Abstract

Learning motivation is an internal drive that plays a crucial role in determining students academic achievement. To enhance this motivation, one effective strategy is the use of classical guidance services with the cooperative learning model, specifically the team game tournament (TGT) type. This study aims to: (1) analyze differences in students' learning motivation before and after receiving classical guidance services using the TGT model, (2) compare the learning motivation between the experimental group and the control group, and (3) assess the effectiveness of special treatment on the experimental group compared to the control group without such treatment. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasiexperimental design. The population consisted of 334 students at SMP Negeri 1 Rengat, with a sample of 63 students selected through purposive sampling. A Likertscale questionnaire was used as the instrument to measure students' learning motivation. Data were analyzed using nonparametric statistical tests, including the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney U test, with the aid of SPSS version 20. The results indicate a significant improvement in the learning motivation of students in the experimental group after receiving classical guidance services based on the TGT model. Furthermore, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group achieving a higher average posttest score. Thus, classical guidance services using the cooperative learning model, specifically the team game tournament type, are proven to be effective in enhancing students' learning motivation.

Abstract

Curriculum transformation in Indonesian Islamic educational institutions (madrasahs) is essential in addressing globalization challenges and technology development. This research investigates the intersection of religious capital and teacher agency in these institutions, with the objective of understanding how Islamic values can shape curricular innovation without abandoning core Islamic educational principles. Systematic library-based research was employed to select the literature published in peer-reviewed publications from 2015 to the present using the following databases: Scopus, ERIC, IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, Google Scholar, JSTOR, ProQuest and ScienceDirect with the keywords listed to be included were, "curriculum reform," "Islamic schools," "religious capital," and "teacher agency." The results show how teachers draw on religious capital—expertise of religious text, the practice of religion, and community networks—to articulate curriculum changes in ways centering on Islamic values. The study highlights how religious capital can both enable teachers and constrain innovations. The findings offer practical implications: Policymakers must recognize religious capital's nuanced role in curriculum reform, ensuring that educational institutions meet pedagogical needs not at the expense of religious education's integrity. This interaction in the context of a wider Islamic educational setting should be unpacked in future research in order to extrapolate implications for sustainable and inclusive educational policies.

Abstract

The urgency of women’s fiqh learning lies in its role in enhancing female students’ Islamic literacy through well-structured implementation involving planning, execution, and evaluation. This study aims to analyze the implementation process of women’s fiqh learning in Islamic boarding schools, focusing on methods, techniques, and challenges faced by teachers. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation, with analysis based on Yin’s framework and triangulation for validity.Findings show that implementation follows three main stages: planning, execution, and evaluation. During the execution stage, teachers apply five steps: orientation/initial stimulation, problem identification, critical literacy, taking action, and evaluation. A teacher-centered approach is optimized alongside traditional pesantren methods such as sorogan, bandongan, and musyawaroh, integrated with interactive lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer techniques. This combination provides both theoretical understanding and practical engagement for female students. The research highlights the theoretical implication of a Literacy-Based Constructivism Learning Model (LIT-CON Model), which strengthens literacy depth and creates space for critical thinking among female students. The practical implication recommends pesantren develop constructivism-based curricula to ensure fiqh learning goes beyond turath (theoretical knowledge) and is understood deeply and contextually, aligning with contemporary challenges. Teachers face challenges in contextualizing women’s fiqh while maintaining traditional approaches, yet innovative integration of methods supports meaningful literacy improvement. Thus, women’s fiqh learning is not only essential for preserving Islamic tradition but also for equipping female students with critical, contextualized understanding relevant to modern times.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the role of Islamic educational psychology in developing adolescents’ emotional intelligence through a spiritual approach rooted in Islamic teachings. The study is based on the assumption that Islamic spiritual values have great potential to shape adolescents’ self-awareness, emotional regulation, and social skills holistically. The rationale for this research stems from the growing emotional challenges faced by adolescents in the modern era, such as academic stress, identity crises, and poor emotional regulation. The subjects of this study were students of Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Al-Ansor, using a qualitative research method and an educational psychology approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that Islamic education plays a significant role in guiding adolescents to develop emotional intelligence through the internalization of faith-based values, spiritual cultivation, teacher role modeling, and a supportive religious environment. The implications highlight the importance of integrating modern psychological theories with Islamic transcendental values in designing learning strategies and character development programs, enabling adolescents to navigate life’s dynamics with balanced emotional and spiritual strength.

Abstract

Environmental degradation and climate crises continue to escalate globally, while Islamic higher education has yet to effectively integrate religious environmental ethics into its pedagogy. This study addresses the lack of integration of Islamic environmental values into higher education curricula, particularly within Muhammadiyah institutions. The aim of this research is to examine whether a project-based learning (PjBL) model centered on fiqh al-bi’ah (Islamic environmental jurisprudence) effectively enhances the environmental character of university students. Employing a qualitative Classroom Action Research approach, 40 sixth-semester students participated in community-based environmental projects over one semester, and their progress was assessed through pre- and post-intervention evaluations across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Findings indicated significant improvements: cognitive understanding of fiqh al-bi’ah increased from 61.2% to 89%, affective attitudes toward environmental stewardship improved from 58.7% to 87.5%, and psychomotor skills rose from 43.5% to 74%. Furthermore, students demonstrated enhanced awareness, empathy, and commitment to Islamic environmental ethics. Overall, this study contributes to eco-Islamic pedagogy by demonstrating the efficacy of integrating religious principles into practical environmental education. It also suggests avenues for future research on long-term behavior changes and broader implementation in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

The main issue addressed in this study is the low quality of Islamic education in several Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools (SDIT), particularly regarding managerial effectiveness, spiritual leadership, and innovative learning, which are not yet fully aligned with Islamic values. Based on this gap, the research aims to analyze the principal’s strategic role in enhancing the quality of Islamic education through transformational leadership and value-based management approaches. The subjects of this study include principals, teachers, and educational staff from selected SDITs in the Riau Archipelago. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that principals apply collaborative strategies involving teachers and the community to strengthen the school’s religious culture, improve pedagogical competence, and nurture students’ Islamic character. The study concludes that effective leadership in Islamic education is not merely determined by administrative ability but also by spiritual exemplarity, value-oriented vision, and synergy between school management and the educational community. Therefore, the principal’s strategy plays a pivotal role in building an excellent, character-driven, and Islamic value–based school ecosystem.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile represents a concrete manifestation of the national education goals, serving as a fundamental reference in shaping educational policies—including the crucial area of religious literacy. In reality, Indonesia continues to face issues such as bullying, child sexual abuse, and other incidents that highlight the urgent need for character reinforcement. This study aims to (i) identify the influence of religious literacy on the reinforcement of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5), (ii) map the dimensions and aspects integrated within religious literacy, and (iii) explore the integration patterns of religious literacy in strengthening P5. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining both quantitative and qualitative procedures. The findings reveal three key points: First. At the same time, several indicators of religious literacy were statistically insignificant when analyzed individually; the variable significantly influences the reinforcement of P5. Second, the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile were further broken down into practical indicators for integration purposes. Third, the integration strategies were implemented through co-curricular, intra-curricular, and extracurricular activities using a multiliteracy approach. This study contributes to the reinforcement of the Pancasila Student Profile, aiming to cultivate students who are faithful, pious, and morally upright while also demonstrating global diversity, collaboration, independence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Abstract

Teachers in Nigeria increasingly face economic uncertainty, social instability, and occupational stress, conditions that contribute to heightened anxiety about the future. While research has highlighted the prevalence of mental health challenges among teachers, limited attention has been given to the developmental and psychological factors shaping such anxieties. This study examined the joint and relative influence of childhood experiences, psychological mindedness, and resilience on future anxiety among public junior secondary school teachers in Southwest Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was employed, involving a sample of 2,000 teachers drawn through multi-stage sampling across three states. Data were collected using validated instruments, including modified versions of the Future Anxiety Scale, Psychological Mindedness Scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and scales measuring adverse and benevolent childhood experiences. The data were analysed using multiple regression at a 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that childhood experiences, psychological mindedness, and resilience jointly accounted for the variance in future anxiety, indicating a substantial predictive influence. Childhood experiences emerged as the strongest predictor, followed by resilience and psychological mindedness. These results suggest that teachers’ anxiety about the future is shaped not only by current socio-economic pressures but also by the enduring impact of early life experiences and their capacity to engage in adaptive coping. The study concludes that interventions aimed at strengthening resilience and fostering psychological mindedness, alongside trauma-informed support, are crucial for enhancing teachers’ well-being and reducing anxiety.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the effectiveness of modified andragogic models in fostering Islamic character that is integrated with local wisdom values. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design, involving 60 students from two Islamic boarding schools as a sample. Data were collected through participatory observation, standardized character scales, and curriculum document analysis. The results showed a significant increase in the aspects of responsibility (p=0.003) and cooperation (p=0.012) compared to the control group, with the greatest effect seen in the internalization of the value of "tepa slira" (tolerance) as a key mediator. The unique findings reveal that the adaptation of the principles of self-directed learning in andragogics can be effective in children when combined with a narrative approach based on folklore. This study not only extends the application of andragogic theory to primary education, but also offers a new conceptual framework, "Andragogy for Children Islamic Character (ACIC)" that is relevant to the context of Islamic education in Indonesia. The practical implications include recommendations for character learning modules based on local wisdom.
