Abstract

Miana leaves (Coleus scutellarioides) have significant potential as raw materials for herbal products due to their bioactive compounds; however, their quality is highly influenced by harvesting and postharvest handling practices. At BUMDes Tanjung Asri, the existing practices were still simple and not standardized, resulting in inconsistent quality and low added value. This community service program aimed to improve the quality and value addition of miana leaves through assistance in proper harvesting and postharvest handling. The program was implemented using a participatory approach involving four stages: development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), dissemination of SOPs, hands-on field practice, and post-training assistance. The developed SOPs covered harvesting criteria, postharvest handling, and storage processes and were presented in an infographic format. The results showed that partners were able to apply the SOPs more systematically, particularly in sorting, washing, and drying processes, leading to improved handling practices. The learning-by-doing approach effectively enhanced partners’ technical skills, while post-training assistance ensured the sustainability of SOP implementation. Overall, this program contributed to improving the quality, consistency, and added value of miana leaves at BUMDes Tanjung Asri.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by students’ limited understanding of instrumentation physics and the lack of exposure to the application of technologies such as sensors, microcontrollers, and computer vision in both daily life and industry, including related study prospects. This activity aims to enhance students’ understanding and interest in instrumentation physics through socialization and technology-based demonstrations. The implementation methods included pre-tests and post-tests to measure improvements in students’ understanding, material delivery sessions, and demonstrations of various technologies, such as sensor-based water quality monitoring systems, microcontroller-based automatic door systems, a 4-DOF robotic arm, and a Python-based computer vision system for hand detection. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding, as indicated by an increase in the average pre-test score (x = 2.63) to the post-test score (x' = 3.31), with a mean gain of (Δx = 0.68). In addition, students’ interest in pursuing further studies in instrumentation physics also increased after the activity.Overall, this activity proved to be effective in providing students with interactive, contextual, and application-oriented learning experiences.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly influenced and changed the current educational practices, particularly language learning and instruction. However, English instruction at the Indonesian junior secondary school level continues to be predominantly teacher-dominated and frequently provides limited opportunities for interactive, student-centered engagement. A mixed-method approach was applied, including classroom observations, student questionnaires, as well as reflective discussions to examine the impact of the program. Purpose of the Study: This community service was designed to improve students’ learning motivation and English language competencies through the application of gamification-oriented collaborative-competitive learning. The program was carried out at SMP Negeri 5 Sungailiat, Bangka Belitung, involving 30 junior high school students participating in a series of interactive digital games, team-based activities, and point-based competitions integrated into English lessons focusing on past tense structures. Methods: A mixed-method approach was applied, including classroom observations, student questionnaires, as well as reflective discussions to examine the impact of the program. Results: The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ learning motivation, classroom participation, and vocabulary development related to past tense usage. The integration of collaborative and competitive gamification elements created a supportive yet dynamic learning environment, encouraging peer interaction while maintaining students’ enthusiasm through healthy competition. Accordingly, the findings indicate that digital gamification constitutes an effective instructional approach for improving English grammar learning among young learners. This study uniquely integrates collaborative-competitive gamification within a community service framework, offering a practical model for grammar instruction in junior high school EFL contexts.

Abstract

Women-owned Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) play a strategic role in local economic development, yet face persistent challenges including limited managerial capacity, restricted access to financing, and low awareness of halal certification as a competitive strategy. This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding of MSE performance determinants, foster entrepreneurial orientation, and increase halal certification adoption intent among women MSE entrepreneurs in Cibinong, Bogor Regency. The program was delivered through outreach sessions and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving 25 women MSE entrepreneurs selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Pre-test and post-test evaluations were administered to measure knowledge gains and behavioral intent. Results demonstrated significant improvements: prior to the program, only 16% of participants held halal certification and 76% lacked systematic understanding of business performance factors. Following the intervention, 88% expressed intent to obtain halal certification and all participants successfully identified key MSE growth factors including entrepreneurial orientation, owner capacity, human resource quality, social capital, financing access, and government support. Collective strategic recommendations were also formulated through the FGD. These findings confirm that informational barriers—rather than lack of motivation—are the primary obstacle to MSE improvement, and that community-based outreach combined with participatory discussion is an effective empowerment approach.

Abstract

TThe Community Service Program (KKN) conducted by Group 3 ITB Ahmad Dahlan in Waru Village, Parung District, Bogor Regency, West Java aims to address several issues faced by the local community. The main issues identified include the lack of public knowledge regarding digital branding for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the unavailability of clear directional signs towards village facilities, and the low awareness of the importance of environmental cleanliness. To achieve these objectives, this program was designed with several intervention methods. The results of this KKN activity show an increase in community understanding of digital branding, the creation of creativity in arts, as well as the installation of 9 sign systems that were successfully carried out in Waru Village. This activity not only provides direct benefits to the community but also offers valuable experience for students in applying the knowledge they have learned in college. It is hoped that this initiative can continue and create a lasting positive impact for the community of Waru Village

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the competencies of Hajj–Umrah instructors through the utilization of digital service solutions that improve accessibility and effectiveness of guidance. The program was implemented using the Kurt Lewin Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, and involved 125 instructors and participants from KBIHU Muhammadiyah Kota Semarang. The evaluation results indicate consistent improvement in participants’ abilities. Initial observations showed a comprehension level of 56%, which increased to 76% after the first action using conventional learning. In the final post-test following digital service–based instruction, participants’ understanding further improved to 86%. These findings demonstrate that digital service effectively strengthens learning through more accessible and interactive material delivery.  Overall, the program confirms that integrating digital technology into Hajj–Umrah guidance enhances instructor competence and supports KBIHU’s transformation toward more adaptive and inclusive service delivery.

Abstract

This community engagement program was implemented in Lawet Village, West Aceh, a flood-prone rural area severely affected by the November 26, 2025 disaster, which resulted in environmental degradation, limited access to safe water, inadequate sanitation facilities, low adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS), and the absence of safe educational spaces for children. The program aimed to improve post-disaster community health resilience through an integrated community-based approach combining Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) interventions with the CERIA-PHBS (Cerdas, Edukatif, Interaktif, dan Aman) model. The program was conducted through five stages: socialization, participatory assessment, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. Key interventions included the installation of a community-based clean water system, provision of ≥10 portable handwashing stations (CTPS), health education for families, and the establishment of a child-friendly educational space. A pre–post descriptive evaluation was used to assess changes in knowledge and behavior. The results showed significant improvements, including increased access to clean water, improved PHBS practices from approximately 25% to ≥70%, enhanced community knowledge, and strengthened capacity of ≥10 health cadres. In addition, more than 60 children participated in CERIA-PHBS activities, with improved hygiene behavior and psychosocial well-being. This integrated model demonstrates effectiveness in accelerating post-flood health recovery and offers a scalable and sustainable approach for disaster-prone rural communities.
