Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Ketalo Hamlet, Gadingsari Village, Bantul Regency, with the aim of increasing farmers' understanding of the importance of fertilization based on soil test results for rice plants. The activity began with soil sampling and laboratory analysis to determine the status of soil fertility. The results of the analysis showed that the nitrogen content was moderate, while phosphorus and potassium were low. Based on these results, fertilizer recommendations were prepared to achieve the target harvest of 6 tons/ha, using a combination of urea, SP-36, and KCl fertilizers, and supported by organic fertilizers. In addition, counseling was carried out to farmer groups regarding soil test results and the importance of balanced fertilization. The results of the questionnaire showed that most farmers had only used Phonska compound fertilizer without knowing its content and suitability to plant needs. Through this activity, farmers gained a better understanding of the concept of fertilization based on nutrient needs and expressed their readiness to try more appropriate fertilization practices. This activity is expected to increase efficiency of fertilization and agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This community engagement program revitalizes agricultural infrastructure in Jatimulyo Village, Yogyakarta, through the construction of a new fertilizer storage facility. The main issue was the severe degradation of the previous building caused by decay and termite infestation. Its location on a steep slope further obstructed logistics and access, disrupting fertilizer storage and negatively affecting agricultural productivity. The solution was carried out through collaboration among the Bakti Anubawa Community Engagement Program Committee of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University (UAJY), KWT Amanah, the village government, and the local community. The program followed systematic stages: field observation, outreach focused on planning and construction standards for sloped terrain, and physical implementation. A key improvement was replacing the deteriorated wooden structure with reinforced concrete for better durability and slope stability. Technical specifications included 300×300 mm river stone foundations, 4D8 main reinforcement with D6-200 stirrups for beams and columns, a 10 cm floor slab, and a ventilated galvalum roof for proper air circulation. Program outputs include detailed working drawings, a transparent budget plan (RAB), and a functional fertilizer storage building that supports efficient logistics, protects fertilizer quality, and improves agricultural productivity and community welfare. This project reflects sustainable implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Abstract

The gravity capsule served as the main object of focus in a community service activity aimed at introducing science to children in the Cibogo Bandung shelter, specifically targeting first and second-grade elementary school students. The service learning method was employed to ensure the learning process remained simple and accessible, considering the young age of the participants. A basic experiment using the gravity capsule was conducted to introduce fundamental science concepts such as gravity, energy, and momentum. The outcome of this community service activity was considered successful, with a comprehension rate of 78.5%, based on responses to questions covering the materials delivered. However, improvements are still needed to enhance content retention among participants. Additionally, requests from the partner community for the program to be conducted regularly form the foundation for the sustainability of this initiative.

Abstract

Field-based learning activities are an integral part of developing architectural students’ competencies, especially in the field of cultural tourism and heritage conservation. This paper describes students’ experiences in mapping visitors and tourism potential at the Plaosan temple complex. The focus is on the learning process involving field observation, primary data collection through surveys and interviews, and the analysis of spatial and activity potentials. Through participatory and collaborative approaches, students applied theories of tourism and cultural heritage conservation in real contexts while enhancing their skills in data collection and spatial mapping. This documentation of student activities is expected to serve as a reference for community-based and conservation-oriented field learning methods applicable in architectural education.

Abstract

Campus canteens are essential facilities supporting academic activities. However, during peak hours, issues such as disorganized queues and delayed order deliveries frequently occur. These conditions lead to a decrease in customer satisfaction and service efficiency. This community service activity aims to develop a queue management strategy to improve service quality in campus canteens. The methods used include direct observation, socialization, and training for canteen staff, as well as the implementation of a simple order identification system. The socialization of the “numbered tags” queue system to the vendors has been carried out as part of the efforts to enhance service efficiency and organization. Preliminary evaluations indicate that this system has the potential to reduce customer waiting times and improve service efficiency. The finding suggests that a simple technology approach based on a numbered system can be an effective solution for addressing disorganized queues and improving the quality of canteen services in the future. This finding provides a foundation for canteen managers in other educational institutions to implement similar systems.

Abstract

The Bayan Traditional Maulid Ritual in Bayan District, North Lombok, is a social and cultural manifestation that strengthens community ties and identity, and demonstrates a positive relationship between religion and culture. The Bayan Traditional Maulid Ritual also serves as a venue for interaction and tolerance between religious communities in Bayan. Comprehensive documentation, active community participation, and the use of technology are key strategies for preserving intangible cultural heritage. This study aims to comprehensively document the Bayan Traditional Maulid Ritual as a cultural archive and a basis for further preservation efforts. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, and data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with traditional and community leaders, and a literature review. The results indicate two versions of the ritual between Bayan Village and Karang Bajo Village, with fundamental differences in the emphasis on spirituality, structure, and ritual stages. Documentation of the ritual in the form of infographics, booklets, and videos plays a vital role in preservation, education, and cultural diplomacy, as well as serving as a bridge between generations to maintain the continuity of cultural knowledge. Abstract

The Sanjaya Muntilan Pastoral Center (PPSM) has excellent potential as a public space that supports spiritual, educational, and social activities. However, limited outdoor facilities and uncomfortable environmental conditions challenge the area's development. This study aims to design an outdoor garden based on sustainable landscape architecture that enhances comfort, ecological value, and social functionality at PPSM. The methods employed include literature review, field observation, SWOT analysis, and thermal comfort simulation using ENVI-met software. The design outcomes include functional zone division, selection of local vegetation, and integration of hardscape–softscape elements. Thermal simulations during peak outdoor activity hours (08:00, 10:00, 16:00, and 18:00 WIB) showed a significant reduction in PET temperatures in key areas, demonstrating the design's effectiveness in creating a more comfortable microclimate. With an ecological and participatory approach, this park is expected to become a green oasis supporting pastoral services and the well-being of the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to design a master plan for the Watu Blencong Maria Prayer Hill area in Kalibawang, Kulon Progo, as an inclusive, safe, and spiritually meaningful Catholic pilgrimage site. This area has strong natural potential in the form of hilly contours, sacred natural stones called Watu Blencong, and unique light orientation, but has not been arranged functionally and symbolically. The design approach was carried out through a participatory method involving parish administrators, congregations, and the local community in three stages of discussion forums (initial, interim, and final reports). The main concept developed was "Light, Stone, and Hill", which was translated into a zoning system, spiritual circulation, and devotional elements based on the natural landscape. The result is a master plan that integrates the Stations of the Cross path, devotional places, reflective spaces, and supporting facilities while maintaining the ecological character of the site. This master plan not only optimizes the spiritual experience of the congregation by creating a contemplative space but also opens opportunities for the development of community-based religious ecotourism.
