Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social environment conditions of junior high school-aged children who dropped out in Dusun Lambara and to identify the social environmental factors influencing their decision to leave school. This research is a field study employing a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results indicate that the social environment of junior high school-aged children who dropped out tends to be negative, with minimal parental support, weak school supervision, and peer influence—particularly from friends who have also dropped out—being the main triggers. The children feel freer outside of school and engage in activities such as hanging out, playing games, or doing odd jobs. Other contributing social factors include family economic pressure, low parental education levels, lack of emotional support, as well as limited access to education due to the distant school location, poor road infrastructure, and lack of public transportation. A permissive social environment toward dropping out further strengthens these decisions. The key finding of this study is that children’s decisions to drop out are heavily influenced by the complex interactions among family factors, school conditions, peer groups, and the surrounding socioeconomic context. The implications of this research emphasize the need for active involvement from families, schools, village governments, and community leaders in creating a social environment that supports the continuity of education for junior high school children in Dusun Lambara.

Abstract

Child marriage remains a significant social problem affecting the health, education, and future of the younger generation, including in Paok Pampang Village. To address this, the village government issued Village Regulation Number 03 of 2021 on the Prevention of Child Marriage. This research aims to examine the implementation of the regulation and the factors influencing it. Using a qualitative approach with an empirical juridical method, data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. Findings show that the implementation has been gradual yet has contributed positively to reducing child marriage rates between 2019 and 2024. Key programs include community outreach, promoting marriage at a mature age, reproductive health education, and the establishment of Youth Integrated Health Posts (Posyandu Remaja) and the Child Protection Task Force. These initiatives reflect the integration of legal structure, substance, and culture, as described in Lawrence M. Friedman’s legal system theory. Supporting factors include strong coordination between village authorities and community leaders, relevant regulatory content, and growing public legal awareness. Meanwhile, challenges involve low economic conditions, peer influence, limited implementing personnel, and the impact of labor migration abroad. Overall, the regulation’s implementation is considered fairly effective, though it requires institutional strengthening and broader community participation to ensure sustainable outcomes.

Abstract

The underlying problem of this research is the decreasing attention of the younger generation toward local wisdom, which serves as an important marker of regional cultural identity. This condition requires concrete efforts from educational institutions to integrate local cultural values into the learning process. This study was conducted to examine the implementation of the P5 and PPRA projects as a strategy for preserving local wisdom at MAS Alkhairaat Biromaru. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the project implementation has been running well and has made a tangible contribution to the preservation of local wisdom. The main supporting factor is the strong commitment of teachers and the head of the madrasah in fostering students’ character, while the obstacles include limited time and tight academic schedules, which hinder cultural preservation activities from being conducted regularly and systematically. This research contributes by providing practical insights into the integration of Pancasila values and Islamic teachings through local wisdom-based activities, while also offering recommendations for madrasahs to develop more effective and sustainable learning strategies in preserving the nation’s cultural identity.

Abstract

This study seeks to elucidate the significance of informal economic education in preserving the sustainability of the Donggala Silk Weaving enterprise as a cultural heritage and a livelihood source for the community. The employed methodology is a qualitative technique utilizing a phenomenological study, conducted through in-depth interviews with silk weaving entrepreneurs who inherited their weaving talents from their family. The findings indicate that the process of skill inheritance occurs naturally, in an unstructured and voluntary manner, yet successfully conveys information between generations. Children engage in weaving activities from a young age through direct observation and practice, allowing the talent to evolve into a primary source of income. From a phenomenological standpoint, weaving is regarded not merely as an economic endeavor, but also as an integral aspect of cultural identity, a vehicle for familial socialization, and a symbol of pride for the Kaili community. This study reveals that the sustainability of traditional enterprises is significantly affected by the subjective significance attributed to abilities, rather than solely by market forces. These findings theoretically enhance the literature on informal economic education within the framework of local culture. The study underscores the necessity of amalgamating informal education with contemporary support mechanisms, including training, digitization, and empowerment programs. Additional research is advised to investigate intergenerational dynamics and technical interventions in facilitating the transformation of weaving enterprises in the context of globalization.

Abstract

Corruption is one of the most serious legal and social problems hampering development in Indonesia. Eradicating corruption cannot rely solely on law enforcement agencies but requires active public participation driven by legal awareness. This study aims to analyze the role of public legal awareness in eradicating corruption and identify forms of participation, challenges, and strategies for strengthening it. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach by reviewing relevant literature, regulations, official reports, and scientific articles on the topic. The research findings indicate that legal awareness is the foundation of public participation, manifested in the rejection of petty corruption, involvement in budget monitoring, reporting through whistleblowing mechanisms, and the internalization of anti-corruption values in the social environment. The main challenges are a permissive culture towards petty corruption, low legal literacy, weak protection for whistleblowers, and inconsistent law enforcement. To overcome these challenges, strategies are needed such as integrating anti-corruption education into the curriculum, conducting extensive regulatory socialization, increasing government transparency, ensuring whistleblower protection, and strengthening a culture of integrity through religious, community, and traditional leaders

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of macroeconomic factors, such a tax ratio, public spending and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on government debt policy in Indonesia. The data analysis method used is time series data for the period 1990-2022 with annual data using the Error Correction Model (ECM) approach. This research uses a quantitative analysis method with the Eviewes 9 as analysis tool. Based on the results of the overall test of independent variables, it was found that in the short term there are two variables that have a positive influence on debt policy, namely public spending and GDP. Meanwhile, the tax ratio variable has a negative influence on debt policy. This is caused by a low tax absorption ratio resulting in a budget deficit which will increase the debt ratio. However, based on test results using a long-term approach, it was found that all independent variables had a negative influence. So, to reduce the high debt ratio, the government must increase the growth of infrastructure and economic development by paying attention to sources of financing other than debt and paying attention to the direction of debt policy.

Abstract

This article examines historically and conceptually the view that separates zakat and taxes in Islamic legal discourse. Zakat is an obligation that has great potential for welfare and benefit, which are the objectives of sharia (Maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah). Using a qualitative-historical approach and discourse analysis, this study explores how the relationship between zakat and taxes is formed, maintained, and reproduced in various political and social contexts of the Muslim community. In the early days of Islam, zakat functioned as the primary fiscal instrument of the state based on revelation. However, during the Abbasid period, the emergence of complex fiscal needs prompted the institutionalization of additional taxes outside the zakat framework. The view that zakat ≠ tax became stronger during the colonial era, when modern taxation was imposed by secular powers and zakat was maintained as a symbol of religious identity. In the context of a modern state like Indonesia, this view remains dominant in regulations and social practices, despite the emergence of various integrative discourses. This study concludes that the separation between zakat and taxes is more of a historical and ideological construction than an absolute sharia norm. Therefore, a more contextual Islamic legal approach based on maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah is needed to formulate the ideal relationship between zakat and taxes in the fiscal system of contemporary Muslim countries.
