Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven the need for learning innovation, including for elementary school teachers who are required to create an interactive learning environment. Training on the use of the digital media Quizizz at SDN Inpres Perumnas aims to improve teachers' skills in integrating technology into the teaching and learning process. Teachers are expected to master the practical use of the application while understanding learning strategies to encourage student motivation and engagement. The activity was carried out in five stages: preparation in the form of coordination and preparation of materials, counseling on the importance of interactive digital media, hands-on training from account creation to question preparation, mentoring in classroom implementation, and demonstrations of learning with students. Evaluation was carried out through pretests, posttests, and practical observations. The results showed that teachers were able to follow all stages well. The average pretest score was only 45%, indicating teachers' limited understanding of Quizizz. After the training, the average posttest score increased to 85%. The highest increase occurred in understanding the superior features (from 30% to 90%) and the advantages of Quizizz compared to conventional quizzes (from 35% to 88%). Basic understanding of the purpose of use also increased from 40% to 90%. The primary benefit of this activity was increased teacher readiness to design interactive learning and broadened knowledge about the use of digital media for evaluation. The conclusion of this activity confirmed that the Quizizz training not only strengthened teacher competency but also opened up opportunities for school community involvement in supporting technology-based learning transformation

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental subject for junior high school students, yet numeracy achievement in Indonesia, including in Simbur Naik Village, remains low. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ conceptual understanding and learning motivation through the implementation of the MathVerse application, which integrates Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence. The program involved 53 students and 6 mathematics teachers, carried out in three sessions consisting of socialization, training, and classroom implementation. The results indicated a significant improvement in cognitive achievement. The average test score increased from 49.15 to 70.67, while mastery rose from 33% to 70%. In terms of motivation, there was an increase in the indicators of effort and perceived relevance of mathematics, although interest and self-efficacy slightly declined. Student responses were highly positive, with the highest scores on the indicators of understanding and learning (82.94%) and application navigation (93.52%). Teachers also expressed consistently positive responses, with the highest rating on interest and adoption (90.63%). Documentation highlighted students’ enthusiasm in using AR and AI features, as well as teachers’ active role in facilitating the process. This activity demonstrates that MathVerse not only significantly enhances students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics but also fosters learning interest and strengthens teachers’ roles in integrating educational technology. The novelty of this program lies in the direct application of AR- and AI-based learning tools in rural schools, which are rarely reached by digital innovations. Therefore, this activity provides tangible benefits for the local education community and contributes theoretically to the effectiveness of multimedia learning and technology acceptance in mathematics education.

Abstract

Nutritional issues in toddlers remain a serious challenge in Indonesia, particularly in Aceh Province and West Aceh Regency, where the prevalence is higher compared to the national figures. Malnutrition during the first 1000 days of life can lead to long-term effects such as stunted growth, decreased learning abilities, and increased risks of morbidity and mortality. Nutritional education efforts through counseling and outreach are necessary to improve mothers' knowledge and nutritional behavior. Outreach was conducted for 57 mothers using PowerPoint media, while counseling was provided for 4 undernourished toddlers through home visits. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed that outreach improved understanding of balanced nutrition, risk factors, and prevention of malnutrition. Counseling significantly improved mothers' knowledge scores, from an average of 37.5 to 87.5. It can be concluded that nutrition education effectively encourages changes in knowledge and behavior, thus it needs to be implemented continuously.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases found in the community and is widely known as a silent killer because it often presents without symptoms until serious complications occur. The high prevalence of hypertension across various regions highlights the need for structured health promotion and prevention efforts through educational interventions. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of residents in Siyono Kidul Hamlet about hypertension through a health education session delivered using presentation media. A quantitative approach with a pre–post test design was employed, involving 30 participants as respondents. The activity began with a pre-test to assess baseline knowledge, followed by a health education session covering the definition, signs and symptoms, risk factors, complications, and preventive measures related to hypertension. After the session, participants completed a post-test to measure knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, with all respondents achieving a “good” category after the intervention. These findings indicate that health education incorporating lectures and visual media is effective in enhancing community health literacy. This program has important implications for hypertension prevention efforts and can serve as a model for similar community-based health interventions in other areas with comparable needs.

Abstract

The problem of inorganic waste that is difficult to decompose poses a serious threat to environmental sustainability, both in rural and urban areas. Low public awareness of the long-term impacts of waste drives the need for simple, easy-to-understand educational strategies that directly involve residents. This community service activity aims to increase the understanding of residents of Silea Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency, through visual information media that explains the length of time it takes for various types of waste to decompose. The implementation method begins with field observations to determine strategic installation points, followed by the design of information signs, the production process, and the installation stage with residents. The activity took place on August 8–10, 2025, involving 15 KKN students, village officials, and community groups. The number of participants involved in the socialization session was 45 people, consisting of housewives, youth from the youth organization, and representatives of the dasawisma (village). The results of the activity showed an increase in public understanding in differentiating between organic and inorganic waste, as well as awareness of the long-term impacts of accumulating plastic, cans, and glass waste. Active community participation in the sign installation process also fostered a sense of ownership, making the educational message more easily accepted. For housewives, the primary benefit was an understanding of daily household waste management, while for youth, this activity opened up insights into the importance of the younger generation's role in protecting the environment. In conclusion, the use of visual media in the form of information signs has proven to be an effective new approach to environmental literacy. This activity not only raises awareness but also strengthens community involvement, thus enabling more sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a serious issue that can hinder children’s psychological and social development. This community service activity aimed to provide early understanding of the negative impacts of bullying while instilling the values of Pancasila as the foundation of character building. Thus, students are expected to be able to reject all forms of bullying behavior and internalize the values of humanity, unity, and justice in their daily lives. The implementation method was carried out through a participatory educational approach, including interactive lectures on the forms and impacts of bullying, group discussions that allowed students to share views and experiences, role-playing to practice the courage to reject bullying, and the use of educational media in the form of posters and visual presentations. Evaluation was conducted through observation of student attitudes and simple questionnaires to measure their level of understanding. The activity was attended by 45 students from grades IV to VI, divided into discussion groups. The results showed a significant increase in students’ understanding. As many as 80% of students were able to mention at least three forms of bullying, 70% demonstrated the courage to reject bullying behavior through role play, and most students understood the application of humanity, unity, and justice values in daily practice. In addition, teachers felt supported by the socialization material and planned to integrate it into classroom learning. This activity concludes that strengthening Pancasila values through anti-bullying socialization can increase awareness and shape students’ attitudes to create a safer and more inclusive school environment. This model of activity presents a new approach to character education by actively involving students and emphasizing the engagement of the school community.

Abstract

The safety of small-scale fishermen in Paciran District, Lamongan Regency, still faces serious challenges due to limited communication facilities and the absence of an early warning system. Small boats (<50 GT) used by fishermen at sea are highly vulnerable to high waves. In case of an emergency at sea, fishing boats are not equipped with technology that allows fishermen to request assistance from officers. This community service program aims to provide a solution through GPS Forelite, a LoRa and artificial intelligence (AI)-based vessel monitoring device equipped with a leak sensor, GPS, a two-way communication system, and an emergency button to improve the safety and efficiency of fishermen. The community service method was carried out through socialization, knowledge transfer, and training on the use of GPS Forelite. The socialization activity involved 32 fishermen and administrators of the Kandang Semangkon Fishermen's Association (Rukun Nelayan Kandang Semangkon) directly in a demonstration of the use of GPS Forelite to simulate leaks and use the emergency button. The results showed that 91% of the participants in the socialization and training gained a basic understanding of the importance of sailing safety aspects through the use of technology. The training participants successfully mastered the use of GPS Forelite, and the fishermen's groups as partners benefited from an increased sense of security and preparedness to face emergencies at sea. Another visible impact is the formation of collective awareness regarding occupational safety culture and the strengthening of the Nelayan Association (Rukun Nelayan) as a coordination center for technology implementation. Through this community service activity, a new approach has emerged that integrates technology transfer with active community participation, thus not only improving the safety of small-scale fishers but also building the capacity of fishing groups to become independent in adopting technological innovations.

Abstract

Coban Glotak tourism area, located in Malang Regency, East Java, represents a natural attraction with substantial ecological and aesthetic value. Nevertheless, it continues to encounter significant challenges in terms of management. Inadequate accessibility, the lack of proper directional signage, and an ineffective waste management system constitute the principal obstacles to its development as a sustainable tourism destination. This initiative was undertaken as a contribution towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and SDG 15 (life on land). The approach adopted included environmental observation to identify prevailing issues, interviews with local site managers, and the implementation of field-based actions. The interventions comprised litter removal along the tourist pathways, installation of directional and safety signage, placement of safety ropes on steep or hazardous trails, and trimming of overgrown vegetation that impeded access. The outcomes indicated marked improvements in cleanliness, visitor comfort, and overall safety, in addition to fostering a collective sense of environmental awareness. These findings demonstrate that modest yet well-structured interventions, grounded in local community involvement, can yield positive impacts on the sustainable management of tourism sites. Furthermore, such practices may serve as replicable models for the development and conservation of other natural tourism destinations.
