Abstract

Household organic waste management remains a significant environmental challenge in Bangunrejo Kidul Village, Kedunggalar District, Ngawi Regency, where open burning is still widely practiced due to limited knowledge of sustainable waste management. This community service program aimed to enhance community awareness, knowledge, and practical skills in utilizing household organic waste through the production of eco-enzyme as an environmentally friendly and multifunctional product. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving observation, planning, counseling, demonstrations, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The activities were conducted by the 28th Community Service Program (KKN) students of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya in collaboration with local residents, village officials, and community health volunteers across several hamlets. The findings indicated that participants gained a better understanding of household organic waste management, successfully learned the eco-enzyme production process using the 1:3:10 ratio of molasses, organic waste, and water, and demonstrated the ability to independently apply the production techniques. The combination of educational sessions, demonstrations, and direct practice encouraged active community participation and strengthened environmental awareness. Furthermore, the program introduced eco-enzyme as a sustainable alternative for reducing organic waste burning while providing practical benefits as an organic fertilizer, natural pesticide, livestock sanitation agent, and multipurpose cleaning solution. These outcomes suggest that participatory community empowerment can promote sustainable household waste management and support environmentally responsible agricultural and livestock practices in rural communities

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a developmental effort aimed at children from birth to six years old, a period known as the golden age of child development. The success of the learning process at this stage greatly depends on the quality of assistance provided by the adults around the child. This community service activity aimed to assist early childhood children in creating a fun learning environment through a collage-making activity. The activity involved 10 young children at Kober Peupado Malanuza on April 20, 2026, for one lesson hour, facilitated by students of the PG-PAUD Study Program, STKIP Citra Bakti, through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The assistance was carried out through a play-based learning approach, positive communication, and the provision of engaging media. The results show that the children were enthusiastic, willing to try, and confident in presenting their work, creating a safe and enjoyable learning atmosphere, with no children refusing to participate in the activity. Thus, appropriate assistance through play activities becomes an important foundation in optimizing early childhood growth and development, and parents and teachers are recommended to actively contribute to creating a fun learning environment for children.

Abstract

The consumption of sugar-sweetened packaged beverages among adolescents continues to increase along with changes in lifestyle and dietary patterns. Limited knowledge regarding artificial sweeteners, recommended intake limits, and the potential health risks of excessive consumption may contribute to unhealthy beverage choices. This community service program aimed to improve students' knowledge of artificial sweeteners in packaged beverages through health education at SMP IT Citra Ummat, Tidore Islands City. The program involved 67 seventh- and eighth-grade students and was implemented through interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, supported by PowerPoint presentations, educational banners, and leaflets. Knowledge was assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that 33 students (49.3%) experienced increased knowledge scores, 23 students (34.3%) showed no change, and 11 students (16.4%) had decreased scores. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (Z = -3.500; p = 0.000), indicating that the educational intervention effectively improved students' knowledge regarding artificial sweeteners in packaged beverages. The program also enhanced students' awareness of the importance of reading nutrition facts and ingredient labels before purchasing packaged beverages. Health education can therefore serve as an effective promotive strategy to improve food safety literacy among adolescents.

Abstract

The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) provides opportunities for MSMEs to improve content creativity, branding, and digital marketing. However, limited digital literacy and skills remain major challenges. This community engagement program aimed to improve the ability of MSME actors in Boja District to utilize GenAI for marketing activities. The program employed needs identification, training, hands-on practice, and mentoring. Participants were trained to use GenAI to develop prompts, promotional captions, content ideas, taglines, and content plans. The results indicated improved participants’ knowledge and skills in utilizing GenAI for content development, branding, and digital marketing. The program also encouraged the emergence of potential local digital champions who can share knowledge with other MSME actors. Therefore, integrating GenAI literacy, content development, branding, and digital marketing through practical training and mentoring can serve as an effective empowerment strategy for MSMEs in the digital transformation era.
