A series of stages of empowerment activities have been completed and someforms of value changes that occurred after the empowerment was carried out, namely achange in orientation towards abandoned ponds that were originally considered useless can finally be used and utilized as a source of economic improvement through catfish farming. In addition, there is also achange in the assumption that working individually is more effective instead of working together in a team or group.

Abstract

Women and culture are two social elements that are very close and closely related. The closeness and attachment of women and culture can be seen through social facts that generally exist in the Batak region and specifically in Samosir in weaving ulos The presence of Batak women as preservers of Batak culture through ulos weaving crafts in the Samosir region in reality is not as beautiful as the ulos motifs they weave. Most female ulos weavers, especially those fostered by the Jabu Bonang Foundation, are trapped in the reality of economic poverty which also has a negative impact on their social lives, namely they are vulnerable to domestic violence (KDRT) and double burdens. Domestic violence (KDRT) and double burdens are forms of violence experienced by women in the domestic sphere. This community empowerment was created with the aim of empowering female weavers at the Jabu Bonang Foundation with the weaving skills they have. In addition, empowerment is also expected to strengthen the community and improve the economy of the weaving community groups at the Jabu Bonang Foundation. This empowerment is carried out using the Focus Group Discussion (FDGs) method which then disseminates government policies and regulations to eradicate poverty and provide local community-based domestic violence prevention facilities. The success of the community empowerment carried out can be seen from the emergence of the weavers' courage in revealing the violent practices they experienced. This also fosters knowledge and awareness to prevent the emergence of domestic violence. Not only that, the empowerment carried out also shows the emergence of the willingness of female weavers to commit to building a savings and loan cooperative and creating weaver savings which can later strengthen social solidarity among community-based ulos weavers.

Abstract

This tree-planting activity was conducted in response to increasing environmental degradation and the decline of green open spaces caused by rapid development and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. The activity took place on 27 September 2025 at the Education and Training Center Area of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Bollangi, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, with the aim of transforming underutilized land into a productive green area with both ecological and economic value. The implementation consisted of two stages: preparation and planting of 200 fruit tree seedlings, including durian, soursop, jackfruit, and crystal guava. The results show that all seedlings were successfully planted in locations appropriate for soil conditions and sunlight exposure, supported by active participation from the participants throughout all stages. The activity not only contributed to increasing green coverage but also enhanced participants’ understanding and environmental awareness through brief training and education. Ecologically, the fruit trees planted have the potential to support carbon absorption, improve air quality, strengthen soil stability, and promote biodiversity. Economically, these trees hold promising value as future sources of marketable fruits and local food diversification. Therefore, this tree-planting initiative can be considered a long-term environmental and economic investment aligned with the principles of sustainable development.

Abstract

The use of perfume has now become a lifestyle. Besides providing fragrance and freshness to the wearer, it can also boost self-confidence by eliminating body odor. Perfume is used by people of all ages, from babies and children to teenagers and adults. The perfume market in Indonesia experiences annual growth. Perfume, or fragrance oil, is a mixture of essential oils and aroma compounds, fixatives, and solvents used to impart a pleasant scent to the human body, objects, or rooms. The amount and type of solvent mixed with the fragrance oil determine whether a perfume is considered a perfume extract, Eau de parfum, Eau de toilette, or Eau de Cologne (wikipedia). Local perfumes only became popular in Indonesia between 2017 and 2018. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that there were 129,137 medium and large trading businesses in Indonesia in 2020. Of that number, the majority, or approximately 39% of business owners, were high school graduates. The method used included theoretical explanations, perfume-making demonstrations, and a practical session, where each participant created a 10 ml bottle of perfume. The training was attended by the Foundation's management, the principal, and students. A total of 76 students participated in the training. Participants were divided into several groups. All students successfully created perfume. Participants gained knowledge and skills in perfume-making as an alternative to perfume entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Food security challenges in Sidera Village include limited access to natural resources, low levels of education, and minimal public awareness of home-yard farming practices. This community service activity aims to implement a household empowerment-based intervention model through the use of yards as a source of healthy and sustainable food. The main target is housewives in Sidera Village, Kecamatan Sigi Kota, Kabupaten Sigi, as the primary managers of family food consumption. The implementation method is as follows: first, preparation and socialization; second, training and implementation of home-yard utilization; third, education on nutrition and consumption patterns; and finally, mentoring. The results of the activity showed that in the first phase, the community had not yet utilized their yards productively. The second phase succeeded in encouraging participants to plant at least two types of food crops in their yards. The third phase increased participants understanding of vegetable processing and consumption cost efficiency. In the final phase, challenges were encountered in the form of pest attacks, unpredictable weather, and limited water supplies. This activity demonstrated that household empowerment-based interventions can increase food availability, reduce expenses, and strengthen community participation in the sustainable management of local food sources.

Abstract

The development of information technology is a key driver of digital transformation in public services, including village governance. In the context of Smart Village development, digitalization of public services is a crucial strategy for increasing efficiency, transparency, and public participation. However, many village officials still face limitations in managing digital media, particularly websites, as the primary means of public information and services. This mentoring activity aims to increase the capacity of Baurung village officials in managing their websites effectively and sustainably. The mentoring is carried out through technical training and direct guidance covering content management, publication information, and the operation of online service features. The focus of the activity covers four main aspects: improving the quality of public services through easy access to online administration, transparency and accountability through open public information, community empowerment through increased digital literacy, and developing local potential through the promotion of micro, small, and medium enterprises' digital products and community activities. The results of the activity indicate an increase in the ability of village officials to manage websites and an increase in the effectiveness of digital-based public services. This activity is a strategic step in accelerating the implementation of Smart Villages in Baurung village by strengthening governance and capacity in the field of information technology
