Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of developing a Catholic Child Faith Development curriculum that is relevant to the needs of child development in the digital era and a pluralistic society, especially in St. Peter Parish Palembang. This research aims to analyze the needs of curriculum development with the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) approach. The aspects measured include: the relevance of teaching materials, the effectiveness of learning methods, the availability of meaningful learning media, and the level of stakeholder participation in curriculum planning. The method used was a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach through the FDM technique, involving a panel of experts consisting of pastors, children's faith companions, parents, and church leaders. The results showed that most of the indicators had not reached the optimal level of consensus, especially in the aspects of learning methods and media that were considered less interactive and not contextualized with the development of today's children. Stakeholder participation is also still limited. In conclusion, the development of an FDM-based curriculum is a strategic step to produce a curriculum that is more innovative, contextual, and collaborative, and is able to answer the challenges of children's faith development in a more inclusive and targeted manner.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant influence of giving feedback on improving the descriptive writing ability of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Hu'u, Dompu, Indonesia. This study used a quantitative method with an experimental design of 20 students who were divided into experimental and control groups. In this study, the results of the pre-test showed that 65% of students obtained scores below 70. After providing feedback, the percentage of students who scored above 70 increased to 85%. To calculate the student score data, the researchers used a paired sample t-test that showed a significant improvement (p = 0.001) with a correlation value of 0.662. An analysis of the effect size yielded a Cohen value d = -1.602, indicating a large effect of the intervention. In addition, questionnaire data showed that more than 80% of students responded positively to feedback, and observations showed an improvement in students' understanding of the structure and language features of descriptive texts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and describe a prototype of a children’s literature E-module utilizing Google Workspace for Education to improve reading literacy among fifth-grade elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology using the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The study involved 23 fifth-grade students from SD Inpres Mandalle. Data collection instruments included expert validation sheets, observation forms, and questionnaires to assess the module’s practicality and effectiveness. The findings reveal that: (1) the developed E-module prototype achieved high feasibility, with expert validation scores ranging from 93% to 95%; (2) its practicality was rated very good by both teachers and students, with scores of 97% to 98%; (3) its effectiveness was evidenced by a consistent increase in students’ reading literacy scores across sessions, rising from 63 in the first session to 84 in the third session; and (4) the module significantly enhanced students’ engagement, interest, and reading literacy skills. Overall, the study concludes that the children’s literature E-module based on Google Workspace for Education is a valid, highly feasible, practical, and effective instructional tool to support literacy development in elementary education.

Abstract

Islamic education not only requires mastery of Islamic material but also good social skills, especially for prospective PAI (Islamic education) teachers who will become role models in society. In this context, campus preaching organizations play a strategic role in shaping the social competencies of leaders of LDK (campus preaching institution), particularly for PAI students. This research aims to determine the role of LDK Al-Izzah in shaping the social competencies of prospective PAI teachers, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the process of developing the personality competencies of prospective PAI teachers. This research was carried out using qualitative methods with a case study approach. The research subjects included the general chairman, general secretary, general treasurer, cadres, and alumni of LDK who have become PAI teachers. Data collection techniques in this study included observation, interviews, and documentation study. The results indicate that the role of LDK in shaping social competencies has been running quite well, although LDK has not yet provided. It can be concluded that the role of LDK in forming the social competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers is in the form of programs that have been designed such as mentoring, community service.

Abstract

Scientific literacy skills are important in science learning, but the scientific literacy skills of students in Indonesia are still relatively low based on the results of PISA 2022. Scientific literacy skills can be improved through the integration of socio-scientific issues in learning and scientific literacy knowledge can be measured through student argumentation. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the relationship between scientific literacy skills and students' argumentation through discussions of socio-scientific issues on the concept of viruses. The research method used was the pre-experimental designs method using one-shot case study and correlational techniques. The total sample used was 53 students with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection in this study used tests in the form of scientific literacy questions and argumentation skills questions. The results of the study showed a relationship between scientific literacy skills and argumentation through discussions of socio-scientific issues on the concept of viruses with a significance value of 0.017 which indicates a significant relationship and a correlation coefficient of 0.327 which means the strength of the correlation is in the sufficient category. The average scientific literacy ability of students is 66.65 which is included in the moderate category and argumentation skills are at level 3.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the teacher’s role in utilizing audiovisual media to improve the learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SD Inpres Tulo in Bahasa Indonesia lessons. A descriptive qualitative method was used, employing observation, interviews, and documentation to collect data. The results indicate that audiovisual media significantly enhance students’ cognitive abilities (understanding texts and story structures), affective aspects (learning motivation and positive attitudes), and psychomotor skills (short story writing). Teachers act as designers, facilitators, and evaluators by integrating videos, animations, and audio recordings into lessons, which create an engaging and interactive classroom atmosphere. The average percentage of students who understand narrative structures increased from 40% to 75%, while active participation in discussions rose from 30% to 65%. However, several challenges remain, such as limited facilities and teachers’ technical readiness. The study concludes that well-planned integration of audiovisual media, supported by quality materials and teacher training, can optimize learning outcomes in Bahasa Indonesia. These findings highlight the importance of innovative teaching strategies to meet students’ diverse needs in the modern learning environment. The study suggests continuous improvement in media quality and technical support to overcome existing obstacles and maximize the positive impact on students’ academic performance.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for students to face 21st-century challenges. This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing Interactive Digital Worksheets (IDWs) through the Nearpod platform on improving critical thinking abilities among fifth-grade students at SD Islam Ruhama. A quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design—specifically the Nonequivalent Control Group Design—was employed. The sample consisted of 39 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using essay-type questions based on Ennis’ FRISCO framework, which had been validated and tested for reliability. An Independent Sample T-Test revealed a significant difference in post-test scores between the two groups, with a p-value less than 0.05. The effect size was calculated at 0.94572, indicating a high magnitude of influence. These results suggest that IDWs have a substantial positive impact on students’ critical thinking development. Therefore, integrating IDWs via Nearpod can serve as an effective instructional strategy aligned with 21st-century learning competencies.

Abstract

Chemical bonds are a concept that is often considered abstract by students because of the limitations of direct experience to understand the occurrence of chemical bonds. This research developed a Student Worksheet (LKPD) assisted by Augmented Reality (AR) media that allows students to see and understand the shape of chemical bonds in 3D animation. The development process of this LKPD follows the modified Research and Development (R&D) method of Borg and Gall, consisting of three stages: preliminary study, development, and testing. The results of the validation test get a ≥4 mode which means that it is practical from the validation sheet. The results of the practicality test obtained percentages of 80% and 90%, meaning practical and very practical, based on student response questionnaires and student observation sheets. The results of the effectiveness test showed that a significant value of 0.000 was less than 0.05 indicating a significant average difference in student learning outcomes. Research shows that the use of LKPD assisted by AR media can improve students' learning outcomes on chemical bonding materials.

Abstract

Reading aloud is a very important skill for elementary school students. This study aims to (1) analyze the reading-aloud strategy implemented by teachers in the school and (2) determine the impact of implementing the reading-aloud strategy on students’ reading interest. The research was conducted at SDN 4 Kore in Grade 5, with a total of 14 students. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, and questionnaires distributed to all 14 students as respondents. The observation results showed that the teacher consistently applied the read-aloud strategy in Indonesian language instruction in an engaging way—using varied intonation, facial expressions, and involving students in discussions after reading. The interviews confirmed that students felt happier learning when the teacher read aloud, as it helped them understand the story content more easily. Additionally, the questionnaire data revealed that most students experienced an increase in reading interest, ranging from a desire to read books independently to increased visits to the library. In conclusion, the read-aloud strategy was proven to foster students’ reading interest by creating an enjoyable and meaningful reading experience.

Abstract

Students often struggle with understanding their rights and obligations in various contexts, which negatively impacts their learning outcomes. This study aimed to address this issue by developing an interactive snake and ladder game-based media tool that helps students grasp these concepts through engaging examples in daily life. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The interactive game was validated by media experts (96%), subject matter experts (98%), education practitioners (84%), and students. The overall validation score was 92%, qualifying it as "highly suitable." In trials, student responses were positive: small-group trials scored 92%, and large-group trials scored 91%, resulting in an overall score of 91.5% ("highly suitable"). Pre-test scores averaged 59.80%, while post-test scores improved to 87.29%, showing a significant increase of 27.49%. This indicates that the interactive snake and ladder game effectively enhances learning outcomes in Pancasila Education for fourth-grade elementary school students. The study demonstrates the potential of gamified educational tools to improve comprehension and engagement in civic education.
