Abstract

The coconut tree is a plantation crop where almost all parts of it can be utilized by humans and processed into industrial products. The products derived from coconuts include cocofiber, cocopeat, and baby fiber, which are raw materials for other products with higher value and selling prices. The goal of this community service activity is to utilize the coconut husk waste in Grujuga Village into cocopeat products that have a high selling value, thereby improving the economy in Grujugan Village, Gapura District. Through interviews and direct observation, ideas for industry managers were generated, both in terms of improving the production process and developing creative ideas to enhance product value. Based on this, community empowerment activities in the village are crucial to encourage the development of the village to become self-sufficient, as well as increase community knowledge in diversifying coconut commodities through the utilization and processing of coconut husk waste into cocopeat and cocofiber, thus producing superior village products. This will strongly support the village's program as an effort to improve the welfare of the community, the development of the creative economy, environmental management, and the ability to innovate to improve the living standards of the community in accordance with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

The productivity of chili plants is closely related to fertilization. Scarcity and relatively expensive fertilizer prices are a problem for chili farmers in Merauke Regency. Therefore, amidst the intensive use of chemical fertilizers, availability and price constraints, organic bokashi fertilizer is a more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative. Bokashi is an organic fertilizer that is important in improving soil structure, providing complete nutrition slowly and sustainably, stimulating the activity of soil microorganisms, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. Another problem is that farmers still experience limited knowledge regarding the management of local resources (livestock and agricultural waste) which are abundant around the location. This training activity on processing organic bokashi fertilizer for chili farmers in Merauke Regency aims to increase farmers' knowledge and skills in cultivating chili plants organically. PkM was implemented in the Semangga Jaya Village Chili Farmers Group, Semangga District, Merauke Regency. This activity lasts for 1 month starting from preparation activities, implementation (socialization and training), as well as evaluation and program sustainability. PkM's core activity is making bokashi fertilizer based on Effective Microorganisms Technology (EMT). The methods used in implementing this service are survey methods, hearings, and demonstration plots. The results of the training showed that farmers gained the skills to make EMT-based bokashi organic fertilizer by utilizing organic waste. Farmers then adopt environmentally friendly agricultural technology in cultivation activities to increase soil fertility and productivity of chili plants.

Abstract

The high rate of early marriages in Yogyakarta is partly driven by unplanned pregnancies (Kehamilan Tidak Diinginkan/KTD). KTD is influenced by several factors, including a lack of adolescent knowledge about reproductive health and environmental influences that shape attitudes, mindsets, and behaviors regarding adolescent sexuality. This Community Service Programme (PKM) aligns with government initiatives aimed at reducing and preventing early marriages, starting within educational settings. The programme's goal is to establish the Youth Reproductive Health Information Centre (PIKR-R) at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta as a preventive measure against early marriages, while also enhancing students' knowledge of adolescent reproductive health. The focus of this PKM is the implementation of Health Technology Assessment through the establishment of the Youth Reproductive Health Information Centre, with the aim of preventing early marriages at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta. Students from various professional backgrounds, including Midwifery, Psychology, and Communication Science, will be involved in the programme. This initiative supports three out of the eight Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Higher Education Institutions, including enabling lecturers to engage in off-campus activities, providing students with off-campus experiences, and applying research outcomes for community benefit, particularly at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The productivity of stingless bees in Indonesia is hindered by farmers' limited knowledge of proper beekeeping techniques, such as colony splitting and hive optimization. This community service program aimed to improve productivity by training farmers on effective colony splitting and introducing optimal hive models. Activities included problem identification, material delivery, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and evaluation. The hive model used had dimensions of 15x15x20 cm for the lower section and 30x30x8 cm for the upper topping, supporting colony sustainability. Results showed 70% of farmers had 1-10 years of beekeeping experience, with 60% owning 1-20 colonies. Colony splitting was the main method for increasing colonies (40%), while 70% of farmers harvested honey 1-2 times per year. Training evaluations highlighted improved farmer understanding of colony splitting and hive use, offering practical solutions to enhance stingless bee productivity through better beekeeping practices

Abstract

Communities have an important role in campaigning for sustainable development programs or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  One of them, EcoDeen is a Muslim community that focuses on increasing environmental awareness.  Instagram is currently the primary media outlet for the EcoDeen Community campaign, and its content is updated every week.  However, EcoDeen's Instagram social media has a lower level of engagement from likes, comments, shares, saves, and reposts than similar communities.  Therefore, this community service aims to increase brand awareness of the Ecoden Community by providing training on how to develop EcoDeen Instagram content.  The hope is that with increased engagement, the EcoDeen Community campaign will be able to reach a larger audience.  The method used in this community service is the waterfall method, with stages of preparation, training, mentoring, and evaluation carried out sequentially and systematically.  Following training and mentoring, the Ecodeen Community discussed creating a new campaign strategy and improving the quality of its Instagram media content.  The next steps for sustainability of the Ecodeen Community mentoring program include coaching on infographic content creation, training on Instagram analytics tools, and preparing Ecodeen's branding strategy.
