Abstract

The problem of organic waste in the school environment, particularly at SDN Keleyan 1, remains a challenge in creating a clean and healthy environment. The large amount of organic waste generated daily, such as food scraps and leaves, is not managed properly, thus potentially polluting the surrounding environment. One solution that can be implemented is processing organic waste into compost, which not only provides ecological benefits but can also be used as an educational tool for students. This article aims to describe practical and educational activities in processing organic waste into compost in grade 3 of SDN Keleyan 1. Through an approach involving socialization, demonstrations, and direct mentoring, students are encouraged to understand and practice the process of processing organic waste in a simple and effective way. The results of the implementation of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge and skills in processing organic waste into compost independently. In addition, this activity also succeeded in building students' awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean environment and the sustainability of the school ecosystem. Overall, this activity has proven effective in educating students about organic waste management and introducing the concept of environmental sustainability from an early age, thereby creating a cleaner, healthier, and environmentally conscious school environment

Abstract

The community service partner is the Tirta Rahayu Women Farmers Group (KWT) located in Tamanan Village, Banguntapan District, Bantul Regency. This group is engaged in the processing of local agricultural products. The main problem faced is the low level of understanding among members regarding how to calculate the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). This results in inaccurate pricing and inconsistency in profits, meaning that the potential of their business has not been optimally exploited. The empowerment program implemented focuses on training in technology and the use of digital cost analysis tools, particularly spreadsheet applications, to calculate COGS. Through socialization, workshops, and mentoring, there was a 45% increase in members' knowledge of COGS and a 17% increase in production efficiency. As a result, KWT Tirta Rahayu is now able to determine fairer selling prices, optimize resource utilization, and increase the competitiveness of their products in the local market.

Abstract

The rapid development of web technology has increased the complexity of modern applications, requiring efficient and accurate testing methods. PT. Neuronworks Indonesia previously used manual and semi-automated testing through the Cypress framework, which has limitations in cross-browser support and script maintenance. To address these issues, a community service activity was carried out by implementing the Playwright framework as a tool for functional web application test automation. The activity included training, test environment preparation, and direct implementation on the company’s web project. The results showed an improvement in regression testing efficiency from around three hours to one hour per cycle. Test stability and consistency increased by approximately 20% with the support of multi-tab features and cross-browser testing. This activity not only improved testing performance but also strengthened the QA staff’s technical competence in using modern automation tools. The implementation of Playwright proved effective in optimizing the quality assurance process and is recommended for broader adoption in web application testing within the industry.

Abstract

Elementary school teachers at Tumiyang 1 Public Elementary School face significant challenges in adopting digital technology effectively with 73% having no prior knowledge of microsites and limited skills in creating interactive digital learning media. This digital literacy gap, common in rural educational contexts, results in conventional teaching methods that fail to engage today’s digital generation effectively. To address these challenges, a two-day intensive microsite creation training program was implemented using a participatory approach through hands-on training, mentoring, and product-based evaluation. The program consisted of three main stages, preparation, implementation, and evaluation and monitoring. Teachers learned to create web-based learning media using Google Sites and S.Id, integrating various digital resources, including Google Drive, Google Forms, YouTube, and Canva. Post-training evaluation revealed universally positive outcomes that most of the participants gained understanding of microsites, with all teachers successfully creating functional, content-rich microsites tailored to their subject areas. All participants expressed interest in further learning and rated the training as effective with clear and accessible materials. This program successfully bridged the digital competence divide, empowering rural teachers as agents of change capable of creating adaptive, interactive learning environments and contributing to educational equity between urban and rural areas.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower orphaned and underprivileged youth at Rumah Yatim Medan through an integrated approach combining mathematics education, creative skill development, and digital literacy. A total of 18 children from elementary to high school levels participated in two sessions of quilted fabric product-making and one session of digital marketing training. Using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach, participants learned three-dimensional geometry concepts—such as area, perimeter, and volume—through hands-on activities involving fabric measurement, pattern design, and product construction. In addition, participants were introduced to basic entrepreneurship through practical exercises in social media-based promotion. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-tests, which showed substantial improvement across three learning domains. The average score for mathematical understanding increased from 55 to 80, product-making skills from 50 to 82, and digital marketing awareness from 40 to 78. The instruments used demonstrated high internal reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.906. The program also enhanced participants’ confidence, collaboration, and initiative. A shared digital gallery was created via social media as a platform for showcasing their products and continuing promotional practice. Shelter staff expressed strong support and commitment to sustaining the activity. This program demonstrates the potential of contextual, interdisciplinary education to foster academic, vocational, and digital competencies in marginalized youth, while supporting the achievement of SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 12
