Abstract

Writing is an essential language skill, yet many students struggle to write coherent procedure texts. Although previous studies explored TikTok in teaching writing, few examined its effectiveness for procedure texts. This study aimed to determine whether TikTok features are effective in teaching tenth-grade students at SMAN 11 Pontianak to write procedure texts during the 2024/2025 academic year. Using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design, 33 students were taught using TikTok’s video-sharing and direct-messaging features. The paired sample t-test result (t = 4.19 1.69389, p 0.05) and an effect size of 0.729 (moderate) showed significant difference in students’ writing performance. These findings confirm that TikTok features are effective for students’ ability to write procedure texts.

Abstract

This study explores how AI TTS relates to students’ confidence in English pronunciation among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners in Indonesia. Previous studies examined TTS perception and pronunciation quality, but none linked AI-TTS use with learners’ confidence, especially in Indonesia. This research used a quantitative correlational design and involved 38 students from an English language education program. Data were collected using a questionnaire measure of AI TTS use and pronunciation confidence. The results indicate that students have positive perceptions of AI TTS and its role in supporting pronunciation confidence. The two variables have a positive and statistically significant correlation, according to Pearson's Product-Moment correlation Test (r = 0.850, p 0.05). Put differently, students with increased interaction with AI TTS tend to feel greater comfortable pronouncing English words. These results also imply that AI TTS can assist the growth of self-confidence, promote autonomous learning, and lessen fear.

Abstract

This research aims to enhance the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students by applying digital flashcards in English learning at SMP Negeri 20 Palu. A quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group was employed. The population comprised 106 seventh-grade students, and the samples were selected using cluster random sampling, with class VII A assigned as the experimental group and class VII B as the control group. Data collection was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to examine students’ improvement in vocabulary mastery. The findings revealed that students in the experimental group obtained a higher average post-test score (72.00) compared to those in the control group (56.13). Statistical analysis conducted using SPSS version 25 showed a significance value of p = 0.000, which is lower than 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. These results confirm that digital flashcards are effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery. Furthermore, the pedagogical implications of this research indicate that integrating digital media into vocabulary instruction can foster students’ motivation, active participation, and independent learning, while also supporting the adoption of technology-based teaching practices in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model in reducing mathematics anxiety and improving fraction operation skills among fifth-grade elementary school students. Using an experimental research design with control and experimental groups, each consisting of 17 students, this study implemented the RME model in the experimental group while the control group received conventional learning. Hypothesis testing results using independent sample t-tests showed no significant differences in the pretest of both variables (p 0.05), but there were highly significant differences in the posttest of mathematics anxiety (p = 0.000) and fraction operation skills (p = 0.005). These findings prove that the RME learning model is effective in reducing mathematics anxiety and improving fraction operation skills among fifth-grade elementary school students, indicating that a realistic and contextual learning approach can be an effective alternative to improve the quality of mathematics instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid growth in AI has dramatically changed the way people learn the English language. The present study explores AI integration in the learning process from the perspectives of teachers and students. Qualitative library research was conducted by collecting data from peer-reviewed journals, books, and online scholarly sources on AI applications in education and language learning. Findings indicate that AI offers learners personalized, adaptive, and culturally appropriate learning experiences. Teachers perceive AI to enhance instructional effectiveness and curriculum management, including differentiated instruction; however, professional training, data privacy, and curriculum alignment are mentioned as challenges. Students indicated that AI increases motivation, engagement, and self-regulated learning through interactive exercises and immediate feedback, while usability and guidance are crucial for successful learning. The study concludes that effective AI integration must balance teacher readiness and student engagement along with user-friendly design and continuous evaluation. These insights can help develop effective AI driven English learning strategies.

Abstract

This study discusses inner speech in the album For the World, Love, and Kotornya, by Nadin Amizah with a psycholinguistic approach. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with reading and recording techniques for eleven songs in the album. Content analysis was used to find the types  of inner speech contained in song lyrics, such as egocentric speech, rhetorical inner question, and negative self-dialogue. The album has three phases: (1) self-hatred, (2) acceptance of love from others, and (3) self-love. These three phases describe the psychological dynamics that develop from rejection to self-acceptance, in line with the concept  of inner speech according to Vygotsky which serves as an introduction to self-reflection, a regulator of human emotions and behavior. These findings also reinforce the views of Alderson-Day Fernyhough (2015) and Oleś et al. (2020) on inner speech. Theoretically, this study emphasizes the relevance of the concept  of inner speech in shaping the meaning of linguistic expression in popular music works. Practically, this study extends the study of psycholinguistics into the realm of Indonesian music and shows that song lyrics can serve as a medium to understand a person's cognitive and emotional dynamics.

Abstract

Willingness to communicate (WTC) has emerged as a critical psychological construct mediating between linguistic competence and actual language use, yet its influence on speaking performance remains underexplored in Indonesian EFL contexts through learners' lived experiences. This qualitative study employs Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to investigate how English Education students at Universitas Tadulako experience and interpret the ways WTC shapes their English-speaking performance. Three undergraduate students (semesters 3-5) participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews, with findings triangulated through a lecturer interview. Systematic IPA analysis revealed four superordinate themes: (1) WTC as Dynamic Social-Cognitive State, fluctuating with context rather than functioning as a stable trait; (2) The Fluency-Accuracy Paradox, whereby students universally prioritize comprehensibility over grammatical correctness as a strategic coping mechanism; (3) Fear as Cultural-Pedagogical Construct, wherein judgment anxiety rooted in Indonesian educational culture inhibits WTC despite supportive teaching; and (4) The Preparation Imperative, in which advance notice and cognitive readiness universally facilitate WTC while spontaneous demands trigger defensiveness. Findings demonstrate that WTC operates as a multi-dimensional construct shaped by individual motivation, social ecology, cultural context, and pedagogical environment. Practical implications include creating psychologically safe environments, validating fluency-first strategies, and scaffolding spontaneity through preparation.

Abstract

The rapid development of the creative industry has increased competition in the photobox business in Indonesia. This situation requires photobox service providers to implement more innovative marketing strategies that are relevant to current trends. Photoplace Indonesia, as one of the modern photobox providers, strives to increase brand awareness through digital marketing strategies, particularly by utilizing collaborations with key opinion leaders (KOLs) who are effective in reaching young audiences on social media. This study aims to analyze the strategy of utilizing KOLs in building brand awareness for Photoplace Indonesia, identify supporting factors that are indicators of campaign success, and identify inhibiting factors that can affect the smooth implementation. The research method used a qualitative approach through direct observation, interviews with the marketing communications team, participation during internship activities, and literature studies related to marketing strategies, KOLs, and brand awareness. Based on the findings, the KOL utilization strategy was carried out through appropriate KOL selection, systematic brief preparation, coordination during the content production process, and evaluation of campaign performance based on indicators such as engagement and audience response. Supporting factors included strategic planning, maximum utilization of social media platforms, and good internal communication, while inhibiting factors included limited local KOLs, variations in content production capabilities, and technical constraints at outlets. Overall, collaboration with KOLs was proven to increase message reach, digital interaction, and brand awareness at Photoplace Indonesia.
