Abstract

Violence against women (VAW) is a global issue rooted in historical, social, and cultural structures. This study critically examines the causes, impacts, and responses to VAW through feminist perspectives, legal frameworks, and social movements. It explores how gender-based violence persists due to patriarchal norms, economic disparities, and systemic inequalities. Additionally, the research highlights how religious interpretations influence perceptions of gender roles, with a particular focus on Islamic education. From an Islamic perspective, VAW contradicts the principles of justice, equality, and compassion embedded in the Qur’an and Hadith. However, cultural misinterpretations often obscure these teachings, leading to practices that perpetuate gender-based oppression. Islamic education plays a crucial role in shaping societal attitudes by promoting gender justice and educating communities about women’s rights. Through an inclusive and holistic curriculum, Islamic educational institutions can challenge patriarchal norms and cultivate a culture of non-violence. This study emphasizes that combating VAW requires a multidimensional approach, integrating legal measures, social interventions, and educational strategies. Strengthening Islamic education as a means of fostering ethical awareness and respect for women’s rights can contribute significantly to reducing violence and promoting gender equity.

Abstract

Differentiated instruction, which tailors learning experiences based on students’ readiness, interests, and prior knowledge, has been identified as an effective approach to fostering self-regulated learning. This study aims to analyze the impact of differentiated instruction based on prior knowledge on students' self-regulated learning, focusing on its benefits, challenges, and potential solutions for effective implementation. A systematic literature review was conducted using major academic databases, applying PRISMA guidelines for article selection. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key themes related to prior knowledge, differentiated instruction, and self-regulated learning. The findings indicate that differentiated instruction based on prior knowledge positively contributes to the development of students' self-regulated learning, metacognitive skills, self-efficacy, and intrinsic motivation. However, challenges such as limited teacher training, time constraints, and lack of institutional support hinder its implementation. Various strategies, including professional learning communities (PLCs), dynamic assessment, and adaptive technology, have been proposed to address these issues. The study concludes that strengthening teacher training programs, fostering collaboration among educators, and leveraging technology are essential to optimizing the implementation of differentiated instruction based on prior knowledge. Future research should explore its application across different educational levels and subject areas to enhance its effectiveness in diverse learning contexts.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic-based elementary schools presents both opportunities and challenges in balancing hard skills and soft skills while preserving Islamic educational values. This qualitative case study explores how AI supports religious education, ethical development, and STEM learning in two Islamic schools in Gresik, East Java. Using semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, the study examines the impact of AI on teacher-student interactions, personalized learning, and character formation. The findings indicate that AI enhances Quranic learning, ethical discussions, and academic proficiency by providing adaptive feedback, interactive learning tools, and automated assessments. However, while AI improves hard skills development, it requires additional pedagogical strategies to cultivate soft skills such as ethical reasoning, leadership, and communication. Educators emphasized that AI must complement rather than replace traditional teacher-led instruction to maintain the spiritual and moral aspects of Islamic education. Despite its benefits, AI implementation in Islamic schools faces several challenges, including technological infrastructure limitations, teacher readiness, and ethical concerns related to AI alignment with Islamic principles. The study highlights the importance of contextual AI customization, comprehensive teacher training, and ethical AI governance to ensure effective and culturally appropriate AI adoption. This study contributes to the growing discourse on AI in religious education and offers policy recommendations for integrating AI into Islamic curricula while maintaining the integrity of faith-based education. Future research should explore long-term impacts of AI on moral education, cross-cultural AI adoption, and strategies for ethical AI governance in faith-based learning environments.
