Abstract

Infant motor development is a stage of motor development appropriate to a baby's age and principles. If the basic motor stages are not completed, the baby lacks basic motor concepts, resulting in a lack of awareness of functional movement. Limited motor time, excessive parental supervision, and insufficient motivation and stimulation can lead to delays. Tummy time is one form of stimulation that can be provided to enhance infant development. The benefits of tummy time in improving infant motor development include prone or back positions, rolling, and crawling. This Community Service (PKM) activity was conducted in the physioroom clinic with 15 mothers of babies aged 3-6 months participating. The PkM included outreach, demonstrations, discussions, and a question-and-answer session. Mothers' knowledge of tummy time was determined using pre- and post-tests. The PkM results showed that tummy time can influence infant motor development, with average pre- and post-test scores of 6.4 and 8.6, respectively. This demonstrates that this PkM activity successfully increased mothers' knowledge about tummy time and infant motor development. Keywords: Mother, Baby, Motor Skills, Tummy Time.)

Abstract

Children with special needs require structured support, particularly in executive function domains such as attention regulation, which play a crucial role in learning and adaptive behavior. However, many parents still have limited understanding and skills in providing appropriate developmental stimulation. This community engagement program aimed to enhance parental capacity in facilitating executive function development among children with special needs at Pelangi Indonesia Homeschooling Yogyakarta. A participatory approach was applied, including needs assessment through interviews, program design, validation with educators, and structured training implementation. The intervention focused on practical attention training using visual and auditory exercises. The results showed a consistent improvement in parents’ understanding and caregiving skills, supported by significant differences between pre- and post-training scores. Observational findings also indicated more structured, consistent, and responsive parenting practices. These findings suggest that parent-based interventions are effective in strengthening executive function stimulation in home learning contexts. This program highlights the importance of empowering parents as primary agents in supporting the developmental outcomes of children with special needs.

Abstract

Hypertension is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it generally develops without clear symptoms, despite posing serious risks to public health. The condition affects communities in many countries, including Indonesia and Maluku Province, highlighting the need for continuous health promotion and preventive interventions. This community outreach initiative was conducted in Seruawan Village, Kairatu District, with the aim of improving residents’ knowledge, increasing awareness, and encouraging behavioral changes related to hypertension prevention. The activity consisted of three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 37 residents participated actively and enthusiastically throughout the program. Educational materials covered hypertension risk factors, early detection, healthy lifestyles, and preventive practices. Evaluation results showed a substantial increase in participants’ knowledge. Before the educational session, only 16.2% of residents demonstrated a good level of understanding, whereas after the intervention, this proportion increased to 81.1%. These findings indicate that structured health education effectively strengthens community understanding and supports sustainable preventive behavior against hypertension.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness in urban areas remains an important issue because it affects both public health and the quality of daily life. However, the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) continues to face various challenges, particularly due to limited public awareness and community involvement in maintaining environmental hygiene. This Community Service Program was conducted in Wijaya Kusuma Village, Grogol Petamburan District, with the aim of strengthening environmental cleanliness education through the development of community human resources based on PHBS principles. The program adopted a participatory approach consisting of field observations, educational sessions, interactive discussions, and community clean-up activities. Data were collected through direct observation, activity documentation, and participants' responses throughout the implementation of the program. The findings indicate that the community responded positively to the entire series of activities, as reflected by greater involvement in environmental clean-up efforts and increased attention to the application of PHBS in daily life. Furthermore, active community participation fostered stronger collaboration among residents and encouraged a shared commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. Therefore, participatory PHBS-based education can serve as an effective strategy for promoting environmental health and encouraging sustainable healthy living practices within the community.

Abstract

A totem is one of the visual identity elements that can strengthen the character of a public space while supporting the delivery of information to the community. This community service program aimed to design and implement a totem as a local landmark and public information medium at Simpang Lima Keputih, Surabaya, which is part of the community development area of Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS). The program was conducted through several stages, including preparation, field survey, design development, physical implementation, and evaluation. A participatory approach was applied by involving village officials, district authorities, relevant government agencies, a professional vendor, students, and local residents throughout the planning and installation processes. The program produced one totem unit equipped with acrylic letter signage displaying the word “KEPUTIH,” a bamboo logo representing a local symbol, an integrated lighting system, and a running LED display for the dynamic delivery of public information. Observation results indicated that the totem functioned as a visual landmark and improved the visibility of Simpang Lima Keputih’s identity, particularly at night. Collaboration among PENS, local government authorities, project partners, students, and the community supported the design validation, production, installation, and evaluation processes. The completed totem also provides opportunities for further development of public information media through the integration of digital technology and visual communication design.

Abstract

The Community Service College Program (KPM) is a form of student service aimed at making a real contribution to solving problems in the community. One of the issues found at the KPM site is the community's low awareness of keeping the environment clean due to limited trash disposal facilities. This activity aims to raise community awareness about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness through the distribution of trash bins. The method used is descriptive with a participatory approach, which includes observation, problem identification program implementation, and evaluation of the activity results. The results show that providing trash bins makes it easier for the community to dispose of garbage properly and encourages greater awareness of keeping the environment clean. This program has also received positive responses from the community because it is considered capable of supporting the creation of a cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable environment. In addition, this activity is expected to foster the habit of disposing of trash properly, increase community participation in maintaining public facilities, and create a culture of sustainable environmental care for all residents. Therefore, distributing trash bins is a simple yet effective effort to boost community participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness sustainably.

Abstract

Delayed recovery of motor function following spinal anesthesia may prolong recovery room stay and delay early mobilization. Passive Range of Motion (ROM) is a simple non-pharmacological intervention that may accelerate motor recovery. To describe the implementation of passive ROM in accelerating Bromage Score recovery among patients after spinal anesthesia at Rumah Sakit Khusus Bedah Jatiwinangun Purwokerto. This community service program involved 30 postoperative spinal anesthesia patients who met the inclusion criteria. Activities included patient education, assessment of Bromage Score before intervention, passive ROM implementation for 5–10 minutes, and post-intervention evaluation. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distribution. Most participants were 17–45 years old (76.7%), male (60%), classified as ASA I (66.7%), received 10 mg hyperbaric bupivacaine (46.6%), and had no previous surgical history (66.7%). Before intervention, all participants had Bromage Score 3 (100%). Following passive ROM, 60% achieved Bromage Score 1, with an average recovery time of 41 minutes. Passive ROM is a practical, safe, and feasible intervention that may accelerate motor recovery after spinal anesthesia and support early postoperative mobilization.

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety is a common psychological reaction in patients preparing for surgery, especially for those receiving spinal anesthesia, since they stay aware during the operation. Uncontrolled anxiety can adversely impact hemodynamic stability, raise anesthetic needs, and prolong postoperative recovery. Surah Ar-Rahman murottal therapy has arisen as a non-drug intervention that encourages relaxation and mental well-being. This research focused on assessing variations in preoperative anxiety levels after the application of Surah Ar-Rahman murottal therapy in individuals receiving spinal anesthesia. This community service initiative utilized an implementation method that involved a pretest–posttest framework with 30 elective surgical patients at RST Wijaya Kusuma Purwokerto from February to April 2026. Anxiety was assessed with the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Participants listened to a 10-minute audio rendition of Surah Ar-Rahman prior to surgery. Before the intervention, the majority of participants suffered from moderate anxiety (46.7%). After the intervention, most participants indicated mild anxiety (63.3%), 20.0% had no anxiety, and none were classified as severely anxious. The application of Surah Ar-Rahman murottal therapy significantly minimized preoperative anxiety and could act as a safe, supplementary non-drug approach in perioperative anesthesia nursing care.
