Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted using descriptive methods. The reasonresearchers used the descriptive method through the stages of data collection,data analysis, and data presentation was because the researcher wanted toprovide an objective picture of the terminology of community activities relatedto the Kapuas River in Pontianak Malay. The form of research used isqualitative research. This qualitative approach was taken because in thisstudy the objectives or research objects were limited so that the data takencould be extracted as much as possible and so that in this study it was notpossible to expand the research object. Based on the results of the study,researchers found a description of the terrain of terminology in activities inthe Kapuas River watershed Pontianak Malay community found four activitiesnamely cultural activities, fishing activities, daily activities and touristactivities with a total of 86 words. All terminology in activities in the KapuasRiver basin of the Pontianak Malay community has 86 lexical meanings and16 cultural meanings. The implementation of learning using culturaldescription text, which is a waste, makes it easier for students to understandthe text because the culture of waste is closely attached to the Pontianakcommunity living on the Kapuas River.Keywords: Field of Meaning, Malay Language, Semantics.

Abstract

AbstractThe study aims to explain and analyze intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in the form of desires and desires to succeed, encouragement and needs in learning, hopes and ideals, appreciation, conducive learning environment and interesting learning activities for students of class VIII E in social studies subjects at SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak. This research uses a qualitative methods. The results showed that (1) The desire and success of the participants did not do the assignments given by the studentsseriously. (2) The encouragement and the needs of the studenst’ learning teachers could be said to be poor, the students who looked lack of focus and look bored. (3) Expetations and ideals of participants can be quite good, but do not have a major impact in influencing students’desire to be more active in learning social studies subjects. (4) Awards in learning given by teachers to students can be is said to be good enough in fostering learning impiulse in student. (5) Learning environment can be said to be unfavorable, students feel overheating due to be inadequate classroom facilities (6) Learning activities can be said to be inadequate, students often feel bored in social studies learning because the methods used by teacher are less varied. Abstract

AbstractThe research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The source of data is the novel Cinta terakhir Sang Sultan by Sunardian Wirodono. The research data is words and sentences in the form of code mixing and code switching. The technique of data collection uses documentary. The tools of data collection are a laptop and data cards. The analysis results indicate that there are 78 data being analyzed in the novel Cinta terakhir Sang Sultan by Sunardian Wirodono. The occurrences of code mixing of Javanese are 56 data, while the occurrences of code mixing of Dutch and English are 19 data. The code switching has 3 data. The word level of code mixing has 33 data, while the phrase level has 12 data, clause level with 6 data, idiom level with 5 data, baster level with 5 data, reduplication level with 1 data and external code switching with 3 data. The background of code mixing is 19 data, while the background of code switching is 3 data. The factors that influence the occurrence of code mixing are 12 data, while the factors of code switching are 3 data. Keywords: Descriptive,  Code Mixing, Code Switching

Abstract

AbstractThis study is to identify the main character’s personality in the novel 24 Wajah Billy by Daniel Keyes, and to describe its relationship to id, ego, and super-ego as the aspects and factors emerging human’s personality; that is to describe the implementation of the results into the Indonesian instructions at school. The benefit of this study are devided into two categories: practical and theoritical. The theory applied in the study was psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. This study using the descriptive method and psychoanalysis approach. The data sources in this study is novel 24 wajah billy, while the data are words, sentences, and events. The data collection techniques in this study used documentary study technique. Data collections tool in this study is self-research as a key instrument. The analysis shows that (1) the main character in the novel has fifteen personalities that are seen from the aspect of id, ego, and superego. (2) The factors emerging the personalities are viewed based on seven personal aspects. (3) The result was implemented into the Indonesian language and arts subject material on the basic competencies 3.9 and 4.9 of third grade on the senior high school. Keywords: Personality, The main character, Novel.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is to find out the relationship between variations of teaching and teaching with the interest in learning of class X students of SMA PGRI 1 Pontianak in East Pontianak District, Pontianak City. This research is a type of correlational research. The population in this study were all grade X students of SMA PGRI 1 Pontianak in East Pontianak District, Pontianak City, totaling 78 students. Samples were taken as much as 1 class of the total population with Purposive Sampling techniques, obtained by 39 students. Data obtained by the questionnaire method as the main data collector. Observation, as supporting data. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing.The results showed that the variation of teaching methods included in the category quite varied with the acquisition of an average score of 28.82. Learning interest is included in the high category with the acquisition of an average score of 20.03. Hypothesis test results obtained that the coefficient R2 of 0.164 has an F-test value = 7.243 which is greater than 0.05 This means that the research hypothesis which states: "there is a significant influence of the use of variations in teaching methods on student learning interest in sociology subjects" is accepted. Keywords: relationship; interest to learn; variety of teaching methods

Abstract

AbstractThis Classroom Action Research was aimed to improve students’ reading comprehension of biographical recount text through Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review (SQ3R) technique. The tenth grade students of SMKN 3 Pontianak were the subject of this research. The findings showed that the students’ problems in understanding biographical recount text especially in finding main idea and detail information were solved by using SQ3R as their reading technique. The students also responded to the implementation of SQ3R technique positively. They become active learners in generating questions, providing and presenting the answers and discussing their work together. Based on the findings, it is concluded that SQ3R technique can improve comprehension in reading biographical recount text by providing a structured stages for reading activities.  Key words: Reading Comprehension, Recount Text, SQ3R Technique

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of the Cooperative Learning Type Picture and Picture on the poetry writing skills of fifth grade students at the 13th Elementary School in West Pontianak. The research method used is an experimental, Non-Equivalent Group Design type Quasi Experimental form. The research population was all students of class V Elementary School 13 West Pontianak, totaling 72 students. The sampling technique uses probability sampling while the sample is the VA class as an experimental class with 35 students and the VB class as a control class with 37 students. The data collection technique used the measurement technique. Data collection tools are written tests in the form of essays. The results of data analysis namely, the average score of the control class post-test was 69.18 and the experiment was 78.28. Based on the results of t-test calculations obtained tcount 3.146 > t table 1.98, then Ha is accepted. This shows that there is an influence in the poetry reading skills of the control class students with the experimental class. Calculation of effect size of 0.83 (high criteria).Keywords: Influence, Picture and Picture, Poetry Writing Skills.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to find out whether the application of  Problem based learning was effective in teaching a statistics materials to the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. This research is classified as a pre-experimental and conducted in form of one case study or post-test only design. The population of this research were 162 students of eleventh grade, and the samples were 40 students. Purposive sampling was used to choose the sample. The result of the data analysis showed that the study result was not reached, learning activity was quite active and student gave a positive respons. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the application of  Problem based learning was  effective in teaching a statistic materials  to the grade XI 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya because the study result was reached and learning activity was quite active.Keyword: Problem Based Learning, Response, Student Activities

Abstract

AbstractThe purposed of this research was to determine the effectiveness of remediation misconception by using  Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) model to reduce the number of the students who have misconceptions about vibration at SMP Negeri 5 Sambas. This research method was pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. This research used intact group random sampling which involved 24 students of VIII C class. The diagnostic test which consists of 12 multiple choices with open reason used to identification students’ misconceptions. Based on data analysis, there was a decrease percentage the number of the students’ who have misconceptions with an average of 75.75 %. The results of the McNemar test showed χ2score (125.83) higher than χ2table (3.84)  which means that the students’ conceptual changed significantly after the remediation activity using SSCS model. The remediation effectiveness based on DQM score with an average of 77%  (high category). The SSCS model is expected to be used as alternative remediation activities to reduce the number of the students’ who have misconceptions.  Keywords: Misconception, Remediation, SSCS, Vibration

Abstract

AbstractNoun is word that represent people, things, times, and places. According to the meaning, noun is divided into six categories, one of them is the preposition。 The example of the preposition were “yilai” and “yihou”. In the Chinese learning class, some learners were misunderstood with the use of the two words and misused them. There were also some errors  in the application of the words. The author examined students of Chinese Teacher Education of Tanjungpura university in academic year 2016. The author examined the learners ‘mastery of the preposition “yilai” and “yihou” and analyzed the learners’ difficulty in learning the preposition “yilai” and “yihou”. The result of the research showed that the students of Chinese Teacher Education of Tanjungpura university in academic year 2016 were more able touseandunderstand ‘yihou’ rather than the use of ‘yilai’. The percentage of “yihou” was 66%, while “yilai” was only 61%.  Keyword: preposition, yilai, yihou, the analysis of mastery
