Abstract

This study examines the nyusur tanah tradition in Dayeuhluhur Village, Cilacap, as a concrete manifestation of living hadith, where Islamic teachings are continuously reinterpreted through local cultural practices. Although post-death rituals are widely practiced among Muslim communities, there has been limited scholarly focus on how specific hadiths, such as the narration concerning Jaʿfar bin Abi Thalib, are integrated into communal traditions. This research employs a qualitative, phenomenological method grounded in postpositivist philosophy, involving fieldwork through in-depth interviews and participant observation with religious leaders (kiai) and residents. The study reveals a unique practice in which neighbors, not the bereaved family, prepare food for mourners, an inversion of dominant funeral customs. This practice is rooted in the Prophet's instruction to support grieving families, reflecting how hadith operates as a dynamic moral guide rather than solely a textual source. The Kiai are vital as cultural brokers, aligning tradition with Islamic values. This study contributes to the discourse on living hadith by demonstrating its role in sustaining cultural identity while maintaining religious authenticity within a plural cultural landscape.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the integration of sufistic education in the formation of students' character with a sufistic educational approach, which focuses on the development of spiritual, emotional, and moral aspects. Because most character education still focuses on cognitive and behavioral approaches without integrating spiritual approaches. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies of learning activities and sufistic-based character strengthening programs. The research informants consisted of teachers, students, and principals who were selected purposively. The data obtained was analyzed thematically through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, with data validity tests carried out through triangulation of sources and techniques. This study found that the integration of sufistic values using the methods of takhalli (self-cleansing), tahalli (filling oneself with positive values), and tajalli (manifestation of spiritual values in action) can improve the quality of students' character. The implication of this study is the importance of integrating sufistic value-based character education in the educational curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive instrument for the Islamic Education course examination. Because the implementation of the Comprehensive Examination is still partial, flexible, and not yet supported by an instrument that has gone through a systematic quality testing process, it employs a research and development (R&D) approach, adopting a modified version of the Borg and Gall development model, which consists of seven stages: (1) research and information gathering, (2) planning, (3) development of the initial product, (4) limited trial, (5) revision of the initial product, (6) field testing, and (7) final product revision. Data were collected through interview guidelines and questionnaires to examine the theoretical and empirical characteristics of the test items. Data analysis was conducted using the R Studio application to determine item discrimination, difficulty level, and distractor effectiveness. The results indicate that the final product consists of 5 difficult items (25%), 12 moderate items (60%), and three easy items (15%). In terms of item discrimination, eight items (40%) were classified as very good, seven items (35%) as good, and five items (25%) as requiring revision. Regarding distractor effectiveness, 17 items (85%) were categorized as good, while three items (15%) were considered requiring revision. Based on the development of comprehensive instruments, the Islamic Education course shows good quality and is suitable for use.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of school-based management, especially the role of school committees in the preparation of budgets and revenue plans at SMKN 1 Bone. This research aims to identify and document the key roles of the School Committee, analyze the process of preparing budgets and revenue plans, and highlight the committee's contribution to this process. Qualitative research methods were used, utilizing social and management approaches to understand the role of committees in preparing the School Budget and Revenue Plan (RAPBS). Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving primary sources such as committee chairs, secretaries, principals, and educational staff, along with secondary data from related literature. The findings reveal that the committee acts as an advisor, supporter, supervisor, and liaison between the school and parents. They play an active role in meetings with schools, offering input and approving the RAPBS. The committee also handles parents' concerns, evaluates school needs, and provides financial support. In addition, they oversee the school's financial management, organize community support, and identify critical resources for the preparation of the RAPBS.

Abstract

This study fills a critical gap in understanding how Islamic values are meaningfully integrated into vocational education programs across Indonesia's Islamic higher education institutions. It investigates the integration of Islamic values into the vocational training program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Bone, and hypothesizes that such integration significantly contributes to students' character development. Using a qualitative approach based on a logic model mini-assessment, the research involved interviews, observations, and document analysis to evaluate the program's inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes, and impacts. The findings reveal that Islamic values are embedded not only through formal curriculum but also through informal mentoring, a religiously supportive environment, and reflective practices. These results highlight that strong foundational inputs and intentional soft skills development, reinforced by educators’ role modeling, effectively shape students' character and offer a replicable framework for value-based vocational education.

Abstract

The determination of Minimal Completion Criteria (KKM) based on intelligence often equates students with high and low intelligence levels, resulting in students with high IQs feeling bored and saturated due to the lack of targets that align with their intelligence capacity. This study aims to describe the implementation of intelligence-based KKM at Madrasah Aliyah Persatuan Islam Sindangkasih Ciamis, starting from the planning process, implementation, and the results of KKM implementation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. The research findings show that: First, the planning for the implementation of IQ-based KKM at Madrasah Aliyah Persatuan Islam Sindangkasih Ciamis involves measuring students' IQ and talents by involving psychological institutions. The results of the IQ measurements are then converted into KKM scores. Second, the implementation of IQ-based KKM involves cooperation between all school stakeholders, including the principal, deputy head of the curriculum field, PAI teachers, BK teachers, and parents, as well as monitoring and evaluating the learning process and student learning outcomes. Evaluation is carried out through formative and summative tests. Some of the obstacles faced include the absence of IQ data for transfer students or those who have not taken the IQ test, as well as issues faced by students in studying that prevent the achievement of the set completion criteria, such as limited infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of religious character on the development of students' social and national identities in higher education, encompassing tolerance, patriotism, politeness, nationalism, and cultural openness. The research employed a quantitative approach, involving an online survey of 1,025 students from three public universities in West Java. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that religious character significantly influences patriotic character (β = 0.653, f² = 0.744), tolerant character (β = 0.317, f² = 0.134), and polite character (β = 0.132, f² = 0.028). Patriotic character, in turn, has the most potent effect on nationalistic character (β = 0.841; f² = 2.426), which significantly influences culturally respectful character (β = 0.558). The model also confirms that the influence of religious character on nationalism and cultural openness is indirect, mediated through patriotic and nationalistic characters. These results highlight the sequential and integrative formation of national character, beginning with the internalization of spiritual values and extending to inclusive civic attitudes. The model makes a theoretical contribution to the character education discourse and supports the design of curricula that integrate religiosity and national values to address identity fragmentation in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Pesantren are now confronted with both significant challenges and opportunities in the digital era, particularly with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This study aims to examine AI’s role as a bridge between spirituality and technology within pesantren, and to identify its potentials, challenges, and implementation strategies that align with pesantren values. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, the research analyzes AI applications across several educational dimensions, including personalized learning, administrative efficiency, development of digital and entrepreneurial skills, and decision‐support systems. The findings reveal that AI enhances instructional effectiveness by adapting materials to meet students’ individual needs, streamlines administrative workflows, and fosters edu-technopreneurial ventures. Nonetheless, AI integration encounters ethical and cultural challenges, especially regarding data protection and the preservation of pesantren traditions. Through prudent, ethics-based implementation strategies, AI holds promise for reinforcing pesantren’s mission to cultivate a generation that is technologically proficient without forsaking its spiritual and cultural foundations.

Abstract

Education in Islamic boarding schools remains predominantly rooted in traditional models that demonstrate limited adaptability to contemporary technological innovations. At the same time, these institutions face the imperative to endure and evolve in order to fulfill their enduring educational mission. This study examines the innovation of hybrid learning methods in pesantren as a solution to the challenges faced by Islamic education in the digital era. The hybrid approach integrates traditional face-to-face instruction with structured, technology-based digital learning. This model offers increased flexibility, accessibility, and a more contextualized learning experience without relinquishing the Islamic values that define pesantren. Through a literature review and thematic analysis, the research reveals that the hybrid model enhances santri’s twenty-first-century competencies—such as digital literacy, collaboration, and problem-solving—while maintaining their religious character. Additionally, the study proposes a holistic framework for the implementation and evaluation of hybrid learning, encompassing cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and digital-ethical dimensions. Effective and sustainable realization of this innovation demands synergistic collaboration among government authorities, pesantren administrators, and educators.

Abstract

The integration of local scholars (‘ūlama’) thoughts into Islamic Religious Education materials in schools has been little discussed in the academic realm. This article aims to reveal the thoughts of West Kalimantan scholars on Islamic law and its relevance to Islamic religious education materials in schools. This type of research uses a qualitative approach to library research and historical studies. The historical approach the author uses to trace the development of thought among West Kalimantan scholars, especially in the field of Islamic law. The findings of this study demonstrate that the thinking of West Kalimantan scholars in Islamic law is relevant to Islamic religious education materials at the high school level. The findings of this research are based on the thoughts of H. Ismail Mundu, as presented in his works, namely, Kitāb Jaduwal Nikah, which discusses marriage, and Kitāb Majmu’ al-Mirath fi hukm al-Faraid, which explores the science of inheritance law. This research has limitations because it only focuses on Ismail Mundu’s thoughts on Islamic Law. Further research can compare the thoughts of West Kalimantan scholars and their relevance in Islamic religious education materials.
