Abstract

This study aims to examine the quality of meaning equivalence in Pegon translations of Lubabul Ḥadis by Jalaluddīn al-Suyuṭi using Mashadi Saʿid’s translation framework. Pegon has historically functioned as an essential medium of Islamic literacy in Javanese pesantren, enabling access to Arabic religious texts through localized translation. However, previous studies indicate that lexical archaism, literal translation strategies, and socio-linguistic change have reduced Pegon’s semantic accessibility for contemporary santri. This research employs a qualitative library research design based on close reading and comparative textual analysis of Arabic and Pegon texts. Data were analyzed using Mashadi Saʿid’s criteria of accuracy, clarity, naturalness, and dynamic equivalence. The findings show that Pegon originally functioned as an epistemic and pedagogical bridge but is increasingly weakened by obsolete vocabulary. Pegon translations largely maintain semantic accuracy but often lack clarity and naturalness due to rigid Arabic syntactic calques. In addition, socio-cultural and generational shifts reduce the ethical and communicative impact of Pegon-translated hadith teachings. This study contributes to Islamic philology by integrating modern translation theory into Pegon studies and highlights translation quality as a key issue in pesantren literacy. It recommends adaptive strategies such as contextual glossaries and annotated translations to revitalize Pegon’s pedagogical relevance.

Abstract

Errors in writing speech texts reflect a lack of understanding of IMLA rules and can affect the quality of the delivered speech. This study aims to describe the types of imla’iyyah errors and evaluate their occurrence in the writing of Arabic speech texts at PORSENI (Sports and Arts Week) at KKMT 01 Gresik in 2025. This research employs a qualitative method with an analytical study type through the imla’ approach. Documentation was used as the data collection method, with 31 speech texts obtained from Google Drive serving as the primary data source. The data analysis technique follows Corder’s theory, which includes collecting error data, identifying and classifying errors, and explaining and evaluating them. The results of this study are: (1) errors in writing hamzah washal and qatha’ occurred 32 times (52%), errors in the addition of the letter “al” were found 15 times (24%), errors in writing mad occurred 6 times (9%), errors in adding and omitting letters were found 5 times (8%), letter substitution errors occurred once (2%), and letter connection errors occurred 3 times (5%). (2) The suggested evaluation includes improving understanding of imla’ rules, increasing practice in writing and spelling words correctly, comprehending and applying mad writing rules properly, and enhancing typing skills.

Abstract

The yellow book learning method has a fundamental role in the Islamic boarding school education system in Indonesia because it is the main means of mastering the treasures of classical Islamic science. One of the methods that is famously used is the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum Method from Sidogiri Islamic boadhing school, which is present as a learning innovation that offers a systematic approach in improving the ability to read classical Arabic texts without harakat. This study aims to analyze the development of scientific studies related to the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum Method using a bibliometric analysis approach. Data were collected from Google Scholar and Garuda databases through the keywords "Al-Miftah Lil Ulum Method", "yellow book", "Sidogiri Islamic boarding school", and "yellow book reading method" in the 2012–2025 publication year. The analysis was conducted with the help of Publish or Perish and VOSviewer software to examine publication trends, citation rates, author collaboration, and keyword linkage mapping. The results of the analysis show a significant increase in the number of publications since 2018, with the peak of research occurring in the 2021–2023 period. The dominant themes include the implementation of the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum Method in Islamic boarding schools, its influence on students' ability to read the yellow book, and Islamic boarding school learning innovations. These findings confirm that the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum Method has developed from a local practice to a focus of national academic studies that is relevant to the development of Islamic educational pedagogy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation and impact of a Qur’an-based integrated curriculum in strengthening Islamic financial literacy among santri in a pesantren within a Muslim minority context. The separation between Islamic ethical teachings and everyday economic practices has contributed to financial vulnerability, consumptive behavior, and weak ethical decision-making among Muslim youth, particularly where access to Islamic financial institutions is limited. Using a qualitative Participatory Action Research (PAR) design, data were collected through observations, interviews, focus group discussions, pre- and post-tests, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically with methodological triangulation. The findings reveal three key results. First, students demonstrated low Islamic financial literacy, marked by ritualistic understanding, the normalization of debt, and susceptibility to social media–driven consumerism. Second, the Qur’an-based integrated learning model effectively enhanced students’ conceptual clarity and ethical awareness by connecting scriptural values, reflective practices, and contextual economic cases. Third, the intervention produced sustained transformations in values, attitudes, and behaviors, including ethical caution toward debt, responsible financial choices, and adaptive community-based economic strategies. The study contributes theoretically by translating the unity of knowledge into applied curriculum practice and practically by offering a replicable model for pesantren-based economic empowerment. Future studies should employ longitudinal designs to assess the durability of behavioral change.

Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of marriage anxiety among Generation Z and Millennials in Indonesia. This concern has become increasingly relevant amid modern social, cultural, and religious shifts. The research aims to understand the factors influencing young people’s perceptions of marriage, including economic instability, digital media influence, and evolving gender roles, and to propose a reinterpretation of Islamic family law to address contemporary concerns. Findings reveal that financial pressures, lack of religious education, societal expectations, and the influence of social media contribute significantly to the fear of marriage. Additionally, the study highlights the need for a more flexible and equitable approach to marital readiness, with a focus on emotional, social, and financial preparedness. Employing a normative qualitative research method, the study combines sociological and Islamic legal perspectives to offer a comprehensive understanding of marriage anxiety. The research concludes that addressing these fears through a blend of cultural, religious, and socioeconomic support can foster healthier perceptions of marriage and promote its value in modern society. The study contributes to the renewal of marriage concepts, ensuring their relevance in contemporary Indonesia.

Abstract

This study comparatively examines the educational management perspectives of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and Michael Fullan to formulate an integrative framework that responds to contemporary educational challenges shaped by globalisation, digital transformation, and socio-cultural change. Employing a qualitative library research design, the study analyses the primary works of both thinkers alongside relevant secondary literature, using a descriptive-comparative analysis. The findings indicate that al-Attas provides a robust moral and epistemological foundation through the concepts of Islamization of knowledge and ta’dib, positioning ethical and spiritual character formation as the core objective of education. In contrast, Fullan offers a systemic and practice-oriented model of educational innovation grounded in transformational leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Despite their differing philosophical foundations, both perspectives converge on the centrality of moral purpose in sustaining meaningful and long-term educational change. The study argues that integrating al-Attas’s value-based educational philosophy with Fullan’s innovation-driven management approach enables educational institutions, particularly within Islamic contexts, to adapt to modern reforms without compromising ethical integrity, thereby fostering holistic, adaptive, and sustainable educational management models.

Abstract

This study explores how Islamic education managers experience and manage complexity and ambiguity in the era of digital disruption through reflective, value-based practices. Digital transformation has intensified tensions between technological adaptation and the preservation of Islamic ethical and spiritual foundations within educational governance. These tensions often manifest as policy uncertainty, generational gaps, and challenges in aligning technology with institutional identity. This research adopts a qualitative phenomenological design and is conducted in selected Islamic boarding schools, using in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analysed through iterative processes of data condensation, thematic display, and verification to capture the essence of managerial lived experiences. The findings reveal that value-based management grounded in tauhid, amanah, justice, and maslahah provides a stable framework for navigating uncertainty. Curriculum integration and human resource management emerge as ongoing epistemological and axiological negotiations rather than fixed administrative procedures. Musyawarah and philosophical reflection function as central adaptive mechanisms, enabling collective sense-making, ethical deliberation, and contextual responses to digital challenges. Technology is positioned as a supportive means for education and da‘wah, not as a determinant of institutional direction. This study contributes by reconceptualising Islamic education management as an interpretive and ethical practice and recommends strengthening reflective leadership and dialogical governance to sustain adaptive capacity.

Abstract

This study examines how a madrasah principal practices transformational–relational leadership in managing multigenerational teachers and the implications for teacher performance and institutional achievement. Generational diversity among teachers increasingly influences organizational dynamics through differences in work values, communication styles, and professional expectations. In Islamic educational institutions, these challenges are further shaped by the integration of managerial practices with religious and moral values. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at MI Al-Inayah Kota Bandung to capture in-depth leadership practices within a specific multigenerational context. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques supported by data triangulation. The findings show that transformational–relational leadership functions as a foundational mechanism for aligning teachers across generations through shared vision, relational trust, and psychological safety. Leadership practices emphasizing empathy, role modeling, and inclusive communication enable the constructive management of generational differences. Competency-based and collaborative strategies support effective role distribution, cross-generational collaboration, and mutual learning. These practices contribute to increased teacher motivation, strong professional loyalty, low turnover, and sustained achievement in madrasahs. This study extends transformational leadership discourse in a multigenerational Islamic education context and offers practical leadership strategies for managing generational diversity.

Abstract

The increasing spread of digital da’wah based on takfiri doctrine has threatened the religious stability and social cohesion of Muslims in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the role of kyais' charismatic authority in building digital resistance against takfiri radicalism in Indonesia's networked society. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with kyais, students, media managers, and congregations; observations of Islamic boarding school activities; and documentation in the form of da’wah archives and digital publications from an Islamic boarding school that actively promotes Islamic moderation. The findings indicate that (1) the charisma of the kyai's knowledge dampens the effects of algorithmic radical content because the congregation trusts the kyai's explanations more than extreme digital narratives, (2) Islamic boarding school moderation shifts the congregation's religious discourse style from takfiri rhetoric to peaceful dialogue, and (3) the sanad of knowledge forms ideological resilience so that the congregation feels confident in the source of moderate teachings. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of charismatic authority and digital resistance as a model of deradicalization based on Islamic moderation. The implication is that Islamic boarding schools should expand their digital da’wah by emphasizing the charisma of their knowledge and sanad (traditional Islamic lineage), thereby strengthening the effectiveness of Islamic moderation in both online and offline spaces.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness of digital student allowance cards in strengthening financial discipline and transparency in Islamic boarding schools. Financial management in Islamic boarding schools has traditionally relied on cash-based systems that are difficult to monitor and prone to inefficiency. This practice creates a mismatch between character education goals and students’ everyday financial behavior. This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. Data were collected from 50 students through structured questionnaires measuring financial discipline, expenditure control, perceptions of transparency, and monitoring awareness, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired difference tests. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students’ financial discipline after the implementation of digital allowance cards. Students demonstrated reduced impulsive spending and greater awareness of spending limits. The system also enhanced students’ ability to plan expenditures more responsibly. In addition, perceptions of transparency and accountability in financial management increased substantially. Monitoring awareness improved as students became more conscious of recorded transactions. These results suggest that digital allowance cards function not merely as administrative instruments but as mechanisms of behavioral regulation. This study contributes to the literature by positioning digital financial systems as tools of moral governance in Islamic education. It recommends that Islamic boarding schools and policymakers integrate technology-based financial systems aligned with the values of character education.
