AKSARA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (Journal of Linguistics and Literature) is a biannual journal (April and October) published by the Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung. It addresses a wide range of different fields in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, and literature. The journal aims to promote the development of links between research in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, as well as literature and its application in professional and educational settings. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami jenis, makna dan fungsi idiom dalam bahasa Bugis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Sumber data diperoleh dari percakapan sehari-hari, teks lagu dan video berbahasa Bugis. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa idiom bahasa Bugis. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu Teknik simak libat cakap, kemudian mencatat hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan idiom. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ditemukan terdapat 38 idiom yang diklasifikasikan dalam dua jenis yaitu idiom penuh dan idiom sebagian. Makna idiom penuh sulit untuk diidentifikasi sedangkan makna idiom sebagian masih dapat telusuri dari makna leksikalnya dan unsur kata yang membentuknya. Idiom bahasa Bugis berfungsi untuk untuk memperhalus ucapan, mengekspresikan perasaan, sebagai sindiran, pujian, julukan, nasihat, dan penegasan dalam suatu pernyataan. Dalam penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan agar menemukan lebih banyak data dalam upaya penyusunan kamus idiom bahasa Bugis sebagai bentuk pelestarian bahasa daerah dan menjaga eksistensi bahasa Bugis di kalangan generasi muda.

Abstract

At Lampung University, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, there are several issues that concern the author, one of which is the digital module for online learning that is not yet available. Therefore, the author made the idea to develop a Digital Module on the UNILA Virtual Class (V-Class) LMS for the Intermediate Writing Course of the English Education Study Program.1) Conducting a survey of students which is divided into three stages of activity, namely, making a questionnaire, distributing questionnaires, and analysing questionnaires. 2) Conducting literature review 3) Developing e-RPS. 4) Making digital modules. 5) Determining the validator who will validate the digital module. 6) Validation of digital modules (expert judgment). 7) Finalization and socialization of digital modules 8) Evaluation and follow-up. The development of Digital Modules on the UNILA V-Class LMS for the Intermediate Writing Course of the English Education Study Program has several impacts, individually it is able to improve technical competence and provide learning innovations. In groups, learning outcomes can be achieved maximally, effectiveness in online learning, and increase student motivation. Organizationally, it can improve the quality of the institution and increase public trust in the institution. The actualization activities carried out are the development of digital modules for the Intermediate writing course of the University of Lampung English Education Study Program which consists of eight activities, as well as efforts to make video which is integrated with other materials that can be uploaded in LMS V-Class Unila. Besides, the learning contract/course outline and lesson plan (e-RPS) were appropriately made and adapted with the new curriculum and the situation while fighting pandemic era. This research was done as a report of the implementation of the actualization of basic training participant which implemented basic values of the civil servant. The hope is that there is an internalization of the basic values of ASN into the author and can also implement the role and position of Civil Servant (ASN) in the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

The low reading ability is one of the causes of reading strategies that are less acceptable. The impact of the lack of acceptance of the strategy used will have a negative impact on students' comprehension of reading content. Therefore, this study aims to describe the achievement of text-based reading learning, which focuses on the aspects of building text, modeling, writing texts together, and writing texts independently by Class VIII Students of SMP Global Surya, Bandar Lampung, Academic Year 2022/2023. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, in the form of a case study. The data source is in the form of text-based reading learning between teachers and students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. The data analysis technique used is the interactive model of analysis developed by Miles and Huberman. The sample in this study was 32 people, who were determined purposively, especially students who had the ability to read and write in the category of having achieved a score above the KKM (minimum completeness criteria). Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the implementation of text-based reading learning can be carried out proportionally. This is indicated by the average achievement of students' reading results in the very good category. Of the 32 students who were used as research subjects, data obtained (1) built contexts of 26 people in the very good category with details, components of "social context" (80.75%), exploration of text characteristics (81.75%), and objectives and text content (81.25%)”; (2) modeling of 26 people (81.25%) with very good category with details, components of "social context" (80.75%), exploration of text features (81.75%), and purpose and content of the text (81 .25%)”; (3) 19 people (59.38%) composed the text together in a sufficient category with details, components "systematics (60.25%), language (59.65%), and content (58.25%)"; and (4) 28 people (87.50%) composed the text independently in a very good category with details, "systematics" components (88.00%), language (86.25%), and content (88.25%)”. Keywords: Learning achievement, text-based reading, and junior high school students

Abstract

Song lyric is one of the verbal communication media that has a number of meanings. This study aims to find out the meaning of the lyrics of Cerita Rakyat through a semiotic approach and to find out what social criticism that contained in the song lyrics. The approach that used in this study is a semiotic theory approach of Roland Barthes. The method that used in this study is an interpretative qualitative research. The data source is a song by Fiersa Besari entitled Cerita Rakyat as a medium of social criticism. The data are song lyrics of Cerita Rakyat by Fiersa Besari. The data collection technique used is a literature study and observation made on the song of Cerita Rakyat. The data analysis technique used is Roland Barthes semiotic analysis tool where the aspects studied include the denotation level, connotation level, and social criticism contained in the lyrics of Cerita Rakyat. The results showed that the song lyrics by Fiersa Besari entitled Cerita Rakyat contain words with meanings of denotation, connotation, and also contain social criticism as a form of expression for what is felt. Keywords: Song Lyrics, Cerita Rakyat, Social Criticism, Semiotics.

Abstract

The research entitled "Politeness in Conversation from Fiersa Besari's Garis Waktu Film" is motivated by the occurrence of misunderstandings between speakers and speech partners, causing speech participants to feel offended by the speech received. This is because the speech participants pay less attention to matters relating to the principle of language politeness. The gap between this research and other research is that this research examines compliance and violation based on the six maxims of language politeness according to Leech and analyzes the compliance and violation from the point of view of the speech partner's acceptance as a measure of whether the speech conveyed by the speaker complies with or violates the principle of language politeness based on Yule's 'face' theory. This study aims to obtain a description of the form of compliance and violation of the principle of language politeness in the conversation of the movie Timeline by Fiersa Besari. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The researcher uses the listening method followed by the note-taking technique to collect data, while to analyze the data the researcher uses the commensurate method followed by the Pilah Elemen Penentu (PUP) technique. The result of this research shows 46 data. All data are divided into 31 data of the principle of language politeness compliance which includes maxims (1) praise, (2) generosity, (3) humility, (4) sympathy, and (5) agreement. Then 15 data of violations of the principles of language politeness which include maxims (1) praise and (2) agreement. The results of this study can be applied in class VIII learning with KD 3.16. This research only focuses on the compliance and violation of the principles of language politeness in the conversation of the movie Timeline, further researchers can develop an analysis of the causal factors and language politeness strategies. Keywords: context, form of speech, politeness principles

Abstract

This research is a literary criticism that sees women as readers or observers of Indonesian films in the pandemic era in 2020-2022. This study aims to find out how women are constructed and how the role of women in Indonesian films in the pandemic era. This research is classified as qualitative descriptive research with literature method as a data collection technique. And the content analysis method as a data analysis technique with steps including creating data tables, classifying data based on problem formulations and analyzing data based on research interpretation. The results of this study show that women obtain oppression constructed in forms of injustice that include marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, physical and non-physical violence and workload caused by the culture that has developed in society. Meanwhile, the role of women is played with an image adapted to the culture that has existed before, namely women who are only aware of the oppression carried out by the ruling class and hesitate to fight back. Keywords: Image, role, woman, pandemic era

Abstract

This study examines the inheritance of Proto-Austronesian consonant phonemes in Acehnese and Jamee languages. A qualitative descriptive method is employed, using observation and note-taking techniques for data collection. The analysis results indicate that the inheritance of consonant phonemes occurs in a linear and innovative manner, with similar distributions of phoneme changes in both languages. There are also more sporadic changes in consonant sounds. This research provides a deeper understanding of phonological evolution and interlanguage relationships within the Austronesian language family, serving as a basis for further investigations in historical linguistics. The limitations of this study include the limited data coverage restricted to Acehnese and Jamee languages, thus future research could involve other Austronesian languages and sociolinguistic factors to gain broader insights. Keywords: Inheritance, Proto-Austronesian, Acehnese, Jamee language, language evolution

Abstract

This study aims to reveal pragmatic markers and events in the comments column of Asli Suroboyo's Instagram social media account that cause new habits in PPKM level 3 information. Using structural semiotics, this study shows that: (1) image uploads that use text elements, to interpret the relationship between verbal and visual signs, and; (2) Comment uploads showing information on the impact of PPKM level 3 felt by the community Instagram account in the field of education. From the sampling process, the object of research was obtained as many as 19 uploads of comments in the realm of education which can be categorized into three, namely: speech, information and opinion. Keywords: Instagram, Pragmatic Markers, Structural Semiotics

Abstract

Pranatacara as one of the Javanese subjects has numerous benefits for students in social life, including in Kebumen Regency. Unfortunately, students frequently make language errors in maximizing their pranatacara speaking abilities, which are influenced by a region's dialect, with the ngapak dialect in Kebumen district being the subject of this research. The gap in this study lies in the difference of the pranatacara's notion where a pranatacara requires the usage of archaic language but the data generated uses krama inggil language. This study attempts to analyze phonological and morphological errors in class X students' instructional material in pranatacara practice. This research employs descriptive qualitative methods and research validation techniques to extend observations and enhance perseverance. The examination information was as hands-on practice results from 36 class X students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar, Kebumen. Data examination was finished by data decline and the results were then explained using an error investigation table. In this review, it was discovered that error in the pronunciation of the vowel "a," which transformed to the vowel "o," predominated linguistic errors in phonology and morphology. The phonological errors included the words menopo, kulo, soho, etc. while morphological errors are in the form of monggo, saengga, pramila, and other. According to study’s findings, it can be seen that a significant population in Kebumen still unable to utilize Javanese properly and correctly. Regional languages may lose their viability as a result. By conducting research, people will hopefully become more conscious of the need of preserving their native language by starting to speak using a variety of krama properly and correctly according to their regional accent. Keywords: language errors, phonology, morphology, pranatacara, Ngapak dialect

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and causal factors of bilingualism and diglossia phenomena in the conversations of characters in novel Api Tauhid. The research methodology employed is descriptive analysis, with data collection techniques including reading and recording. Data analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study identified 9 instances of bilingualism and 13 instances of diglossia in the characters' conversations. Bilingualism was found to be influenced by speakers' proficiency in multiple languages, speaker identity, as well as the location and situation of the conversation. On the other hand, diglossia was influenced by dialect differences, speaker identity, and bilingual abilities. These language phenomena in the novel highlight the integration of bilingual skills in people's lives. The implications of this study suggest that bilingualism and diglossia are prevalent language phenomena in contemporary literature, reflecting the influence of multilingualism in society. These findings emphasize the need for a greater understanding of how language choices and code-switching affect communication dynamics and cultural identity in literary works. However, this study has certain limitations, such as its focus on a specific novel and the subjective interpretation of language phenomena. Future research could expand the scope by including a broader range of literary works and employing more objective measures to analyze bilingualism and diglossia.
