longer merely centers for classical religious transmission; they have evolved into dynamic institutions capable of educational, social, and religious innovation. This study explores the transformation strategies implemented by three prominent pesantren in Aceh Singkil Dayah Babussalam, Darul Muta’alimin, and Darul Hasanah focusing on the integration of educational, social, and religious dimensions. This research employed a qualitative case study approach with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The analytical framework used was Talcott Parsons' AGIL model (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, Latency). The findings reveal that each pesantren pursued distinct innovations: curriculum integration, digital learning initiatives, alumni involvement in institutional reform, and the promotion of Islamic moderation through leadership and community outreach. These institutions have successfully built integrative models rooted in traditional values while remaining responsive to contemporary demands. The transformation observed is evolutionary, collaborative, and centrally led by kyai figures who serve both as preservers of tradition and agents of change. This study contributes to the discourse on adaptive Islamic education models that retain salafiyah authenticity while meeting global educational challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine Western educational philosophy theories and highlight the urgency of Islamization of educational knowledge as a response to the value crisis caused by secular approaches in modern education systems. Western educational philosophy, dominated by rationalism, empiricism, pragmatism, and existentialism, tends to reduce the human being to a rational or material entity, neglecting the spiritual dimension and the ultimate purpose of life. In the context of the Muslim world, the uncritical adoption of Western educational theories can lead to value disorientation, secularization of educational goals, and the weakening of students’ Islamic identity. Therefore, the Islamization of educational knowledge is an urgent necessity to establish an educational paradigm rooted in divine revelation, integrating both rational ('aqlī) and scriptural (naqlī) knowledge, and oriented toward the development of the ideal human being (insān kāmil). This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, analyzing the thoughts of key Western educational thinkers and the concept of Islamization as articulated by Muslim scholars. The findings indicate that Islamization is not merely a process of purifying the curriculum from secular elements, but an epistemological project aimed at restoring education to its essential nature—as a means of tazkiyah (soul purification) and the cultivation of adab (proper conduct). The practical implications of educational Islamization call for curriculum reform, teacher training, and evaluation systems grounded in Islamic values in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This research departs from concerns about the stagnation of Islamic educational thinking in Padangsidimpuan City, where textual, authoritative, and repetitive bayani reasoning models still dominate. In the midst of increasingly complex social dynamics and the demands of the times, local Islamic education often exhibits resistance to rational and critical approaches, thereby becoming entrenched in epistemological conservatism. Using a qualitative-critical approach and the analytical lens of Islamic epistemology, Abid al-Jabiri, this study examines in depth how the role of Islamic intellectuals and educational institutions in Padangsidimpuan not only reproduces traditions but also structurally hinders the emergence of a renewal paradigm. The results of the study show that bayani reasoning still dominates in the curriculum structure, institutional orientation, and local intellectual mindset. Meanwhile, transformation efforts through rational, contextual, and dialogical approaches are still partial and have not yet become mainstream in the discourse of Islamic education. This research recommends a bold and systemic epistemological reorientation by empowering local intellectuals as agents of thought reconstruction, as well as reorganizing educational curricula and institutional practices based on the integration of bayani, burhani, and ‘irfani reason. Thus, Islamic education in Padangsidimpuan can move out of intellectual stagnation towards an authentic, progressive, and reality-rooted transformation.

Abstract

The persistence of intolerance and discrimination in schools remains a serious challenge to creating an inclusive and harmonious learning environment. Although Indonesia upholds the value of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, cases of social intolerance continue to occur, showing that tolerance and respect for diversity have not been fully internalized in education. Therefore, multicultural education plays a crucial role in strengthening the global diversity dimension within the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) under the Merdeka Curriculum.  This study aims to analyze the role of multicultural education in the Pancasila Student Profile Reinforcement Project (P5) in developing students’ tolerance, empathy, and openness toward cultural diversity. The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Salatiga using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model.  The findings show that integrating multicultural education into P5 effectively shapes students’ respect for differences, cross-cultural awareness, and collaborative communication skills. Moreover, it supports the formation of an inclusive school culture aligned with Pancasila values. The study implies that strengthening multicultural-based character education through curriculum development and teacher training is essential for nurturing globally minded, tolerant, and socially responsible students in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze parental expectations for character education at Pesantren Darul Arqam Garut, evaluate the relevance of the character education program to these expectations, and propose recommendations for developing a responsive curriculum. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through observation, interviews, document analysis, and questionnaires from 72 parents, 5 administrators, and 10 educators. The findings indicate that parents expect the formation of Islamic character, discipline, exemplary behavior, staff hospitality, and active involvement through parenting programs. The character education programs, such as Teenage Morality Development, Anti-Bullying Training, and Islamic Parenting Class, are highly relevant to these expectations, supported by religious habituation and the values of KH. Insan Padi. However, parental involvement shows the lowest satisfaction rate (85.7%), indicating the need for increased frequency and variety in parenting programs. The program's relevance to parental expectations strengthens the pesantren's role as a trusted institution for character education. Recommendations include enhancing the intensity of parenting classes, providing hospitality training for staff, and improving inter-institutional coordination. This study contributes to the development of a pesantren-based character education model aligned with the needs of families and society.

Abstract

Biology learning at the senior high school level often involves complex material that requires not only deep understanding but also high motivation. Observations at SMAN 3 Panyabungan revealed that students demonstrated low levels of critical thinking and interest in learning, as the teaching approach primarily relied on textbooks and worksheets without incorporating engaging or contextual media. To address this issue, a Biology Learning Module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) was developed, integrating the local wisdom of Lubuk Larangan. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing the ADDIE model, which comprises analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects were Grade X Phase E students of SMAN 3 Panyabungan in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected using validity questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, motivation questionnaires, and test instruments. The developed module achieved a validity score of 95.6% (very valid) and a practicality score of 4.0 (very practical). In terms of effectiveness, the module significantly improved students’ critical thinking skills and increased their learning interest, with an average percentage of 73.2% (classified as good). The Biology Learning Module, based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and integrated with Lubuk Larangan local wisdom, is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ motivation, learning interest, and argumentation skills, particularly in ecosystem-related topics.
