Abstract

This study investigates how English teachers perceive the role of visual literacy in students' reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 2 Batang. The background of this study stems from the challenges faced by students in understanding complex English texts and the limited use of visual media in teaching by teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine how teachers apply visual literacy in teaching, as well as to understand their views on the benefits and challenges faced. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that visual literacy, such as images, videos, and infographics, can significantly improve students' comprehension and motivation to learn. The teachers stated that the use of visual media helps students connect text with context, enriches learning experiences, and fosters reading interest. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as time constraints, facilities, and teachers' skills in selecting and integrating visual media effectively into teaching materials. Therefore, appropriate training for teachers and balanced learning strategy planning are needed so that visual literacy can be used not merely as an addition but as an integral part of the reading-learning process. With proper management, the integration of visual literacy can strengthen students' overall English literacy skills.

Abstract

This study examines the use of tag questions in fairy tale dialogues, specifically in the story Why Doesn’t the Rabbit Have a Long Tail?, motivated by the limited research on this linguistic phenomenon in contemporary children’s literature. The objectives are to identify the forms of tag questions, analyze their communicative functions in character interactions, and explore their impact on meaning conveyance, character development, and narrative dynamics. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach, data were collected from the fairy tale text and supported by relevant academic sources, then analyzed pragmatically and syntactically to gain a comprehensive understanding of tag question usage. Based on the analysis of the fairy tale, it was found that the explicit use of formal tag questions is very limited, appearing only around four to five times. However, reflective questions functioning similarly are more prevalent and play a crucial role in expressing the protagonist’s inner conflict, fostering emotional engagement with readers, and reinforcing the moral message of the story. Therefore, tag questions and reflective interrogatives serve as effective linguistic strategies that enrich dialogue, enliven characters, and make the narrative more interactive and meaningful. This provides important contributions to linguistic studies in literature and benefits writers and educators in children’s literature.

Abstract

The background that drives this research is the results of students' mathematical problem solving abilities which are still low and there are still many students who have not reached the KKM of 65 and the use of learning models that are less varied is the reason for researchers to carry out research in class V of Almusabbihin Elementary School The objectives in this study are This study aims to determine (1) the average class value of the mathematical problem solving ability of grade V students of Almusabbihin Elementary School reaches 65. (2) The mathematical problem solving ability of students who are given the RME learning model is better than before treatment. This type of research uses experimental research methods with Pre Experimental Design One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study population was all fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School. The sample taken was 34 fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School using purposive sampling technique. Data collection instruments used math problem solving ability test instruments and observation sheets. Data analysis used, quantitative analysis of the right one-party t test. The calculation results obtained, the average class value of the mathematical problem solving ability of fifth grade students of Almusabbihin Elementary School reached KKM 65 as evidenced by the average initial score of 34.12 to 76.32 and classical learning completeness of 0% to 88.24%, there was a higher increase in postest scores than pretest scores. Students' math problem solving ability is better than before with a tcount of 12.358> ttable of 1.997. So, the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model is effective on mathematical problem solving of fifth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Keberhasilan pendidikan dipengaruhi oleh peran guru dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Oleh karena itu guru diharapkan memilik etos kerja yang baik. Dengan menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai etika kerja, guru bekerja dengan tulus dan ikhlas, semata-mata untuk kepentingan khalayak umum, Bangsa, dan Agama. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh kepuasan kerja terhadap etos kerja guru SMK swasta Se Kecamatan Medan Tembung, penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif korelasional dengan metode survey, populasi sebanyak 132 orang dengan sampel 30% yaitu 40 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara kepuasan kerja dan etos kerja guru SMK swasta se Kecamatan Medan Tembung dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,637. Hal ini berarti bahwa semakin tinggi kepuasan kerja maka etos kerja guru juga cenderung tinggi. Dan nilai koefisien determinasi yang diperoleh dari r2 (0,637)2 adalah 0,406. Hal ini berarti pengaruh kepuasan kerja terhadap etos kerja guru adalah 0,406 x 100% = 40,6 %. Artinya kepuasan kerja memberikan sumbangan sebesar 40,6 % terhadap etos kerja guru.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning(PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa di kelas XI TKJ SMK Negeri 1 Waibakul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis eksperimen  yang menggunakan  one group pretest- post design. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI TKJ SMK Negeri 1 Waibakul, dengan sampel penelitian  yaitu kelas XI sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen digunakan yaitu pretest dan posttest kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa sebanyak 3 butir soal. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, taraf signifikasi, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil pengolahan data mennjukan nilai rata-rata posttest yaitu 81.81  lebih besar dari pada nilai rata-rata pretest  yaitu 57,03. Pengujian hipotesis  dengan uji z  menunjukan nilai sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, maka Ha diterima. Disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran  problem based learning(PBL) berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas XI TKJ SMK Negeri 1 Waibakul.

Abstract

This study investigates how senior university students use ChatGPT in academic writing processes and how they perceive its impact on the development of their academic writing skills. Adopting a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted via Zoom with a sample of 10 male and female senior university students from 5 Palestinian universities located in the Gaza Strip. The qualitative thematic analysis which was applied with the support of NVivo software identified four key themes, namely: patterns of ChatGPT use, perceived benefits, perceived drawbacks and ethical implications. The data revealed that students mainly use ChatGPT for generating and organizing ideas, checking grammar, structuring arguments, paraphrasing and drafting content. Many students view ChatGPT as a valuable AI tool that enhances efficiency, clarity and coherence. However, a substantial number of the participants reported concerns about reduced creativity and critical thinking, increased overreliance, and, most notably, the weakening of writing autonomy. Other participants also voiced issues related to ethical implications, particularly plagiarism and academic integrity. The results suggest that while ChatGPT could be beneficial when utilized responsibly, it could also represent challenges which may hinder the development of academic writing skills. It was recommended that in order to promote balanced and informed engagement with ChatGPT, the higher educational institutions should establish clear guidelines and integrate digital literacy and ethical AI use into their academic programs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh keterampilan teks cerpen dilihat dari sebelum dan sesudah diterapkanya metode resitasi kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Momunu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif mengikuti pendekatan positivisme dengan melibatkan pengunaan intrumen tes keterammpilan serta menghasilkan sebuah tulisan cerpen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa yang berada dikelas XI a. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan desain Pra-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian One-group Pretest-Posttets dan analisis data menggunakan uji t test dengan bantuan SPSS tipe 27 nilai signifikan 0,05. Hasil yang didapatkan sebelum diterapkanya metode resitasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks cerpen memperoleh nilai rata-rata 30,47 dan nilai yang diperoleh peserta didik setelah diterapkanya metode resitasi dengan nilai rata-rata 74,80. Sehingga didapatkan nilai t hitung 0,01 lebih kecil dari nilai t tabel 0,05, maka disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode resitasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks cerpen kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Momunu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengaanalisis buku ajar bahasa Indonesia yang sesuai dengan standar BSNP dari segi kelayakan isi/materi, kelayakan kebahasaan, kelayakan penyajian dan kelayakan kegrafikan pada buku bahasa Indonesia kelas III. Penelitian ini merupakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis studi pustaka dengan sumber data primer dari buku bahasa Indonesia kelas III terbitan Kemendikbud tahun 2022. Dalam penelitian ini metode dokumentasi digunakan sebagai metode pengumpulan data dan digabungkan dengan analisis deskriptif sebagai metode analisis. Sehingga, teknik analisis data digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah content analysis. Hasil dari penelitian ini, aspek kualitas isi materi menunjukkan kesesuaian yang baik dengan Capaian Pembelajaran (CP) yang akan dicapai. Kemutakhiran materi menunjukkan kemutakhiran yang kuat terutama dari segi konten dan pendekatan. Aspek kelayakan penyajian, konten disajikan yang interaktif dan relevan membuat siswa lebih terarah dan termotivasi untuk belajar. Aspek kualitas bahasa keakuratan struktur bahasa lugas dan mudah di pahami sesuai dengan audiens yang dituju yaitu siswa sekolah dasar. Pada aspek kelayakan grafis, buku ini sudah memenuhi standar dalam aspek ukuran buku, desain sampul dan desain isi.

Abstract

In the past decade, the global attention to inclusive education has driven structural transformations in learning systems, including in adaptive classrooms. However, even though physical and curricular access is expanding, the emotional voice of children with special needs (CWSN) is still often ignored in the empirical discourse of education. This qualitative research aims to explore and elevate the emotional narrative of CWSN in the context of an adaptive inclusive class. Using a phenomenological approach, data were collected through non-invasive observational techniques combined with journals of teacher reflection and children's creative expression (such as free images and stories) from 12 children aged 7–11 years in three inclusive primary schools. The results show that although adaptive classes have provided structural accommodation, the response to the emotional needs of CWSN is still inadequate. Some of the key themes that emerge in children's narratives include feelings of silence, fragile attachment, and the occasional happiness—suggesting that true inclusion cannot be achieved through physical adjustment alone, but rather requires deeper affective and relational engagement. This research makes an important contribution to the inclusive education literature by emphasizing the importance of emotional literacy, recognition of children's voices, and affectively responsive pedagogy as an integral part of inclusive classroom design. The implications of this study confirm the need for teacher training that places the emotional aspect at the center of a participatory culture and inclusive learning for all learners.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia faces challenges in producing human resources that are competitive in the era of globalization. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of off-the-job training in improving the competencies of teachers at SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological case study, involving semi-structured interviews with three teachers who have participated in the training. Data were collected to understand participants' experiences, the contribution of the training to professional development, and the application of acquired skills. The results indicate that diverse training methods, such as games and simulations, are highly effective in enhancing pedagogical skills and understanding of the material. Participants reported increased student interest and engagement, as well as positive responses to the teaching methods applied. This research emphasizes the importance of continuous training to support teachers' professional development, which in turn will improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
