Abstract

This study investigates how Islamic education policies at Darush Sholihin 2 Islamic Boarding School are shaped by political, social, and cultural forces in a local context. While national regulations set standardized curricular and accreditation requirements, pesantren traditions and community expectations drive contextual adaptation. A qualitative case-study approach was used. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews with the kyai, bu nyai, teachers, and local education officials; non-participant observations of classes and dormitory life; and analysis of policy documents. Thematic coding and triangulation enhanced validity. Darush Sholihin 2 formally implements Ministry of Religious Affairs standards yet embeds regional wisdom—local language, artisanal crafts, and indigenous moral frameworks—into its pedagogy. Three key factors influence this implementation: (1) the kyai and bu nyai’s leadership in negotiating curriculum adaptations; (2) supportive yet flexible local government oversight; and (3) pressures to modernize through e-learning and standardized assessments, which prompt hybrid educational strategies. Findings reveal that policy enactment at Darush Sholihin 2 emerges from continuous negotiation among state authorities, religious leaders, and globalization pressures, rather than top-down imposition. This negotiated model strengthens cultural relevance, stakeholder engagement, and institutional resilience. For policymakers and pesantren administrators, granting structured flexibility enables innovation without compromising tradition.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is that bibliometrics is important to review the existing literature on educational management in Christian religious education. Through this approach, it is expected to identify trends, knowledge gaps, and potential solutions that can be proposed as new innovations in improving the effectiveness of educational management in Christian religious education. This innovative solution is expected to be the foundation for the development of Christian religious education that is more holistic and relevant to the demands of the times. This study uses a bibliometric approach to describe and analyze literature related to Christian educational management. The research population includes all literature related to the database. The research sample is focused on the last 5 years (2020-2024) and only on journal articles. The data collection process begins with the identification stage using the keyword "Christian Education Management". The analysis was carried out using VOSviewer software to identify main topics, mark relationships between topics, and find research trends. The results of the study are presented in the form of tables, graphs, and narratives, which provide an overview of the landscape of Christian educational management research. The bibliometric analysis strategy is explicitly Co-occurrence, Co-authorship, Co-itation, Bibliographic couple. The selection of Dimension AI was made because this database has a wide coverage and open access, including literature that may not be indexed in Scopus or WoS. The results showed that despite the differences in numbers, the main topics and keywords were similar, indicating that Dimension AI is quite representative for the purpose of this study. Analysis using VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel showed significant fluctuations in the number of publications on Christian religious education management from 2020 to 2024, with the highest peak occurring in 2022, reflecting a positive trend in research interest in this field.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of physical condition and concentration on short-serve performance in badminton among elementary school students. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach, involving two independent variables, physical condition and concentration, and one dependent variable, short-serve performance. The study was conducted in an elementary school setting with a population of all students, and simple random sampling technique using the lottery method was applied to select 30 students as sample. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple correlation techniques via SPSS, with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results reveal three key findings: (1) Physical condition has a statistically significant relationship with short-serve performance (r = 0.828; p < 0.05), accounting for 68.5% of the performance variation. (2) Concentration also shows a significant effect (r = 0.843; p < 0.05), contributing 71.1%. (3) When combined, physical condition and concentration have a significant joint contribution to short-serve performance (R = 0.871; p = 0.031 < 0.05), explaining 75.8% of the variance. The analysis indicates the probability of these results occurring by chance is low, and therefore, the influence of the variables is considered reliable and meaningful in a statistical sense. These findings highlight the importance of both physical readiness and mental focus in improving badminton skills at the elementary level. Future research is recommended to explore additional factors, such as coaching methods or motivation, that may also impact badminton performance, and to expand the study to a larger and more diverse student population.

Abstract

The implementation of music education at the Indonesian School of Bangkok (Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok/ SIB) plays a significant role in fostering students' cognitive and artistic development, while also contributing to the preservation and promotion of Indonesian culture abroad. This qualitative study, employing an autoethnographic approach, aims to describe the music education practices at SIB, focusing on the materials taught, the teaching methods used, and the impact of these practices on cultural diplomacy. Through various traditional Indonesian musical instruments such as angklung, kolintang, cethik, and gamelan, students are not only taught technical music skills but also the cultural values embedded in each instrument and its repertoire. Methods such as demonstration, drill, Kodály, experiential learning, and discussion are applied to ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding of music. Additionally, through cultural performances, students can introduce Indonesian music to the Thai public and international audiences, enhancing Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy. The study highlights how music education at SIB serves as both an educational tool and a medium for cultural exchange, promoting Indonesian arts and strengthening cultural ties between Indonesia and the global community.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the use of design-based learning (DBL) as well as measure its impact on the creativity of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) study program students. Creativity is one of the 21st century competencies that is believed to act as a catalyst for the development of other competencies such as character, citizenship, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. This article is written based on research at IAIN Kediri, especially in the IRE study program. A mixed method with a convergent design was chosen to guide the operationalization of this research. Qualitative data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation on the implementation of DBL in IRE Learning Innovation lectures. Meanwhile, quantitative-descriptive data based on product assessment was maximized to categorize student creativity after the implementation of DBL. Student creativity is measured by divergent thinking, originality of ideas, perseverance, and intellectual risk-taking. This article concludes that DBL is implemented with several steps such as providing assignments, setting criteria, completing challenges, and evaluating innovative products. The application of DBL has implications for student creativity, where 53,03% of students are in the very creative category, 30,3% of students are in the creative category. There are still 16,67% of students who are in the average category, but that is more due to the limited ability of students to access digital resources.

Abstract

Islamic character education is a fundamental pillar in shaping a morally upright generation amid the challenges of value globalization. This study aims to examine the strategies for instilling Islamic character values implemented at Pesantren Manbaul Hikam, Bangkalan, Madura. The main focus of this research is to identify the approaches and educational methods used by pesantren to embed Islamic character values for students (santri). This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the strategies for Islamic character education at Pesantren Manbaul Hikam are carried out through the integration of exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), habitual Islamic practices in daily life, and classical Islamic text learning (kitab kuning) which emphasizes moral teachings. Moreover, the conducive boarding school environment and the close relationship between the kiai (Islamic teacher) and the students enhance the internalization of core character values such as honesty, responsibility, simplicity, and obedience. In conclusion, Islamic character education at Pesantren Manbaul Hikam is not merely cognitive or affective, but also practical through a consistently cultivated culture of daily life. This strategy demonstrates that traditional pesantren can serve as a relevant and adaptive model for Islamic character education in the face of modern societal dynamics.
