Abstract

Bilebante Tourism Village is one of the destinations currently preparing to participate in the Best Tourism Village UNWTO 2026. In this process, the need for systematic and credible documentation has become increasingly important. This community service activity was carried out to address this need, with the primary goal of enhancing the scientific literacy of Pokdarwis DWH Bilebante members through technology-based writing training aimed at producing high-quality tourism knowledge archives. The training was attended by six participants who play a key role in preparing documents for the competition and was conducted in person. The activity methods included a self assessment pre-test, interactive material delivery, discussion sessions, article writing practice, and a self assessment post-test. The materials covered an introduction to scientific articles, paragraph structure, article writing techniques, and the use of ChatGPT for drafting and editing texts. The results of the pre-test, post-test, and article writing practice showed an increase in participants' understanding of scientific writing. The post-test score for the question regarding the ability to write AI-assisted articles increased by 66.6 percent compared to the pre-test. In addition, participants were able to produce complete articles on the theme "Sustainable Tourism Strategies in Bilebante Village," covering social, environmental, and economic dimensions. The quality of the writing demonstrated a good understanding of article structure and effective use of technology to support the writing process. Thus, this activity proved effective in building basic competencies in technology-based scientific writing. In addition to improving understanding, the training also encouraged active community involvement in documentation practices that are relevant and oriented toward the development of a sustainable tourism village.

Abstract

The social, political, and religious dynamics in contemporary Indonesia are often marked by increasing identity polarization and a decline in respect for differences among citizens, thus emphasizing the urgency of raising awareness of tolerance and diversity as the main foundation for building an inclusive society. When linked to inclusive community development, tolerance and diversity become essential prerequisites for creating a social space that accommodates the active participation of all citizens. A seminar, as a participatory dialogue method, offers a safe and egalitarian space for various stakeholders to exchange views, discuss, and find common ground on sensitive issues related to religion and politics. The seminar has successfully served as a catalyst for change, shifting participants' thinking and behavior towards a more positive direction. Certainly, there needs to be follow-up in the form of concrete, implementable programs, such as further seminars, community formation, or collaborative initiatives driven by participants to translate that awareness into real action. The expected structural changes are the strengthening of tolerance and diversity awareness internalized in the norms and daily life practices of society, reflecting the sustainable actualization of good values.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology requires teachers to possess strong digital literacy skills to create learning experiences that are creative, efficient, and aligned with the needs of 21st-century students. However, many teachers in regional areas still face challenges in utilizing technology due to limited infrastructure and a lack of technical knowledge. This program was conducted to help teachers improve their skills in developing engaging and time-efficient digital learning media through training on the efficient use of Canva, aiming to strengthen teachers’ digital literacy and support the transformation of classroom learning. The training was implemented in four stages: needs analysis, face-to-face training, post-training mentoring, and evaluation. The needs analysis was carried out through an online survey to assess teachers’ initial digital skills. The face-to-face training was conducted for one full day at the SMPN 1 Maros auditorium and involved 15 teachers (11 mathematics teachers and 4 from other subjects). Using a hands-on approach, the training focused on introducing Canva’s features, strategies for utilizing templates, visual design principles, and integrating the media into online learning platforms. Post-training mentoring was conducted over two weeks via an online group and consultation sessions with facilitators. The results showed that all participants successfully created at least one digital learning product that was more visually appealing and efficient, and these products received positive responses from students. This program demonstrates that short, hands-on training combined with online mentoring is effective in enhancing teachers’ digital literacy and fostering their active participation in developing creative digital learning materials.

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders experienced by workers engaged in physically demanding activities, such as those in automotive repair and tire retreading workshops. This condition is primarily caused by non-ergonomic postures, excessive lifting, and a lack of awareness of proper back stretching techniques. This community service program aimed to enhance workers’ knowledge and awareness of LBP prevention through physiotherapy education and simple exercise training. The activity was conducted at Sinar Ihsan Workshop and Tire Retreading in Kutai Barat Regency over three days in March 2025, involving 22 participants. The methods included educational counseling using leaflets, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations of the William Flexion Exercise. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure changes in participants’ understanding. Results showed a significant improvement in knowledge across all components from an average of 18.75% before the session to 100% after the training. Participants demonstrated enhanced understanding of the definition, causes, ergonomic work posture, and preventive exercise techniques for LBP. The program effectively increased workers’ awareness of the importance of maintaining correct posture and performing regular stretching exercises to prevent musculoskeletal injuries. This initiative highlights the role of physiotherapy-based education as an effective preventive approach for occupational health promotion. It is recommended that similar ergonomics and preventive physiotherapy training be continuously implemented among informal workers to minimize injury risks associated with repetitive physical activities.

Abstract

This community engagement program was conducted in Sukamaju Village, Tellu Limpoe Subdistrict, Sinjai Regency, with the primary goal of developing a local innovation ecosystem through the integration of dragon fruit cultivation technology, organic waste management, and youth institutional strengthening. The activity stemmed from several issues faced by the community, including suboptimal farm productivity, unutilized dragon fruit waste, and limited managerial capacity of the village youth organization (Karang Taruna) in business administration and product marketing. The training was designed to shift the community’s mindset from conventional farming toward sustainable agricultural practices with economic value. The implementation method consisted of three phases: preparation, execution, and mentoring. The program lasted for two months and applied a participatory approach involving 45 participants from the “Merpati” Farmers Group and Karang Taruna of Sukamaju Village. The training covered four main sessions: (1) dragon fruit cultivation technology using drip irrigation, LED grow lights, and biofertilizers; (2) waste processing into compost, silage, and natural extracts; (3) product design and brand development under the label “Sukamaju Organika”; and (4) organizational strengthening and digital business recordkeeping. Each session included field practice, coaching clinics, and pre–post evaluations to measure learning improvement and skill acquisition. The results revealed a 78% average increase in participants’ knowledge scores, with the highest improvement observed in the product design and branding session. Tangible outcomes included the establishment of a youth business unit under Karang Taruna utilizing digital bookkeeping systems and the ability to convert agricultural waste into value-added products. Beyond improving cultivation efficiency and waste management, the program fostered a spirit of social entrepreneurship among rural youth. This activity presents a significant advancement in community engagement models, where young villagers act as innovation agents in advancing sustainable smart agroedutourism.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in supporting local economic development, yet many micro-entrepreneurs still struggle to establish a strong business identity and manage their finances in a structured manner. This community service program aims to enhance the managerial capacity of the MSME “Warung Makan Mbak Sari” through strengthened branding, improved digital visibility, and the implementation of simple bookkeeping practices. The program was conducted using a participatory approach consisting of a pre-survey, program design, hands-on mentoring, and evaluation. The results show that the MSME successfully developed a new visual identity including a logo, banner, and standardized menu which improved recognition and customer appeal. The business was also registered on Google Maps, making it easier for customers to locate the stall and expanding its marketing reach. In financial management, training on simple bookkeeping enabled the owner to record daily income and expenses more accurately and understand basic cashflow conditions. This intervention increased the owner’s confidence and professional capability in managing the business. Overall, the program positively contributed to enhancing the MSME’s operational readiness and competitiveness. The results suggest that practical and targeted assistance can serve as an effective model for other micro-enterprises facing similar challenges. Continued application of improved branding and bookkeeping practices is expected to support sustainable business growth in the digital era.
