Abstract

This article explores gender equality education through a Qur’anic perspective as a response to the ongoing reality of gender inequality in Muslim societies and Islamic educational settings. The study focuses on understanding how gender equality is framed in social discussions, how the Qur’an conveys principles of equality in its verses, and how these principles can be applied within Islamic education. Using a qualitative library-based approach, the research examines relevant Qur’anic passages, interpretations from both classical and contemporary scholars, as well as recent academic literature. The findings indicate that the Qur’an upholds equal human dignity, moral accountability, and spiritual worth for men and women alike, placing faith and righteous conduct above gender as the measure of merit. The persistence of gender inequality is largely rooted in patriarchal cultural norms and partial interpretations, rather than in the core teachings of the Qur’an. In this context, Islamic education holds a crucial role in promoting gender justice by incorporating inclusive interpretations and reinforcing Qur’anic values of equality, justice, and social responsibility.

Abstract

The alignment between institutional syllabuses and national curriculum goals is essential for ensuring coherence, educational quality, and effective learning outcomes. This study examines how English Language Education programs at the State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau align their institutional syllabuses with national curriculum standards, particularly the Kurikulum Merdeka. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, data were collected through document analysis of institutional syllabuses and semi-structured interviews with lecturers and curriculum coordinators. The findings indicate partial alignment, in which learning outcomes generally reflect national competencies, while inconsistencies persist in the implementation of instructional strategies and assessment practices. Key challenges include limited understanding of the national curriculum framework, insufficient structured professional development, and minimal collaborative curriculum planning. The study identifies curriculum mapping, outcome-based syllabus design, and collaborative professional development as strategic approaches to strengthening alignment. It concludes that sustained institutional commitment, continuous evaluation, and faculty collaboration are essential for achieving coherent and meaningful curriculum implementation in English language education.

Abstract

The development of critical thinking skills, which are essensial for problem-solving and academic achievement, remains a challenge in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), mainly due to low student engagement and differences in ability levels. This study aims to investigate the development of students’ critical thinking through an inquiry-based learning model and interactive learning media. A qualitative literature review method was employed, analyzing scientific publications from 2020 to 2024 sourced from Google Scholar, Scopus, and GARUDA. The findings indicate that inquiry-based learning increases students’ creativity, curiosity, and active participation through observation, questioning, investigation, and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, interactive learning media increases engagement, conceptual understanding, and learning motivation through audio-visual stimuli and hands-on practice. The integration of both approaches effectively improves the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of critical thinking. However, challenges related to infrastructure limitations and teacher readiness persist, highlighting the need for inquiry-based learning integrated with interactive media, supported by teacher training and continuous evaluation.

Abstract

Education is the cornerstone of a nation's development, heavily reliant on the proficiency of its educators. Despite this, many teachers face obstacles in executing their roles as defined by teacher competencies, particularly in conducting classroom action research (CAR), which entails identifying developmental issues in children and formulating suitable interventions. This research aims to bolster teachers' grasp of CAR through workshops that emphasize practice and reflection. The research process involves several stages: introducing relevant material, engaging in reflective practice based on personal experience, participating in group discussions, and creating follow-up learning strategies. This study employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 10 early childhood teachers. Data from pretest and posttest were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The effectiveness of this training is assessed by comparing pretest and posttest results. Findings reveal that reflective practice-based workshops significantly enhance early childhood teachers' understanding of CAR. While the improvement in comprehension is considered moderately effective, these workshops offer a valuable framework for advancing other areas of teacher competency.

Abstract

Algebraic thinking is crucial for assisting students in the mathematics learning process. Algebraic thinking is the process by which students solve problems, identify problems, and present them mathematically in mathematics learning. Generalization is part of algebraic thinking and is an essential component of the educational curriculum. However, there are several obstacles and challenges in students' algebraic thinking, particularly in generalizing patterns. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze junior high school students' algebraic thinking skills in solving pattern generalization problems. This study is a descriptive qualitative study, where the results are in the form of descriptions of students' algebraic thinking skills. The results of this study indicate that subjects with high-level algebraic thinking skills tend to generalize factually and symbolically, and the data fulfills all indicators of algebraic thinking. Subjects with moderate algebraic thinking skills only tend to generalize factually and only fulfill some algebraic thinking skills. Subjects with low algebraic skills tend to have difficulty generalizing patterns and only fulfill a few algebraic thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of anti-corruption education in strengthening honesty values among primary school students. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of two participants, namely the principal and one classroom teacher who were directly involved in implementing anti-corruption education at SDN Kotakulon 1 Bondowoso. The results showed that strengthening honesty values was carried out through habituation and role modeling, such as transparent management of class funds, habituation of academic honesty, and open activity reporting. Teachers served as key role models in the internalization of anti-corruption values, while family environmental factors became one of the obstacles affecting consistency of student behavior. The findings imply the importance of integrating habituation-based anti-corruption education in the learning process at primary schools, particularly within the context of Pancasila and Citizenship Education.

Abstract

The internal conflict in Sudan in 2023 has generated a humanitarian crisis with significant repercussions for higher education, particularly affecting Indonesian students enrolled in Islamic universities. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of academic displacement experienced by Indonesian students in Sudan, encompassing academic, socio-psychological, economic, and administrative impacts, as well as to analyze the resilience strategies developed in response to the conflict. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, the research explores students’ subjective experiences through in-depth interviews, contextual observations, and analysis of supporting documents. The findings reveal that armed conflict led to the suspension of learning activities, uncertainty regarding academic status, intense psychological distress, limited access to basic necessities, and administrative barriers that disrupted educational continuity. Despite these challenges, students demonstrated adaptive capacity through the utilization of social networks, community solidarity, family support, and institutional interventions by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. These results underscore that academic displacement constitutes a multidimensional disruption requiring more adaptive and sustainable international education protection policies to safeguard students’ rights and academic trajectories in conflict-affected contexts.
