Abstract

Indonesia as a multicultural country faces serious challenges in managing diversity so that it does not develop into social conflicts and intolerant religious attitudes. In this context, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has a strategic role in instilling the values of religious moderation through the development of an inclusive and contextual curriculum. This research aims to examine the concept of multicultural PAI curriculum development with an emphasis on the integration of religious moderation values in Islamic education. The research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. Data was obtained from primary sources in the form of the Qur'an, Hadith, as well as works by Islamic education scholars and thinkers, as well as secondary sources in the form of books, journal articles, and relevant education policy documents. Data analysis is carried out through content analysis and thematic analysis to formulate a conceptual framework for the development of a multicultural PAI curriculum. The results of the study show that the development of a multicultural PAI curriculum is a strategic need to systematically instill the values of tawassuth, tasamuh, i'tidal, and shura in the learning objectives, materials, and processes. This curriculum has positive implications for the formation of inclusive religious character, the prevention of religious extremism, and the strengthening of students' national commitments. This research confirms that the multicultural PAI curriculum based on religious moderation is an important foundation for the development of Islamic education that is relevant to the reality of a plural society and the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the planning, implementation, and assessment of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at 193 Barru State Elementary School. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to gain an in-depth and contextual understanding of PAI learning practices that take place in schools. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using source and method triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that the PAI learning plan has been prepared according to the curriculum and meets administrative completeness, but it is still normative and less innovative and not fully oriented to students. The implementation of learning is conducive and religious, but it is still dominated by a teacher-centered approach with limited variations in learning methods and media. Meanwhile, PAI learning assessments tend to focus on cognitive aspects, while affective and psychomotor assessments have not been carried out systematically and measurably. This research emphasizes the importance of developing more creative, participatory, and holistic PAI learning in order to be able to form students who have faith, noble character, and are able to practice Islamic teachings in daily life.

Abstract

The process of the entry of Islam into the archipelago is an important part of the journey of Indonesian history which took place gradually and peacefully. The spread of Islam was not carried out through military force, but through social interaction that was built between Muslim traders, clerics, and local communities. Trade activities became the initial medium for the spread of Islam, especially in coastal areas that had long been connected to international trade routes. Through these interactions, Islamic values are introduced slowly and accepted by the local community. In addition to trade, Islamic da'wah also develops with a cultural approach that adjusts to the social and cultural conditions of the people of the archipelago. Preachers, including Sufi figures, convey Islamic teachings in a persuasive and accommodating way to local traditions, thus creating a harmonious acculturation process. This research aims to examine the process of entry and development of Islam in the archipelago through trade and da'wah channels, as well as analyze the formation of the Islamic pattern of the archipelago. The research method used is a qualitative approach through literature studies on various historical sources and relevant scientific studies. The results of the study show that the combination of trade, cultural da'wah, and education gave birth to Islam Nusantara which is moderate, inclusive, and adaptive to the diversity of Indonesian society until now.

Abstract

The development of socio-religious dynamics in Indonesia today faces the challenge of polarization between religious radicalism and liberalism that has the potential to undermine the foundations of moderate Islam. This research aims to comprehensively describe the strategic role of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) in building a moderate Islamic civilization through theological, institutional, and cultural pillars. The method used is a qualitative approach with an analytical descriptive design, which utilizes content analysis techniques against credible national and international scientific literature in the last ten years. The results of the study show that Aswaja functions as a theological instrument through the principles  of tawasuth, tawazun, i'tidal, and tasamuh which are filters for extreme ideologies. Institutionally, Aswaja values are transformed into habitus in Islamic boarding schools and universities to ensure inclusive social behavior. In conclusion, the cultural flexibility of Aswaja through the rules of al-muhafadzah 'ala al-qadim as-shalih allows Islam to remain relevant in the face of digital disruption and the post-truth era. The sustainability of moderate civilization is highly dependent on the resilience of the thinking methodology (manhaj al-fikr) and the strategy of digitizing Aswaja values in the future

Abstract

The Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) cadre system is one of the strategic instruments in fostering students' character development and organizational capacity within Muhammadiyah Higher Education institutions. AIK functions not only as a compulsory institutional course but also as a means of ideological cadre formation oriented toward strengthening Islamic values, Muhammadiyah principles, and student leadership. This study is motivated by the importance of reinforcing the role of AIK in supporting the sustainability and quality of student organizations grounded in the values of progressive Islam. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the AIK cadre system in developing student organizations and its implications for strengthening organizational culture. The research method employed is a literature review, involving the analysis of national scholarly journals, academic books, and institutional documents relevant to AIK, cadre formation, and student organizations. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach to obtain a comprehensive conceptual understanding. The findings indicate that the AIK cadre system plays a crucial role in shaping students' religious character, leadership ethics, and ideological commitment within organizational activities. The internalization of AIK values encourages the development of responsibility, discipline, solidarity, and social service orientation in student organizational practices. The implications of this study suggest that strengthening the AIK cadre system on a sustainable basis can serve as a foundation for building student organizations that are ethical, competitive, and aligned with the vision and mission of Muhammadiyah in higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of multicultural Islamic Religious Education values within the local cultures of Siangga, Sikamali, and Siangkaran in Tana Toraja. It focuses on three key questions: the conceptualization of Islamic education values in these local traditions, the process of integrating multicultural Islamic values through them, and the outcomes of this integration in social life. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to obtain in-depth and credible data. Data were collected through observation, structured and semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing as proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings indicate that Siangga, Sikamali, and Siangkaran serve as essential cultural foundations for building social harmony, solidarity, and moral character. Siangga promotes mutual cooperation and togetherness, Sikamali emphasizes empathy, politeness, and collective moral awareness, while Siangkaran highlights sincerity and selfless social concern. These values strongly align with Islamic principles such as ukhuwah (brotherhood), ta’awun (mutual assistance), rahmah (compassion), haya’ (moral modesty), and ikhlas (sincerity). Their integration into contextual and collaborative Islamic education reinforces tolerance, respect for diversity, and multicultural awareness.

Abstract

The global political moral crisis characterized by structural corruption, social inequality, identity conflicts, and the degradation of the rule of law shows that the modern state paradigm of the rule of law that emphasizes formal legality has not been fully able to realize substantive justice and the public good. This research aims to formulate the Rahmatan State Code of Ethics as a constitutional profile based on maqāṣid al-syarī'ah in order to present an ethical, humanist, and just state model. This research uses a qualitative approach with juridical-normative and philosophical methods through the study of the constitution, maqāṣid al-syarī'ah literature, and modern constitutional theory. The results of the study show that the concept of the State of Rahmatan can be formulated as an ethical constitutional paradigm that places maqāṣid as the moral foundation for the administration of power. The constitutional profile of the state of rahmatan is formulated through the five pillars of maqāṣid, namely the protection of religion, soul, intellect, descendants, and property, which is compatible with the principles of modern human rights and the values of Pancasila in the 1945 Constitution. The Rahmatan State Code of Ethics serves as a constitutional moral guideline to close the gap between formal legality and moral legitimacy, so that the administration of the state is not only legally legal, but also substantively fair and humanely dignified.

Abstract

Learning outcomes are one of the important indicators of the success of the educational process, which are influenced by various internal and external factors. In reality, students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education are still varied, indicating the need to examine factors such as study discipline, learning motivation, and peer environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of study discipline, learning motivation, and peer environment on students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at Darul Ulum Waru Junior High School, Sidoarjo. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of 255 students, with a sample of 162 students selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that learning motivation has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes, while study discipline does not have a significant effect. In addition, the peer environment also has a positive and significant influence on learning outcomes. These findings suggest that improving students’ learning motivation and fostering a positive peer environment play a crucial role in enhancing learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education.
