Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide an understanding of the wise use of social media in digesting and accepting all information circulating on the internet from any source. The target of this activity is the PKK women's association in Pucangsawit Village, Jebres District, Surakarta City. In order to achieve the stated objectives, this activity uses normative methods by reviewing laws and regulations and empirical methods with legal counseling education methods to the community through lectures, presentation of materials/modules and showing AI-based videos. The results obtained from this Community Service agenda are increased knowledge of the participants about the importance of examining and filtering information and videos on social media that contain elements of forgery, editing using the ChatGPT or AI feature using pre-test and post-test indicators that show an increase in understanding of participants who initially still had difficulty distinguishing AI videos and are now starting to be able to identify their authenticity, so that participants are starting to be careful not to easily believe something that is not certain of its truth.

Abstract

Cocofiber residue from cocopeat processing in Kedayunan Village has not been productively processed because PKK members have limited access to simple processing technology. This program aimed to strengthen participants' capacity to produce eco-friendly coco pots. Participatory training and mentoring were conducted on 6 May 2026 with 25 participants, covering needs identification, environmental education, wire frame fabrication, cocofiber arrangement, finishing, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, documentation, a 10-item pretest–posttest, and a five-criterion skills rubric. The mean knowledge score increased from 88% to 96%, an increase of 8 percentage points. More importantly, participants converted prior knowledge into practical experience and collectively produced 28 cylindrical prototypes with a diameter of approximately 17 cm. The main constraints were inconsistent frame dimensions, uneven fiber density, and inconsistent surface finishing. Verified short-term outcomes included improved understanding, basic product-making skills, and working prototypes; economic and environmental impacts have not yet been measured. Follow-up actions should prioritize product standardization, durability testing, cost calculation, branding, and local marketing through PKK networks and village institutions.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools is often dominated by lecture-based methods, leading to low student engagement and limited conceptual understanding. This issue was identified among 23 fifth-grade students at SDN Dabasah 3 Bondowoso, particularly in the topic of changes in the states of matter. An activity-based science learning approach was implemented, incorporating simple experiments, group discussions, and educational games. Evaluation used pre-tests, post-tests, and Likert-scale questionnaires analyzed descriptively. Results showed significant improvement, with average scores rising from 64.3 to 81.7 (p = 0.001, Cohen's d = 0.82). Students became more actively engaged, confident in expressing opinions, and capable of connecting concepts to real-life phenomena. Activity-based learning effectively enhanced students' cognitive processes, fostering a more meaningful, interactive, and student-centered learning environment.

Abstract

Creativity is the ability to come up with new, useful, and different ideas or works from what already exists (Munandar, 2009). This community service activity aims to foster creativity and environmental awareness among the children at Yarhima Bondowoso Orphanage through training on how to use recycled materials. The methods used included giving presentations, discussions, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and guidance, involving 15 participants. Evaluation was done using a one-group pre-test and post-test design, along with observations. The evaluation tool consisted of 15 multiple-choice questions about creativity and recycling. The results showed that the participants' average scores increased from 10.20 to 12.87, a 26% improvement. Participants also successfully made crafts from used materials such as piggy banks, flower pots, and simple trash bins. Besides improving skills and creativity, this activity also raised the participants' awareness about reusing items that are no longer in use. Thus, this training is effective for developing creativity and an environmentally caring character in orphanage children.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) requires the younger generation to possess adequate digital literacy, including the ability to utilize AI in learning contexts. Although Indonesian society has a relatively high awareness of AI, knowledge and productive usage remain limited. This community service activity aims to enhance the competencies of students at SMAN 12 Denpasar in utilizing generative AI, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, to support their learning processes. The activity was conducted on December 12, 2025, involving 30 twelfth-grade students through three stages: preparation (needs survey and module development), training (theoretical and practical sessions), and evaluation via online questionnaires. Results showed 92% of participants were satisfied, all reported increased understanding and skills in AI, and 100% expressed interest in continuing similar activities. The structured, practice-based approach proved effective and replicable in Indonesia's secondary education.

Abstract

The challenges of the Society 5.0 era demand the transformation of society from passive digital consumers into productive content creators. This community service project aims to enhance digital literacy and autonomy among productive-age residents in Cibogohilir Village, who previously faced limitations in optimizing gadgets for value-added purposes. The implementation method was rooted in andragogy and the experiential learning cycle through the DIGICAM (Digital Creative Academy) program. The program execution stages comprised planning, preparation, workshop implementation, intensive mentoring, and evaluation. The core intervention focused on training and mentoring sessions for creative content production utilizing the CapCut application. The results indicated a significant escalation in participants' digital autonomy. The tangible outputs of this service are a portfolio of short promotional videos for village MSMEs and local educational infographics. The long-term impact of this program is the establishment of residents' digital resilience and the realization of self-reliance in amplifying the village's economic and social potential independently.

Abstract

Drug abuse remains a serious problem in Indonesia, affecting public health, social life, productivity, and community security. Preventive efforts require effective educational programs supported by the communication skills of outreach officers. This community service activity aimed to improve the understanding of officers from the Prevention and Community Empowerment Division (P2M) of the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra Province regarding verbal communication and interactive counseling techniques. The method employed was psychoeducation through lectures, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and the distribution of a pocketbook as an educational medium and practical guide. The results showed that the pocketbook helped enhance officers' understanding of effective communication and the application of interactive counseling techniques. Participants provided positive feedback, stating that the material was concise, systematic, and relevant to field practice. This activity is expected to improve the quality of drug abuse prevention counseling by making information delivery more communicative, participatory, and effective.

Abstract

Della Village, located in Selemkai District, Tambrauw Regency, Southwest Papua, is a remote coastal settlement with only one access road approximately one kilometer long and nearly 45 degrees steep. During the rainy season, this route often becomes impassable due to landslides and erosion, while the shoreline is vulnerable to abrasion caused by strong sea winds. This community service activity aims to improve accessibility through a vegetative approach, specifically planting trees to stabilize the slopes and protect the coast, thereby making transportation more sustainable. The participatory method includes socialization, collective planting, and maintenance planning. On August 18, 2025, 20 coastal tree seedlings (coconut and sea almond) were planted, with an additional plan to plant 51 more. Results showed significant improvement in community knowledge and understanding of the role of vegetation in erosion and abrasion mitigation.
