Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of integrating the Cambridge Curriculum into character building within Islamic education, with a case study at Madrasah Mu’allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The study is motivated by the urgent need for an educational model that balances academic excellence with strong moral formation, especially amid increasing cases of juvenile delinquency in Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings show that curriculum integration is carried out systematically through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning includes vision alignment, curriculum mapping, and teacher capacity building; implementation integrates Cambridge subjects with Islamic values across intracurricular, co-curricular, and boarding programs; and evaluation applies multi-layered monitoring at both unit and foundation levels, combining academic outcomes with behavioral evidence. This model creates a holistic learning ecosystem that enhances academic performance while fostering discipline, responsibility, reflective thinking, social awareness, and leadership skills. Theoretically, the study contributes to the literature on curriculum adaptation and character education, while practically offering a transferable framework for policymakers and Islamic institutions to contextualize global curricula without compromising their local identity.

Abstract

This research was conducted to dissect the role of school principals in improving the pedagogic competence of special assistant teachers (GPK) in implementing an inclusive education system. Inclusive education is part of the education system that provides access to equal education, especially for children with limitations and special needs. The increasing number of schools that implement inclusive education simultaneously provides a big challenge, especially related to the pedagogical ability of special assistant teachers to provide learning for children with special needs in the kindergarten environment. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and a type of case study research to explore the role of school principals in providing pedagogical briefings to special assistant teachers. The data used in the study was collected through several sources, including interviews, observations, and documentation. The results captured from this study show that school principals have a central role in guiding special assistant teachers through coaching to improve their teaching competence and, at the same time, the quality of educational services. Through the research carried out, as well as providing implications related to the importance of schools in ensuring that the learning process with an inclusive education system can run effectively and contribute to further activities and development related to inclusive education, especially at the kindergarten education level.

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of curriculum management practices in secondary education systems in Indonesia and Malaysia. Employing a qualitative library research approach, it examines the governance structures, leadership roles, teacher readiness, and implementation dynamics in both countries. Indonesia’s Kurikulum Merdeka promotes decentralized and flexible curriculum management, enabling contextual innovation at the school level. In contrast, Malaysia’s centralized KSSM ensures policy standardization but limits local adaptability. The findings reveal key challenges, including policy-practice gaps, disparities in teacher competence, and constraints in leadership capacity. Through dialog with contemporary theories such as instructional leadership, teacher agency, and curriculum governance, this study identifies the need for strategic alignment between national policy and school-level implementation. The novelty of this research lies in its regional comparison, offering insights into how educational systems in the Global South manage curriculum reform. It contributes to the discourse on equity, decentralization, and the professionalization of educators in curriculum change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model within the quality assurance system at SMK Sore Tulungagung. Previous studies emphasise that PDCA is essential for institutional quality improvement, yet its application in vocational schools remains underexplored. In Indonesia, ISO-based management systems have encouraged schools to adopt structured planning and evaluation mechanisms. This research uses a qualitative case study design through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Key informants include the principal, the internal quality assurance team, and the administrative staff. The findings show that the planning stage involves comprehensive program mapping aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and risk management principles. The implementation stage demonstrates clear documentation, defined responsibilities, and responsive service flows. The evaluation stage incorporates satisfaction surveys, internal audits, and management review meetings that ensure issues are systematically addressed. Follow-up actions are carried out through corrective measures and continuous improvement efforts. The study also finds that digital monitoring is still limited, affecting long-term consistency. Overall, the PDCA model strengthens the school’s quality culture and operational effectiveness. This study demonstrates how an adaptive, data-driven PDCA framework can enhance internal quality assurance in vocational institutions and recommends integrating digital monitoring systems to ensure sustainability.

Abstract

Al-Kamal Integrated Islamic Boarding School in Blitar plays a strategic role in integrating religious and general education to produce a competitive Muslim generation in the global era. However, challenges such as limited modern facilities and funding become obstacles in improving the quality of education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of strategic management based on non-formal schools in improving the quality of Islamic education in the Islamic boarding school. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that the Islamic boarding school has strengths in the form of a strong vision and mission, strategic location, flexible flagship programs, and adequate facilities. However, weaknesses such as dependence on student tuition fees and limited technological facilities hinder further development. Great opportunities such as government support and the increasing trend of public interest in Islamic education provide space for the Islamic boarding school to continue to develop. Threats from competition with other Islamic boarding schools and the challenges of globalization demand more significant innovation. In conclusion, the implementation of strategic management at Al-Kamal Integrated Islamic Boarding School is effective in improving the quality of education by optimizing strengths and opportunities, although improvements are needed in diversifying funding, increasing technological facilities, and adapting the curriculum based on religious and general integration. This study recommends strengthening collaboration with the government, NGOs, and the private sector to support the sustainability of education that is more inclusive and relevant to the demands of the times
