Abstract

The problem of low scores in Informatics subjects, student literacy, and critical thinking skills are the main background of this research. To answer these challenges, this study aims to develop website-based learning media using the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method in learning programming algorithms, and to measure the influence and correlation between students' learning interests and critical thinking skills. The subjects in this study were grade X students of the Software and Game Development Expertise Program (PPLG) at SMKN 1 Cisarua, with the object of research being students' critical thinking skills and learning interests. The research method used is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Learning media are designed to provide an interactive and enjoyable learning experience that supports the development of critical thinking skills and increases students' interest in learning programming algorithm material. The research instruments consisted of a learning interest questionnaire, a critical thinking test, and a validation sheet from material and media experts. The validation results showed that the developed media was feasible to use. Data analysis showed that there was a low positive correlation between students' learning interests and critical thinking skills, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.27. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between students' learning interest and critical thinking skills, although the relationship is included in the low category. The developed learning media has the potential as an effective tool in improving the quality of the programming algorithm learning process.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of a Humanistic Approach—emphasizing self-esteem, emotional engagement, and student-centered learning—to improve the speaking abilities of eleventh-grade students at a senior high school in expressing feelings of love during the 2024/2025 academic year. Utilizing Classroom Action Research (CAR), the intervention aimed to address challenges such as low self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and reliance on traditional teaching methods. The research was conducted in two cycles, each involving stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through observation sheets, oral tests, and video recordings. Findings indicate that the Humanistic Approach significantly enhanced students’ speaking fluency. While Cycle I showed only modest gains, Cycle II demonstrated substantial improvement, with 79.16% of students reaching the expected competency levels. These results underscore the effectiveness of a humanistic, student-centered methodology in creating a supportive environment that fosters oral language development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of practicum facilities and infrastructure on student learning interest in the Corrosion course in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program. The method used is a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling, with a total of 50 respondents from the class of 2022. The results of data analysis using the Pearson Product Moment  correlation test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001, which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. Thus, an alternative hypothesis is accepted. These results show that there is a significant influence between practicum facilities and infrastructure on student learning interest in the Corrosion course in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program. The results of this study show that the availability and quality of practicum infrastructure facilities contribute positively to increasing student learning interest, so the institution needs to pay attention to the management and development of practicum facilities so that the learning process is more optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of character education in families in stimulating the social development of early childhood in Tanjung Batu Seberang Village. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation of parents of children aged 3-6 years. The results of the study indicate that families have an important role in instilling character values such as religious, honesty, tolerance, communicative, and social care. However, the implementation of these values is still not optimal, especially in the values of honesty, tolerance, and social care. In addition, six main methods were found in character education, namely role models, habituation, storytelling, advice, attention, and rewards and punishments. The role model and habituation methods are quite dominant methods, but have not been fully carried out consistently by parents. Based on these findings, it is recommended that parents increase their involvement and consistency in children's character education, as well as support from the village government through parenting counseling and training programs.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of translation accuracy produced by DeepL in the film Inside Out 2 and compared it with the official subtitles. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the researcher selected 30 segments from the film's dialogues that contain various expressions, idioms, and contextual meanings. The accuracy of DeepL translations was assessed using the translation quality assessment model developed by Nababan, Nuraeni, and Sumardiono (2012), which classifies translations into three levels: accurate, moderately accurate, and inaccurate. The results showed that most of DeepL's translations felt into the "moderately accurate" category with total 67%, 17% as accurate and 17% also as inaccurate level. This was due to literal translation, misinterpretation of idiomatic expressions, and lack of contextual adaptation. In contrast, the official subtitles demonstrated higher accuracy by delivering contextually appropriate and culturally sensitive translations. These findings suggested that while DeepL offers grammatically fluent output, it still lacks the semantic and pragmatic sensitivity required for high-quality subtitle translation in films.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the management of partnership programs between Vocational High Schools and the Business World and Industry through a multi-site study approach at SMKN 1 Driyorejo and SMKN 1 Duduksampeyan. The focus of the study includes planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating partnership programs carried out by both schools in order to improve student competency. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design and data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that SMKN 1 Driyorejo is superior in implementing Teaching Factory which directly involves industry in learning, while SMKN 1 Duduksampeyan tends to implement partnerships in the form of Field Work Practices, industrial visits, and guest teachers. Both schools have established productive partnerships with the industrial world, but there are challenges such as the imbalance of partners between expertise competencies, limited practice facilities, and the need for a standardized evaluation system. Cross-site analysis revealed that partnership success is strongly influenced by strategic planning, collaborative organizing, real-world production-based implementation, and industry-involved evaluation. It is recommended that schools strengthen partnership management structures, businesses and industries expand their roles in vocational education, governments provide standard regulations and incentives, and higher education institutions develop replication models and further research. These findings are expected to be a strategic model in strengthening partnership-based vocational education in Indonesia.

Abstract

TOEFL is a widely recognized measure of English proficiency, yet many EFL students in Indonesia continue to face difficulties, especially in the reading section. Despite having been introduced to various reading strategies, there appears to be a disconnect between theoretical knowledge and practical application during test-taking. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of reading techniques in improving students’ TOEFL reading performance. Using a descriptive quantitative design, data were collected from 35 second-year law students at Riau University through TOEFL-style reading tests and questionnaires. Results showed that while students frequently used strategies such as rereading and identifying main ideas, more analytical techniques like summarizing and predicting were underutilized. The findings suggest that instruction should focus on reinforcing both basic and higher-order reading strategies to bridge the gap between knowledge and execution. Enhancing strategy use may significantly improve students’ TOEFL reading outcomes.
