ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate ideas and results of the dedication and research conducted by universities that can be applied in society. Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints are common among elderly mothers due to aging and excessive activity, increasing the risk of soft tissue injuries and reducing productivity. This community service aims to identify injury risks using Nordic Body Map and provide first aid education based on PEACE and LOVE protocol (Protect, Elevate, Avoid anti-inflammatories, Compress, Educate; Load, Optimism, Vascularisation, Exercise) to 20 elderly mothers at Polowijen Health Center, Blimbing District, Malang, on April 11, 2026. Methods include interactive lectures, discussions, practical simulations, and educational flyers for 45 minutes. Results show 20% shoulder complaints, 10% knee, and 70% none; participants were enthusiastic, actively asking questions, and improved understanding of proper injury management to prevent risky practices like direct massage. This activity is crucial for enhancing elderly independence, reducing family dependency, and healthcare costs through evidence-based physiotherapy education.

Abstract

Kriuk Rasa, an MSME located in Bendungan Village, Jonggol District, Bogor Regency, produces wonton chips, banana chips, and sale pisang (dried banana snacks). Preliminary observations revealed that business management faced challenges regarding product identity, packaging, promotion, and unstructured financial record-keeping. These conditions prompted a community service initiative aimed at strengthening business management through guidance on product aspects, packaging, promotion, and bookkeeping. The implementation method involved direct observation and interviews to identify the partner's conditions and needs, followed by planning, practical guidance, and evaluation. The assistance provided covered strengthening product identity, improving packaging, creating promotional materials and utilizing digital media, and implementing simple bookkeeping. The results demonstrated strengthened business management, evidenced by the establishment of a clear identity and promotional materials, improved packaging aesthetics, the use of digital media for promotion, and the implementation of simple financial record-keeping. This initiative is expected to enhance the partner's independence in managing the business and support the sustainability and competitiveness of the Kriuk Rasa MSME.

Abstract

The abstract should end with a comment about the importance of the result or a brief conclusion. Parakan Garokgek Village has various natural, cultural, and community-based tourism potentials that can be developed as community-based tourism attractions. However, these potentials are not yet fully supported by human resource capacity, particularly in terms of knowledge and practice of tour guiding. This community service program aimed to improve the community's basic knowledge and readiness in tour guiding and to support their involvement in the development of the village as a tourism destination. The program employed a participatory approach through several stages, including needs identification, socialization, training, and mentoring. The results showed that the participants gained an initial understanding of basic tour guiding. The community also began to recognize that daily activities, natural resources, and local cultural practices could be developed as tourism attractions with economic value. Although practical guiding skills could not yet be observed optimally due to limited direct interaction with actual tourists. Further programs involving gradual mentoring, guiding practice, and community capacity building are needed to transform the acquired knowledge into practical skills that can support the sustainable development of Parakan Garokgek Village.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that can impair the growth and development of children under five. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of Posyandu cadres and mothers of young children regarding stunting prevention through nutrition education. The activity was conducted from June 20–26, 2026, at Posyandu in Salubiro Village, Uekayabi Hamlet, and Saliano Hamlet, within the working area of Wongkondaya Public Health Center, North Morowali Regency. A total of 50 participants participated, consisting of 15 Posyandu cadres and 35 mothers of young children. The methods included health education, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation using pretests and posttests. The results showed an increase in participants with good knowledge from 12 (24%) to 38 (76%), while those with poor knowledge decreased from 18 (36%) to 2 (4%). Nutrition education was effective in improving participants’ knowledge and strengthening the role of Posyandu cadres and mothers in stunting prevention.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to address the low understanding of business licensing and legal risks among young coffee entrepreneurs in Barru Regency through digital literacy mentoring. The implementation method uses a participatory approach involving location surveys, facility preparation, OSS-RBA administrative counseling, and training on the utilization of Gemini AI for business legal risk analysis and mitigation. The results showed a 45% increase in participants' understanding regarding OSS-RBA procedures and a 65% increase in their ability to utilize Gemini AI for legal risk analysis. The implementation of this program successfully promoted formal legal compliance among MSME actors effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Pamait Village, South Dusun District, South Barito Regency, was carried out as a form of student involvement in supporting the community through several activities. Based on the initial observation, several aspects still needed attention, particularly education, health, MSMEs, and the environment. The methods used included observation, mentoring, training, community service, and direct involvement with the community. The activities included community gymnastics, anti-bullying and self-potential socialization, learning assistance, teaching Arts and Crafts, Religious Education and Physical Education, bead craft training, MSME surveys, Posyandu activities, elderly health visits, community clean-up activities, trash bin production, greening activities, and competitions to commemorate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The results showed that the community and students participated well in the activities. The activities also helped increase community involvement in maintaining environmental cleanliness, participating in health activities, and improving the knowledge and skills of students and residents.

Abstract

High gadget use among children and adolescents may cause eye health problems such as digital eye strain, dry eyes, and myopia. Junior high school students are at an age of active digital device use, making health education on this issue important. This community service activity aimed to improve students' knowledge about the impact and prevention of gadget-related eye health problems. The activity was conducted at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 48 Samarinda on 16 September 2026 in two stages: developing educational media (PPT and leaflet), followed by health education using lecture and discussion methods, preceded by a pretest and followed by a posttest among 62 respondents. The results showed a meaningful increase in knowledge, from 61.29% of respondents in the sufficient category before the education session to 82.26% in the good category afterward. The activity was concluded to be effective in improving students' knowledge and awareness of eye health, and continued support from the school and health workers is recommended.

Abstract

Limited access to clean water due to high salinity is a major challenge faced by communities in island areas, including the Nine Islands, Sinjai Regency, Indonesia. This condition affects domestic water needs, particularly among fisherwomen. This community service program aimed to improve community access and self-reliance in providing clean water through the application of solar energy-based solar distillation technology. The program employed a participatory approach involving socialization, technology demonstration, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation with a group of fisherwomen. The applied technology consisted of an integrated glass-based solar still utilizing evaporation and condensation processes. Program outcomes were evaluated based on six indicators: technology implementation, system productivity, technology effectiveness, community empowerment, social impact, and program sustainability. The results showed achievement rates of 90%, 85%, 90%, 86.67%, 75%, and 85%, respectively, with an overall average achievement of 86.67%. These findings indicate that solar distillation technology has strong potential as an appropriate and sustainable alternative for improving clean water access in island communities through continued community capacity building.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a social and educational issue related to character, discipline, social relationships, and the continuity of students' education. This community service activity aims to educate students on juvenile delinquency and encourage awareness of self-control, responsibility, and positive social relationships. The activity was carried out by students of Community Service Program (KKN) Group 44 of UIN Palangka Raya at SMPN 17 Palangka Raya on 6 August 2026, using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through identification, planning, action, and reflection, and involved 286 students from grades VII A–D, VIII A–D, and IX A through a PowerPoint presentation, discussion, and question-and-answer session. Results show the seminar served as a relevant space for education and interaction, with active discussion, although the activity did not use a pre-test or post-test and was not intended to measure quantitative knowledge change. Education on juvenile delinquency needs to be ongoing through cooperation among schools, families, and the community.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve elementary school students’ English language skills through gamification using Wordwall. The program was conducted at SD Negeri 11 Desa Doy, Banda Aceh, involving teachers and students as participants. The identified challenges included low student motivation, limited English vocabulary mastery, and insufficient use of digital learning media by teachers. The program consisted of preparation, teacher training, Wordwall-based learning implementation, mentoring, and evaluation through observations, questionnaires, interviews, pre-tests, and post-tests. The results showed that Wordwall significantly enhanced students’ motivation and engagement in English learning activities. In addition, teachers’ competence in developing and utilizing digital learning media improved considerably. The program also produced interactive Wordwall-based learning materials that can be used sustainably in future learning activities. These findings indicate that gamification through Wordwall is an effective approach to improving the quality of English language learning in elementary schools.
