Abstract

The dairy industry is in need of a paradigm shift from traditional practices to a contemporary, enhanced system. This study aims to analyze and characterize business models that bring added value to the conventional dairy business, fostering a more sustainable approach to cattle healthcare. While the amalgamation of sustainable practices and cattle health within dairy business models remains relatively unexplored, this study bridges the gap. In the month of April 2022, a cross-sectional study was carried out in selected dairy cooperative (KPS Cianjur Utara), West Java, Indonesia. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of business model frameworks pertinent to the management and staff of dairy cooperatives, a practical approach has been developed. This approach serves the purpose of assisting cooperatives in meticulously evaluating their existing models while also facilitating the creation of novel and innovative business approaches. This tool involves augmenting the Business Model Canvas (BMC), introducing novel dimensions that operationalize dairy farm and cooperative dynamics. The proposed dairy cooperative BMC framework presents a pragmatic structure for formulating and disseminating a holistic, improved model. Diverse dairy cooperative business models have been identified and extensively deliberated upon. Despite varying organizational architectures and approaches to value creation, a common thread of collaboration and adaptability to external fluctuations runs through all these models. This study lays the foundation for transformative change within the dairy sector, aligning it with contemporary sustainability objectives. Abstract

Volatility can be measured, but in fact, there is still frequent debate over the selection of precise measurements in describing volatility. In Indonesia, the commodity market is known for its volatile prices, which can impact the livelihood of farmers, traders, and the wider economy. The existence of possible asymmetry in the behavior of food commodity price volatility in the Indonesian market is not yet known. This paper aims to determine the best model to describe the volatility and to investigates the presence of the asymmetric effect on the volatility of food prices in Indonesia, over the period 2009-2019, on a monthly basis. Modeling of volatility uses the GARCH family model, both symmetric and asymmetric. The results showed that the GARCH asymmetric model produces better performance than the symmetric GARCH. Through the best GARCH asymmetric model, the food commodities used in this study showed a statistically significant asymmetrical effect on volatility. Nevertheless, policymakers and market players need to be aware of the impact of market volatility and implement measures such as real-time price information systems to mitigate its effects. The government can increase food production by providing support to farmers in managing supply efficiency and improving agricultural infrastructure. Abstract

Palm oil has occupied an important position in the world trade of edible oils. India is still very dependent on palm oil imports, including other vegetable oils, to meet the needs of cooking oil and palm-based food industries. This study uses an ARDL approach to examine several factors that affect the demand for palm oil imports (CPO and RPO) from Indonesia in the Indian market. In the long run, CPO imports in the Indian market are significantly affected by CPO prices, sunflower oil prices, soybean oil prices, import tariffs, real exchange rates, real income per capita, soybean oil production in India, and India's population. Indonesian RPO imports in the Indian market are also significantly influenced by import price, soybean oil price, import tariff, and total vegetable oil production in India. Indonesia should be able to capitalize on the Indian market as its demand for vegetable oil is increasing. The increasing size of the Indian market (although more protective) is a challenge for Indonesia to meet the demand for vegetable oil in the Indian market. Indonesia's industrial and trade policy should shift the structure of India's import demand from CPO to palm oil-based downstream semi-finished and final products. Abstract

As the demand for chicken eggs continues to increase, currently Indonesian consumers also have many choices in the decision to purchase good quality eggs in the context of type, quality and place of purchase of eggs. The diverse quality of egg products in the market shows that the Indonesian egg market is increasingly segmented. This research aims to analyze the purchasing behavior of chicken eggs and the factors influencing purchasing decisions in the millennial and Z generations as Indonesia's largest consumer segments. This research used primary data from both online and offline surveys of 365 respondents in Greater Jakarta. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and partial least squares-structural equation modeling. The results showed that the millennial generation tends to purchase eggs more in a month and consider nutritional value, while the Z generation tends to be price oriented. The results also showed that price, purchase location and consumer knowledge significantly positively affected egg purchase decision for both the millennial and Z consumer segments. In addition, millennial consumers also consider product qualities and lifestyle in their chicken egg purchase decision. A better understanding of consumer behaviour for chicken eggs among different segments is vital for marketers to efficiently meet the expected and dynamic consumer demand. Abstract

Indonesian tea products have become an export-oriented commodity. However, Indonesian tea products trade performance, particularly the exports, has shown a persistent decline for the last decade (2012–2021). Therefore, this study aims to analyse the competitiveness of Indonesia tea products export as well as map the export destinations for Indonesia tea products. This study employs secondary data regarding tea product export value from UN Comtrade during the 2012–2021 period with analysis using revealed comparative advantage (RCA), export product dynamic (EPD), and X-model potential export product. The RCA results suggest that Indonesian tea products exhibit an overall strong comparative advantage in the international market, albeit still lagging behind India. Additionally, Indonesia also exhibits a strong comparative advantage in all tea products, except tea extract and preparation products. The EPD results show that Indonesia possesses a competitive advantage in packaged black tea, bulk green tea, also tea extract and preparation products. The export destination mapping reveals the 28 potential destinations serving as the focus for Indonesian tea export expansion. These potential destinations are dominated by the non-traditional. Abstract

Background: There is a high demand for wheat flour, but the supply of it is reduced due to high prices and world oats availability because of climate change and conflicts. Cassava is processed through a fermentation process into mocaf flour and can be used as an alternative substitute for wheat flour. However, the availability of cassava has decreased in the last five years. Purpose: This research aims to determine the factors that influence the availability of cassava by considering sustainability. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses primary data from the Mocaf agro-industry and secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics website, as well as previous research. Supply chain management is used in this study with a model simulation of a dynamic system. The simulation model begins by creating a Causal Loop Diagram (CLD), building a mathematical model to formulate relationships between related entities, developing a Stock Flow Diagram (SFD), and drawing the model with Stella Software.Findings/Result: The results show that the factors that influence the availability of cassava as raw material for mocaf are harvest growth and an increase in the purchasing price of cassava at the farmer level. The simulation results show a substitution policy of 30% and cassava harvest growth of 1% every year, with the total availability of cassava being 17 million tons. The sustainability factor which refers to the simulation results, namely from the environmental dimension, can reduce CO2 emissions. The social dimension is the absorption of rural labor and home industry labor, utilization of marginal land, increasing income, and realizing food security. The economic dimension is the added value and durability of the mocaf. Conclusion: The factors that influence the availability of cassava as raw material for mocaf are harvest growth and an increase in the purchasing price of cassava at the farmer level. Implementation of the development scenario the availability of cassava can be fulfilled.Originality/value (State of the art): Substitution policy for mocaf and cassava harvest growth can increase the availability of cassava and implementation of the development scenario (substitution policy of 30% mocaf and cassava harvest growth of 1%) the availability of cassava can be fulfilled. Keywords: mocaf, model simulation, cassava, supply chain management, dynamic system
