Abstract

The teaching materials is importat in the learning process, especially in Indonesian language for foreign speakers (BIPA). The teaching materials can be used as a learning resource and to reduce the learners’ cultural shock. Culinary is the culture that is integrated into BIPA teaching materials, which is developed at the A1 level with the theme of Tulungagung local culinary. They are presented in an interesting, interactive, effective, and easy to be used in everyday life. The research and development of teaching materials refers to the Borg and Gall models. The results of the study are obtained from the scores of the feasibility analysis of teaching materials and response tests as well as verbal data in the form of written data, such as comments, criticisms, and suggestions from material experts, media experts, and foreign learners. In the first stage, the feasibility test results of teaching materials received 82.69%, meaning that teaching materials can be used with improvement. In the second phase of the feasibility test, teaching materials got 98.56%. Furthermore, the foreign learner response test reached 89%. Thus, the BIPA textbook with the theme of local tulungagung culinary is worthy to use, and included in the valid category.

Abstract

One of the competencies that must be possessed by students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, especially at IAI Al-Qolam, is that students are able to perform theater performances. The curriculum of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program also requires students to take Theater Performance courses in the fifth semester. The competency will be mastered by students if they are able to performe based on project learning using the role playing method. Project learning will provide a real stage experience, they will be able to apply various theories related to theater that were previously taken in the Literary Studies course. The role playing method helps students become skillful in a theater performance. The capability of acting is a very important factor, because a character in a theater will have a better performance if the character is able to live up to every role he gets after casting. The role playing method is an effort to improve theater playing skills for students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at IAI Al-Qolam, which is expected to be an effective and fun learning method, so that students are motivated to play theater well.

Abstract

The basic principle of the American Dream as an opportunity for every individual to generate wealth and start a new beginning is widely discussed in a film. American Dream in Minari departs from struggles of Asian immigrant families in achieving the standard of success in America. The purpose of this study is to describe the meaning and value of family struggles concerning the process of achieving the American Dream in the scene contained in one of the drama films from the United States entitled Minari as a representation of human life. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach that is interpretive. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, documentation and literature study of each scene/ shot from the film Minari. The data validity technique in this study is in the form of data triangulation. In determining the theory and analysis techniques used critical paradigm. The data analysis technique used is the semiotic analysis of Charles Sander Pierce. The results of this study will show how immigrants from the point of view of Asian families struggle for their lives in the United States.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the superiority of female characters in the novel Tango and Sadimin by Ramayda Akmal. The approach used in the study is the approach of radical feminism which emphasizes the superiority of women in the reality of literary works. The data source of this study is the novel Tango and Sadimin by Ramayda Akmal. The research data is in the form of story units or story sequences related to the superiority of female characters in the novel. Data analysis technique is done by content analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages as the final stage of the study. The results of the study are as follows. First, the form of superiority of women in the public sphere is characterized by all the activities carried out outside the home that are earning a living to make ends meet, establishing cooperation to build a business, being able to live independently, and becoming the backbone of the family. Secondly, the superiority of women in the domestic realm is illustrated through women's responsibilities in taking care of the household, caring for and giving love, and being able to guide their children to become a better person.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 yang masih belum berakhir membuat pola belajar yang sebelumnya terjadi secara tatap muka berubah menjadi pembelajaran daring. Salah satu media yang bisa digunakan agar STPPA (Standar Tingkat Pencapaian Perkembangan Anak) bidang bahasa tercapai adalah melalui pengenalan sastra anak dengan menggunakan video. Melalui media ini diharapkan anak (1) mengenal dan akrab dengan sastra anak (2) memahami cerita yang dibacakan (3) senang dan menghargai bacaan (4) menyebutkan kata-kata yang dikenal (5) mengungkapkan perasaan dengan kata sifat (6) memperkaya perbendaharaan kata (7) menceritakan kembali cerita/dongeng yang pernah didengar (8) memiliki lebih banyak kata-kata untuk mengekspresikan ide pada orang lain (9) melanjutkan sebagian cerita/dongeng yang sudah diperdengarkan (10) Menunjukkan pemahaman konsep-konsep dalam buku cerita (11) mengenal simbol huruf, bunyi suku kata awal dan kata. Pengenalan sastra anak dilakukan dengan membacakan buku cerita salah satunya buku karya penulis yang berjudul “Yuk, hormati orang tua.” Memahami cerita yang dibacakan dilakukan melalui tanya jawab di WA grup dengan menggunakan voice note tentang cerita dalam video yang dilihat. Buku-buku dengan kemasan menarik ditampilkan di video, orang tua didorong untuk membacakan buku pada anak-anak dan mengembalikan ke tempatnya ketika sudah selesai. Anak dengan capaian perkembangan bahasa sangat baik diajak untuk mengulas buku dan memvideokannya. Melalui cara seperti ini, anak diajak menghargai buku. Dialog menggunakan voice note dengan anak-anak tentang video yang dilihat menunjukkan perbendaharaan kata yang dimiliki, kemampuan menggunakan kata sifat, mendorong anak menceritakan kembali video yang dilihat, mengkespresikan ide melalui kata, memahami konsep cerita dan mengenal simbol huruf atau bunyi suku kata awal. Dari umpan balik tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa berkisah melalui video dapat digunakan untuk mengenalkan dan mengakrabkan sastra anak pada anak usia dini dan bisa digunakan untuk mencapai STPPA anak yang ditetapkan dalam kurikulum 2013.

Abstract

The similarities of literature and human unconsciousness has been proved by many analysis or interpretation over several literary works. Nowadays, a psychoanalysis over literary works is in great popularity. Even more so for the literary works which is kind of difficult to understand. Cala Ibi is a novel with form of lyrical poetry. It has a consciousness as a metafictional to represent its narration. With such a complicated development from the character, Maya, Cala Ibi represents the concept of the mirror stage. As the representation of Lacan’s conception, Cala Ibi presented a reading problem for the reader. Therefore, the reader should read Cala Ibi in the light of psychoanalysis. This paper attempt to show the main problem that caused Cala Ibi difficult to read. The aim of this paper also to explain how Lacan’s conception represented in the form of lyrical poetry. The result of the paper shows that lyrical poetry is an apt form to present the character as a chain of signification that lead the reader to know the main idea of the novel. The development of its complicated narrative has shown the reader that Cala Ibi has no beginning or end. Thus, it is a symbolization of the infinity which reflected in Maya and Maia. On the other hands, the concept of mirror stage has formed intersubjectivity as Maya identify herself to Maia and vice versa.

Abstract

Plurality, diversity, and heterogeneity as well as multiversity of Indonesian society and culture were and still are factual reality in Indonesia, even before this nation-state was founded in 1945. Therefore, in order to live together peacefully and full of equal understanding between one to the others, it is a must to avoid monolithic, homogeneous and uniform policies as far as possible. To achieve this goal, we have to be able to build and realize some form of synergy by way of understanding, tolerance, togetherness, and cooperation each other. Hence, learning to live together, multicultural awareness, and multicultural behaviors are prerequisite to pass over cross-cultural understanding and cross-cultural learning. This, then, insists the importance of multicultural education and here is the site where Indonesian universities have to play their role. The following article will illustrate that society and culture are natural or given but they are man made and enculturised within the groups to live their lives.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning literature to students in class 8C at SMPN 21 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, applying the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach to the drama text "Sultan Suriansyah". This study uses a qualitative method that produces descriptive data in the form of speech or writing and observes behavior of students. The results showed that learning begins with orientation, apperception, motivation, and giving references. Furthermore, the core activities carried out by educators through the CRT approach are self-identification, culturally understanding, collaboration, critical reflection, and transformative construction. The last part of the learning activities carried out by educators is in the form of reflection and follow-up plans. The assessment carried out is the cognitive assessment of students obtained from assignments in the form of text. Indicators for achieving competency 3.15.1 in the form of analyzing the intrinsic elements of the drama presented have been completed with a percentage of 96.7%. Indicators for achieving competency 3.15.2 in the form of analyzing the interrelationships between elements of the drama presented have been completed with a percentage of 60%. The affective value, in the form of self-confidence shows that the level of self-confidence of students has developed as expected, it is 93.4%. The attitude of responsibility shows that the level of responsibility of 56% of students has developed according to expectations and 43.3% has greatly developed. The attitude of cooperation shows that the level of cooperation of 66.7% of students has developed according to expectations and 33.3% has greatly developed. The psychomotor value, namely the ability to discuss students shows that 63.3% of students have achieved the minimum completeness criterion value. Likewise, the presentation skills of students showing 70% of students have achieved the minimum completeness criterion score of 70.

Abstract

Folktale is a story from an area that is told orally by the people and passed down from generation to generation by their ancestors. One of them is the legend of the Buret Lake in Sawo Village, Campurdarat District, Tulungagung Regency. Buret Lake was chosen as the object of research because apart from being famous as a natural tourism area it also has interesting folklore. For this reason, this research was conducted using a qualitative approach. This study aims to understand the architectural structure by using field observation techniques, documentation, interviews, and document studies. The data is in the form of excerpts from interviews with informants. Data analysis is done by analyzing, interpreting, compiling data, and making conclusions. The legend of Telaga Buret has four archetypes namely persona, shadow, hero and self.

Abstract

This study seeks to identify the ojhung tradition in Bugeman Village, Kendit District, Situbondo Regency, based on anthropological elements. The emphasis of this research is based on the study of language, culture, and the values ​​contained therein. This study was designed using a qualitative approach using ethnographic methods with an anthropolinguistic design. Sources of research data are informants as resource persons as many as three people who are classified based on professional criteria and social status. The data of this research are the oral utterances of the informants as they are which inform the ojhung tradition. The collection of research data was carried out by observation and interview techniques. The results of this study are that ojhung is a procession for the people of Bugeman Village to ask for safety, rain, abundant harvests, and repel reinforcements. The Bugeman community is an agrarian society with the Madurese language as their daily language so that the term ojhung itself is a term derived from the Madurese language. In addition, there are values ​​related to culture, namely values ​​related to God, values ​​related to and oriented to nature, values ​​related to and oriented to time, values ​​related to and activity oriented, and values ​​related to and oriented to human relations.
