Abstract

Since the emergence of the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Regulation Number 4 of 2015 concerning the establishment, management, management and dissolution of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES), villages have been indirectly given full authority to manage and develop their potential to become a successful village. independent with a high level of original village income. Each village will be allocated a certain amount of funds from the central government to be managed through BUMDES. Careful planning is needed to manage the potential and funds mandated by the central government. One of the first steps in planning is to map village boundaries. Many villages do not understand how to map village boundaries. Thus, assistance is needed, including outreach regarding village boundaries. Assistance in preparing the village map supports the preparation of the village master plan in the next process. The hope is that with this activity the village will be able to carry out village mapping and identify potential as a first step in preparing a master plan. The location chosen as the place of service is Pagerandong Village, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga Regency. Pagerandong Village has potential agricultural land that needs to be integrated into a thorough planning in the form of a master plan. Based on the results of the study and accompanying village maps, it is known that there are three main activities that have the potential to be developed, namely, agriculture with solar pump irrigation.

Abstract

The amount of food waste and leaves generated in the city of Bandung in 2021 was 1,430.04 tons per day and will continue to increase in 2024 by 1,796.51 tons per day. This condition needs to be controlled, so that it does not cause waste problems in the city of Bandung. In light of these conditions, a team of lecturers from the Urban and Regional Planning Study Program at the Universitas Islam Bandung educated the community on the processing of food and household waste, aiming to enable the community to convert organic waste into a more beneficial resource while preventing environmental pollution, including its potential reuse as fertilizer. In order to achieve the goal of educating the community, the team conducted education on organic waste processing using the Takakura method, together with 29 women of the Ta'lim Abu Bakar Assembly at RT 001 RW 012 Sekejati Village - Buahbatu District. Service activities include 7 (seven) stages, namely planning, coordination, socialization, Pre-Test, education about waste, assistance in making products and evaluation of activities (Post-Test). In the core activity, before the presentation on the understanding of waste management using the Takakura Method, PkM participants were given a questionnaire to find out their understanding of waste and its processing system. Subsequently, the presentation of material and compost making practices using the Takakura Method was carried out, and ended with an evaluation of activities (Post-Test) with the distribution of questionnaires. The results of the PkM activity include an increase in the understanding of PkM participants from 60% to 77% after education. The highest understanding of participants in the types of organic waste and 3R waste sorting was 93%. In addition, PkM participants were also very active during the activity and continued the activity of making kompok (waste processing) using the Takakura Method in their respective homes. So it is hoped that PkM activities can help the community better understand waste sorting, the importance of sorting organic waste, a cleaner environment, and the realization of sustainability.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by a lack of insulin production or resistance to insulin, which leads to increased glucose levels in the body. This disease has an increasing prevalence, both in developed and developing countries, and is becoming a global health problem. One of the main factors at risk of increasing DM is lifestyle and habits, especially the habit of consuming sweet foods and lack of physical activity. This research aims to provide education about controlling sugar consumption in preventing Type II Diabetes Mellitus at an early age, with a focus on PMR MTSN 1 Cirebon students. The method used is direct outreach in the form of counseling with presentations using PPT and LCD. This research used convenience sampling techniques and involved 36 students as respondents. Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest with a questionnaire containing 10 questions to assess knowledge about DM and the impact of excessive sugar consumption. The data obtained were analyzed using the Paired t-Test with IBM SPSS Statistics Version 17.0 software to determine differences in knowledge before and after counseling. It is hoped that the results of the research will increase teenagers' awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, especially in controlling sugar consumption, in order to prevent Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Umbulrejo Village has interesting and unique natural tourism potential. This village has officially become a tourist village and has had a pokdarwis (tourism awareness group); however, after the pandemic, the number of tourists coming was very small, so it had an impact on the economy of the community in Umbulrejo Village. Based on the potential and problems experienced by the Umbulrejo pokdarwis, it is known that the capacity of human resources in managing the Umbulrejo Tourism Village is very limited, so that tourism management is not optimal. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the managerial capacity of the tourist village for the Umbulrejo pokdarwis. This community empowerment activity is carried out through three stages, namely the awareness and behavior formation stage, the transformation stage, and the intellectual enhancement stage. From the results of this community empowerment activity, the following results were obtained: 1) the awareness and behavior formation stage, namely, the community around the Umbulrejo Tourism Village must start building networks and working together as a team, especially between homestay providers and pokdarwis administrators. This stage has been carried out well, and intensive communication has been realized between pokdarwis administrators and homestay providers; 2) the transformation stage, namely, the community begins to integrate local culture into tourism activities. The community prepares a tour package that is integrated with the appearance of local culture in (Umbulrejo Tourism Village; 3) the intellectual development stage, namely the creation of social media for promotion with an attractive and informative design. The Pokdarwis management already has several social media accounts that can be used as promotional media. Through this community service activity, the management of Umbulrejo Tourism Village is expected to maintain the sustainability of tourism in Umbulrejo Village.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease are increasingly found in rural areas, including Karanganyar, which are experiencing a shift in lifestyle due to industrialization. Low public awareness of the importance of physical activity is one contributing factor. This community service aims to improve public knowledge and behavior through education and programmed physical exercise in the form of gymnastics and healthy walking. The implementation method includes initial observation, education using leaflet media, gymnastics training, and fun walking activities. This community service activity was successfully implemented and showed the enthusiasm of the community in participating in physical activity. The activity was attended by a total of 120 people, namely 60 participants for gymnastics and 60 participants for healthy walking. There was a significant increase in participant knowledge about the importance of physical activity in preventing non-communicable diseases, as evidenced by the increase in pre-test to post-test scores. Active community participation and support from local partners show that this community approach is effective in building awareness of healthy living and has the potential to be replicated in other rural areas.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic (non-communicable) disease whose prevalence is currently increasing. Public awareness of the importance of early detection and prevention of diabetes is still relatively low, because this disease is sometimes asymptomatic. Various efforts to prevent and treat DM continue to be developed, including through public education. This activity aims to increase public knowledge about diabetes and the use of natural ingredients as antidiabetics. Car-free day Colomadu was chosen as a strategic location to reach the community by providing accessible health education. This activity is a collaboration between the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy and the Aisyiyah Colomadu Branch Management. The method used is to detect diabetes through blood sugar level checks and education about diabetes, which is done by providing leaflets. The level of knowledge is measured by comparing the pretest and posttest. A total of 19 respondents met the inclusion criteria: visitors to the Colomadu car-free day, had had a blood sugar level check, were willing to fill out a questionnaire, and had a history of education/work not in the health sector. Based on the results of statistical tests, there was a significant increase in knowledge about diabetes (p<0.001) with a pretest value (72.11) in the sufficient category and a posttest value (78.95) in the good category. Based on this, education using this leaflet can increase public knowledge about diabetes. Still, it is recommended that other educational methods, such as counseling accompanied by questions and answers, be used to optimize the results.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with an increasing prevalence due to unhealthy lifestyles and limited public knowledge, including among PKK women in Batan Village, most of whom do not yet understand how to choose healthy foods to prevent and manage DM. This community service program aimed to improve the understanding of PKK members in Batan Village, Banyudono, Boyolali, regarding DM management through proper nutrition and dietary education. The activities were carried out in three stages: fasting blood glucose screening, nutrition counseling, and interactive discussions. Among the 21 participants, 42.86% showed fasting blood glucose levels exceeding 110 mg/dL. The educational materials emphasized the selection of foods with a low glycemic index and the avoidance of foods high in added sugars. The discussion sessions revealed that most participants initially lacked understanding of DM prevention; however, after the program, around 85% of participants were able to mention foods recommended for DM patients and understood the concept of portion control. The education was also contextualized by promoting local food ingredients such as sweet potatoes and peanuts. This program demonstrated that a community-based educational approach can be an effective non-pharmacological strategy to reduce the risk of DM and improve community quality of life, as evidenced by the increase in participants’ understanding, with 85% able to mention recommended foods for DM patients and understand portion control concepts after the education. Simple direct educational interventions proved successful in building significant preventive health awareness.
