Abstract

AbstractIt was descriptive research which aimed to find out the academic procrastination behavior of the students class VIII in Junior High School 13 Pontianak in academic year 2017/2018. The research problems were (1) What are the characteristics of academic procrastination? (2) What are the factors causing academic procrastination? (3) What are the effects of academic procrastination? (4) What are the efforts of counseling teacher to overcome the academic procrastination? This research aimed to describe and find out about (1) The characteristics of academic procrastination (2) The factors causing academic procrastination (3) The effects of academic procrastination (4) The efforts of counseling teacher to overcome the academic procrastination. The method used in this research was descriptive and survey research form. The population was the students of Junior High School 13 Pontianak class VIII in academic year 2017/2018 which was 36 students. This research used quantitative approach. The technique of data collection was indirect interview technique and it used questionnaire to collect the data. The result showed that academic procrastination behavior of the students class VIII in Junior High School 13 Pontianak was in high level. (1) The characteristics of academic procrastination was 74% with medium level, (2) The factors causing academic procrastination was 76% with high level, (3) The effects of academic procrastination was 80% with high level, (4) The effort of counselling teacher to overcome the academic procrastination was 84% with high level. It can be concluded that the academic procrastination of the students in class VIII of  junior high school 13 Pontianak can influence the students’ score and their future. Keywords: Academic Procrastination, Students’ Behavior, Effect

Abstract

 AbstractThe purposes of this research are to investigate the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the writing descriptive text and  to find out the effect size after being taught by using clustering technique of eighth grade students of SMPNegeri 21 Pontianak. The form of this research is a pre-experimental study with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research is class VIII G of SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak that consists of 37 students. The research findings show that the mean score of pre-test is 49,18 while the mean score of post-test is 76,10. It shows that clustering technique increases the students? writing skill. The result of t-test is 11,30. It is higher than t-critical value (11,30>2,042) in level of 0,05. As the result, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The calculation of effect size of the treatment is 1,9. It is categorized as ?High? based on the table of qualification of effect size as it indicates the result of 1,9 is higher than 0,8. It can be concluded that there is a highly significant effect of clustering technique to increase students? writing descriptive text on the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak.Keywords: Clustering Technique, Writing Skill, Descriptive Text

Abstract

AbstractThis study was motivated by the concern about the lack of students? ability in learning music, especially skills in playing musical instrument. One of the possible reason is due to the lack of talent and interest towards music class. The research questions were: (1) Howis learning rhythm pattern through non-conventional percussion instruments for eight-grade students of SMPN 9 Pontianak planned? (2) How is learning rhythm pattern through non-conventional percussion instruments carried out? (3) How does the application of rhythm-pattern lesson using non-conventional percussion instruments improve students? ability in music?.The methodology employed in this study was qualitative method using classroom action research. This is evidenced by (1) the observation notes in the cycle I, II, and III, (2) the improvement of the percentage of students? understanding and ability that rises from 25% (categorised as low) in pre-cycle to 30% (medium category) in cycle I. Thus, a significant upsurgeis observed in cycle II and III which is categorised as high, accounting 50% and 90% respectively.In the pedagogical implication, teacher should use non-conventional percussion instruments to attract learners? motivation in learning as well as to create a positive classroom atmosphere.Key words: Rhythm Pattern, Non-conventional Percussion Instrument.

Abstract

Abstract The  research work aimed to find out the effect of teaching strategy of group to group exchange on student’s achievement in virus topic in grade X of Senior High School Mujahidin Pontianak. The research was quasi experimental design using nonequivalent control group design. Sample was collected using saturation sampling, grade X MIPA 1 as the experimental group and grade X MIPA 2 as the control group. The instrument consisted of 20 multiple choice questions. The research finding showed that the average score of student’s achievement for the experimental group was 14,94 and  for the control group was 13,24. Based on U Mann Whitney test, the research obtained Zcount (-2,95) < -Ztable (-1,96). This meant that there was a significant differences between student’s achievement using group to group exchange strategy and expository strategy. The effect size score was 0,91 with high category gave big influence by 31,86%. Keywords: Group to group exchange strategy, student’s achievement, virus topic.

Abstract

AbstractThe problems of this research were focused on the planning, implementation and obstacles of applying scientific approach on thematic spider web learning model, aiming at making learners more active, critical thinking, the direct process experienced by the learners, the learning could be more meaningful, contekstual and fun. This research was conducted at  Public Primary School (SDN) 07 and  Public Primary School (SDN) 36 at Sungai Ambawang District. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the educators and the students of grade IV at SDN 07  and SDN 36 of Sungai Ambawang District. The techniques of data collection used were observation, interview, and documentation study. Data analysis was conducted through the steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The technique for examining data validity was by triangulation. The results revealed that the educators have implemented the scientific approach on the thematic spider web learning model. The scientific approach implemented, includes: (1) observing, (2) questioning, (3) trying, (4) reasoning, and (5) communicating. The obstacles encountered in this lesson were lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure, the ability of their educators in mastering the learning strategy, and the low level  participation of some parents who were less concerned on their children education and also the different characteristics of  the learners. Keywords: scientific approach, thematic spider web learning model

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the influence of application the jigsaw type to the learning outcomes of Civic Education students in Primary School. The method used is the experimental method. This research using Pre-Experimental Design with form One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample of this research are all students in grade IV SD 15 Pontianak Selatan with a total of 21 students. The data collection technique is a measurement technique. The data collection tool used is a test. Based on the data analysis, the result of average pre-test is 50,05 and post-test is 56,71. After t-test is obtained tcount of 1,84,while ttable with db = 2 –1  = 20 and significant level (α) = 5% is 1,725, it turns out tcount > ttable or 1,84 > 1,725, then Ha accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of application the jigsaw type to the learning outcomes of Civic Education students in Primary School. Based on the results of the calculation of the effect size obtained 0,36 which is classified in the medium category, namely in the range of effect size of .50 is medium. Thus it can be said that application the jigsaw type gives a medium influence on the learning outcomes of Civic Education students in Primary School. Keywords: Influence, Jigsaw Type, Learning Outcomes Of Students, Civic Education

Abstract

AbstractAdolescence is a very potential phase for the growth and development of physical and psychological aspects both in quality and quantity. Because they consider themselves no longer children but people around him still consider themselves immature. However, their behavior is oaften still exlusive and has not shown maturity, which is spread by a strong urge to find and show their teenagers identity often free themselves from their parents and direct attention to the environment outside their families and tend to be more happy with their peers. This study aims to determine the relationship of Peer Social Interaction with Self Understanding Students Class X IPS in SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. The method used is descriptive method and research form using relationship study. The population in this study as many as 164 students and samples 42 students class X IPS. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques used indirect communication techniques and data collection tools using questionnaires. Data analysis techniques using the formula percentage and product moment correlation. Based on the results of this study stated that there is a Relationship of Peer Social Interaction With Self Understanding Students Class X IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya which is included in the category of "Very Strong". This shows that peer social interaction has a very strong relationship with students' self understanding. Keyword: Friends Of The Same Age , Self Understanding

 AbstractThe learning process that students do not only can be in the classroom can also be done outside or in the environment where they live. The environment around the students is also not far from the culture. Education and culture is something that can not in everyday life, because culture is unity and unity, apply in every society and education is a necessity for every individual in society. Currently the 2013 curriculum used is a very deep learning environment. In the textbook used is still a lot of language that must be understood students. The use of everyday language, language use is often interpreted as being able to speak in that language. More seriously here is defined as the ability to use symbols directly to communicate. The research used in this research is descriptive explorative research. The results obtained in this study are the mention of integers in the local language, the various units in the provision of ritual gear equipment, and the use of counting operations in the ritual activity of the device. all the results that can be integrated in mathematics learning.Keywords: Learning, Local Language, Etnomatematics

Abstract

AbstractThe research in this thesis aims to determine the Learning Outcomes of Problem Based Learning Models in Social Studies of Class VII Students of Junior High School 3 Pontianak. The research method used in this research is Experiment with True Experimental design and Posttest-only control design. Techniques Data collectors are carried out through observation and tests. Data collection tool used is the observation sheet (Check List), and Post-Test. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Learning outcomes of social studies students in class VII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak in the experimental class using the Problem Based Learning model obtained a percentage of 92% the average score of 18.28. 2) Students' learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class VII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak in the control class using the model number head together obtained a percentage of 75% average score of 17.11. 3) Problem-Based Learning Model can improve learning outcomes in IPS Subject Students Class VII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak can be seen from Effect Size Problem Based Learning Model on IPS Subjects Students Class VII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak of 0.61 included in the category of being.  Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model, Social Studies

Abstract

 AbstractThe background of this research is to record the accompaniment of Tatung parade of Tionghoa and Dayak tribe, especially in Cap Go Meh ceremony in Singkawang city. Descriptive reaserch method and musical approach is used in this reasearch. The data is analyzed in qualitative. The interviewees that take part in the data is Eko Ladan, Simson Mihai, Eddyhlius sean, Chie Jun Fo and some artists who take part actively in accompiment of Tatung parade.
