Abstract

The existence of stray cats in the Sunan Giri Surabaya Campus environment has caused a number of problems, both in terms of hygiene, comfort, and potential public health risks due to zoonotic diseases. In response to this, this community service activity is designed to provide solutions based on education, medical measures (sterilization), and the active involvement of the campus community in the ethical and sustainable management of feral cat populations. The methods used include initial observation of the cat population, education through seminars and campaign media, the implementation of the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program for 14 cats, and the construction of four feeding stations as feeding and monitoring points. This activity also involves the formation of student volunteer groups as a driver of program sustainability. The results of the activities show significant changes, including a decrease in the number of stray cats that roam aimlessly, an increase in the awareness of the academic community on the importance of humane animal management, and the creation of a cleaner and more comfortable campus environment. This program is proof that a collaborative and educational approach can create solutions that not only solve technical problems, but also build a broader culture of care in the college environment.

Abstract

The Land and Building Tax (Pajak Bumi dan Bangunan – PBB) represents a significant source of regional revenue, crucial for supporting development and public services in the city of Surabaya. To enhance accessibility and taxpayer compliance, the Surabaya City Government, through the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), has developed a digital application known as PBB Online Surabaya. This initiative aims to simplify the process of checking and paying PBB bills online, thereby increasing the efficiency of public service delivery. The implementation methods included the development of a mobile- and web-based application, public outreach campaigns, and community assistance during the implementation phase. Participants were divided into groups responsible for conducting awareness and guidance activities for taxpayers across various districts in Surabaya. The findings indicate that the application expedited the payment process, reduced queues, and improved public access to digital payment services. The initiative involved dozens of participants distributed across several sub-districts in Surabaya. The benefits observed included increased compliance with digital PBB payments, enhanced administrative efficiency, and improved transparency in tax payment records. In conclusion, this initiative highlights that the digitalisation of PBB services via an online application significantly contributes to greater community engagement and more effective local public service delivery, serving as a key innovation model for technology-based governance

Abstract

The low level of academic literacy among madrasah students presents a challenge in the field of education, particularly in writing scientific papers that adhere to academic writing conventions. This study aims to describe the implementation of scientific writing (KTI) training as a strategy to improve students’ academic literacy at MA Nurul Qadim, Probolinggo. The training included an introduction to the structure of scientific papers, proper writing techniques, and hands-on practice in writing papers based on observation or literature studies.The training employed participatory methods using a learning-by-doing and student-centered learning approach. This approach was chosen to ensure that students not only received theoretical material but also directly practiced every stage of writing a scientific paper gradually. The results of the KTI training showed improvements in students’ understanding of scientific structure and ethics, strengthened their logical thinking skills, and fostered interest in researching local issues. In addition, the training contributed to developing a more dynamic academic culture within the madrasah environment. Challenges encountered included limited reference materials, restricted training time, and varied initial abilities among students. Nevertheless, through intensive mentoring and teacher collaboration, these obstacles were gradually overcome.

Abstract

In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, education must keep pace with scientific and technological advancements to stay relevant. Integrating technology into learning is crucial for fostering effective, creative, innovative, and collaborative educational environments. Therefore, educators must master information technology to optimize teaching using various digital platforms. To enhance education quality, teachers at SMPN 75 Jakarta received training focused on developing interactive and innovative learning media. This initiative introduced them to the latest technologies designed to support classroom instruction. The sessions specifically covered using Canva for creating engaging learning materials and Kahoot for developing effective student assessment tools. Both Canva and Kahoot were chosen for their comprehensive features and user-friendliness. The methodology used in this program involved several stages such as observation, where the team visited the partner school to observe its conditions and environmental circumstances; literature review, to identify best practices and relevant digital tools for interactive learning; activity preparation, including designing training modules and organizing necessary resources; implementation, where the two-day training sessions were conducted; and evaluation, which involved collecting feedback and assessing the effectiveness of the training through participant reflections and performance assessments. Conducted over two days, the training was met with positive reception from the participating teachers. Evaluations revealed that the program significantly boosted their digital literacy and technical skills, particularly in the area of crafting interactive and innovative learning media. This directly contributes to improving the overall quality of education provided.

Abstract

The Gold Market event organized by PT Pegadaian Regional Office XII Surabaya represents a strategic innovation in community empowerment through an integrative approach encompassing gold literacy education, health promotion, and support for local MSMEs. This community service program was conducted as a collaborative effort between financial institutions and local communities to enhance financial awareness and socio-economic well-being. The implementation method involved active participatory observation, MSME assistance, direct public education, free health services, and digital publication of the activities. The outcomes showed that the event effectively increased public understanding of gold investment as a secure and accessible financial instrument. The availability of free health screenings also raised awareness about early detection and healthy lifestyles. Moreover, participating MSMEs in the pop-up market benefited from increased product promotion and revenue. The active involvement of more than 1,000 visitors served as a strong indicator of the program’s success in engaging the public. Overall, this activity reflects a community-based service model that can be replicated in other regions to support sustainable social and economic development.

Abstract

The performance and motivation of internship students play a significant role in supporting the efforts of trading companies, particularly PT. Agrodana Futures Surabaya, in building a positive corporate image through social media, which is still negatively perceived by a portion of Indonesian society. As part of the millennial generation, students are increasingly regarded as potential young investors and hold a strategic position in educating the public about legal and responsible trading practices. Throughout the internship program, students engage in a series of structured activities, including morning briefings, training sessions, and market analysis, which equip them with relevant knowledge and skills. These competencies are utilized to disseminate educational information both directly and through social media platforms. The results of the program indicate that internship students are capable of making a substantial contribution to public education efforts aimed at improving the negative stigma associated with the company and the trading industry.

Abstract

TeFa Creative Engineering produces electronic learning equipment or instrumentation that has been scaled up through an online catalog and has a legal logo and trademark. Commercialization of online marketing as a means of transaction in the digital era is an important attention that needs to be improved. Digitalization has changed life patterns including the way we shop and communicate. One of the mobile applications that can fulfill both aspects is the WhatsApp application. WhatsApp is a social media that has been used by 124 million users because it has features that are easy to use and attractive. WhatsApp business developed by WhatsApp has been integrated with AI through bot agents in its chatbot feature. This feature provides user convenience with the autoreply or autoresponse method offered. TeFa Creative Engineering seeks to design a simple online marketing application that makes it easy for users to shop online for TeFa Creative Engineering products. The implementation of TeFa digitalization on the WhatsApp Business AutoResponse-based ordering and sales system shows a user satisfaction level of 90.5%, while those who expressed dissatisfaction were 9.5% with a total of 21 respondents.

Abstract

Coaching for Teaching is a strategic approach to teacher professional development, emphasizing reflective practice, empathy, and student empowerment. This community engagement initiative aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding, motivation, and skills in applying coaching principles to classroom instruction. The program was conducted at SMP Al Baitul Amien over 8 hours and involved 30 teacher participants. The training used lectures, simulations, and case studies. Evaluation was carried out using a Likert-scale questionnaire and open-ended questions. The results showed significant improvements in understanding of coaching principles (from 2.4 to 4.3), motivation to apply coaching (from 2.9 to 4.5), and coaching skills (from 2.2 to 4.0). Qualitative responses revealed that teachers gained deeper awareness of meaningful classroom relationships. The training proved effective as a teacher development model and is recommended for replication and further development through school-based learning communities.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that arises as a result of malnutrition that lasts long enough. Factors that can affect the incidence of stunting are directly influenced by infectious diseases and lack of nutritional intake in quality and quantity. The indirect factors are socioeconomic factors, parental education, parental employment, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization status, reach of health care facilities and inadequate parenting. The problem of stunting is a concern considering the numbers are still high in Indonesia. This includes Jember Regency. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health in the results of the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey in 2022 (in radarjember.jawapos.com) has placed Jember as the area with the highest prevalence of stunted toddlers in East Java with a percentage reaching 34.9 percent. The method used was counseling by socializing and asking questions about stunting to cadre mothers and local mothers in Dukuhmencek Village, one of the villages in Jember. Activities were carried out in each hamlet in this village which includes Krajan Hamlet, Ampo Hamlet, and Botosari Hamlet. In the implementation, we provided posters containing stunting prevention as an effort to continue to improve health status in order to reduce stunting rates in the surrounding area

Abstract

Penyuluh Agama Islam (PAI) at the Kantor Urusan Agama (KUA) in Padang Pariaman Regency play a crucial role as the frontline in advocating for couples and resolving community conflicts. However, PAI has not yet functioned optimally, as reflected by the high divorce rate in this region, ranking second after Padang City in West Sumatra. Conflicting couples also tend to overlook the role of PAI and KUA as third parties that could help mediate their issues. To address this, the community service team sought to enhance PAI’s performance through ToT (Training of Trainers) mediator training, aimed at strengthening marital literacy and preserving marriages in the region. The approach used was group counseling with the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) method. Data analysis applied Miles and Huberman’s techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, alongside the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) for a more structured analysis. This training is beneficial in preparing PAI to become professional mediators, skilled in resolving household conflicts and reducing the tendency of couples to pursue litigation through the Pengadilan Agama (Religious Court).
