Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of Indonesian among Generation Z and its relevance to the function of the national language in the digital age. As a generation of digital natives, Generation Z presents both challenges and opportunities in efforts to preserve Indonesian. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation of linguistic activities on social media, and analysis of digital documents. The data were analysed thematically through a process of reduction, categorisation, and meaning extraction to identify distinctive patterns of language use. The results show that Generation Z's language practices are characterised by linguistic creativity, code-mixing between Indonesian and foreign languages, and the emergence of new forms of digital expression. A gap was also found between normative language policies and the more dynamic and flexible language practices of Generation Z. The implications of this research emphasise the importance of developing adaptive, participatory, and digitally-based language policy and development models so that Indonesian remains relevant and competitive amid global disruption

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flannel board syllable cards on the early reading skills of first-grade students at SDN Paninggaran, Kuningan Regency. Reading skills are basic abilities that involve thinking processes, symbol recognition, and meaning comprehension, which play an important role in the development of children's literacy skills from an early age. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The independent variable in this study was flannel board syllable cards, while the dependent variable was early reading skills. The research subjects consisted of 21 first-grade students at SDN Paninggaran, who were selected using total sampling. Data were collected through reading tests before and after the treatment. Data analysis was performed using a t-test to determine the difference between the pretest and posttest results. The results showed that there was a significant effect of using flannel board syllable cards on improving students' early reading skills, with a t-value of 9.61 greater than the t-table value of 2.06. These findings indicate that the use of flannel board syllable cards is effective in helping students recognise syllables, improve reading fluency, and foster an interest in learning to read from an early stage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties in Bahasa Indonesia experienced by high school students as well as the contributing factors. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that students face difficulties in four language skills reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In reading, students struggle to understand the main ideas and the content of texts In writing, numerous spelling errors and poorly structured paragraphs were found; In speaking, students show a lack of confidence and limited vocabulary while in listening, students are often unfocused, making it difficult to grasp important information. These difficulties are influenced by internal factors such as low reading interest, lack of learning motivation, and limited vocabulary, as well as external factors such ad monotonous teaching methods and an unsupportive learning environment. Therefore, more varied learning strategies and the strengthening of literacy culture in schools are needed to improve students language proficiency

Abstract

The general objective of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the contribution of professional help-seeking behavior to mental health status based on the level of mental health literacy in the community's work area, Community Health Center X, Sungai Penuh City. This study was quantitative. The research approach used was correlational. Correlational analysis is a quantitative data analysis technique used to analyze two or more variables and examine the relationship between them. Based on the results of the study, it was found that professional help-seeking behavior did not significantly influence the mental health status of the community in the Community Health Center X, Sungai Penuh City, whether among high, medium, or low mental health literacy groups. This means that professional help-seeking behavior did not predict an individual's mental health status. Mental health literacy also did not strengthen either variable. Therefore, it can be concluded that neither professional help-seeking behavior nor mental health literacy are dominant factors in predicting mental health status, so other, more complex variables are needed to predict mental health status

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation of students caused by the limited variety of learning media used in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to develop and produce learning media in the form of animation videos based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) in IPAS subjects that are valid, practical, and effective for fourth-grade elementary school students. The study used the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Validation was carried out by experts in media, material, and language with results of 87.67%, 92.72%, and 96.66%, respectively, all of which were classified as highly valid. The practicality test at SDN 006 Mukti Jaya obtained a response rate of 97.14% from teachers and 91.16% from students. at SDN 011 Lenggadai Hulu, the response rate was 98.57% for teachers and 88.63% for students; while at SDN 014 Pematang Sikat, the response rate was 97.14% for teachers and 93.20% for students, all of which were classified as highly practical. The effectiveness test results based on N-Gain calculations showed an increase in learning outcomes of 83.25%, 74.46%, and 76.4% respectively, which were classified as effective. Thus, this PBL-based animated video media is declared valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for use as an innovative alternative in teaching IPAS material on the system of needs in Grade IV elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the early reading abilities of second-grade students at SD Negeri 59 Sungai Raya, which includes the stages of recognising letters, reading words, reading meaningless words, reading fluency and reading comprehension, and listening skills. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with data obtained through the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) test and interviews. The results show that the students' early reading skills still vary. Some students are able to recognise letters well, but others still have difficulty distinguishing between letters with similar sounds, such as ‘F’ and “V”, and have difficulty pronouncing diphthongs such as ‘NY’. In terms of reading aloud, some students still read by spelling and are not yet fluent, which affects their comprehension of the reading material. Listening skills also varied, with some students unable to answer questions related to the story because they did not understand or were not focused while listening. In addition, one student showed signs of instability that affected their attention and overall learning ability. In general, the results of the study emphasised the need for continuous reading practice, structured phonics learning, and an individualised mentoring approach so that students' early reading skills could improve optimally.
